the cartoon is alright with some cool moments - and if you like the plot/ideas of airbender it gets them across much better than the movie did. has more time to explain all the mystic crap too

Okay cool. Then I think I'll rent the Dvds. I actually did like the plot and that flying bison thing was neat too heh.

caught this film online cuz i was curious as to how bad it was and holy fuck

I couldn't even finish the last 20 minutes - the sets, sound design and some of the effects are nice but that's about it. the rest of the movie is a shambolic boring badly paced mess. the acting is atrociously stale except for 'oong the ahhvutahr' and zuko's uncle, the 'bending' and fights have no impact or tension with what seems to be literally randomized slow motion. a character will do a little jig and then 5 seconds later a rock moves 3 inches or something ignites. it looks like shit.

definitely the worst film i've seen in a long time. its not even like gooby/the room/birdemic etc where you can laugh at it for how utterly trite it is - its just a big pile of boring, over-budgeted wank from start to finish

I really wasn't wanting to see this movie until I read this.

The brilliance of Noah Ringer's performance cannot be understated — he is the first performer ever to convince me utterly that he is standing in front of a greenscreen. Even when Ringer is filmed on location, in front of a real-life mountain, he still manages to create the impression that his surroundings have been keyed in, and he's actually in a studio somewhere. This is a huge, crucial factor in the way the movie makes fun of its own epic-ness. And I think everybody who has criticized Shyamalan for casting white actors as Asian characters in this film should admit they were wrong. Clearly, Shyamalan tried to cast Asians, but he just couldn't find any whose performances were lifeless enough.

Now I simply have to.
