And I totally didn't decide to update it every Monday.
http://dragonswithpompoms.blogspot.com/
And I totally just didn't start four sentences with a preposition.

And I totally expect to be able to fulfill my promise of updating it every Monday.
Totally.
And.
I'm awesome.

Hell yeah.
Quote from: rtilblog with random and hilarious name
There's no concrete theme or concrete anything for the comics, really, so, if anything, the name is the most fitting title it could have.

What can I say, this is Dragons With Pom Poms I hate to retread old and broken ground.

Also, I'm new to this whole "making super fancy comics" thing, so I'd really love criticism.  This isn't Deviantart.
I'm currently working on improving the layout of the panels since one person told me they were a tad confusing.
I'm awesome.

well my criticism would be a blog is a horrible format for delivering artwork

typically they don't have any readers and blogs should be left to the livejournals of the world

blogspot doesn't give you a lot of breathing room for growth in the first place

Well, yeah, I totally knew that.  Unfortunately, it's all I can do right now since I don't have money to afford a website, and I know jack shit about designing a website and all that.
My hope is that, when I get enough money saved up for about a year or so, I'll get an actual website and use that to host the comics.
Trust me, every time I visit the comic the fact I'm using blogspot punches me in the kidneys
I'm awesome.

a website is relatively cheap ($5-$10/mo and domain registration is like $20/year) so once you save up some go for it

then you can install something like wordpress or a free comic/blog dealio and it's all freely yours to customize

it's even better if you know how to program for the web

I'm anticipating march when, my whitewater rafting job apparently opens up again so I can start making cash again.
I figure I should spend my time until then learning up on how to program on the web then, eh?

Also, it's not a punch to the kidneys, per se, it's more like a "God I hate blogspot fffff", if anything.
I'm awesome.

Posting the first two panels sans dialogue just because.

The first comic I used as an opportunity to work on shading and figuring out how shadows are formed and all that stuff.  I'm not quite sure how well I did, but it was still a good practice because I still learned a think or two I should pay attention to when I'm drawing shadows.

This comic I'm working on making people distinguishable. I have a problem that probably could've been avoided a long time ago but I ignored it.
I'm only really good at drawing myself.  I can draw myself, but as soon as I try to draw someone else they look like me.  So, this comic has three different characters and I'm seeing if I can get them to look different with making them all different ethnicities that would be very easy to differentiate or giving them grossly odd-shaped heads.

The second panel's drawing is a lot better than the first one, since the first one I was designing the characters.  If I have time before Monday, I'll go back and redo panel one to make it fit the visual quality of panel two.  Besides, even more practice with that whole distinguishing characteristics I'm working on.  I'm working on things such as head shape, nose shape, positioning of stuff on the fact, various marks on the face (the small freckle under my left eye, and the three freckles on the right side of the middle character's forehead, although the picture has been resized so small you can't see them).  The little things.

Not just physical traits, either, but mannerisms and habits and how the react to various things and whatnot.  It won't be so noticeable in this comic, but in future ones maybe I can work on that.

Unfortunately, all my work with making the characters discernible is out the window because when I colored the characters I colored the hair colors that i felt fit the character, and they're all different, so... shit.
So, I have the pictures in links.  If you care, give the lineart a look and tell me what I can do to help distinguish characters more.  One person suggested I move features of the face around, like have the nose lower or higher among other things, so I'll keep that in mind.  Again, it's not noticeable because the character is facing front, but while the side characters have earlobes, the one in the middle does not (recessive alleles and all that).

Anyway, yeah, here are the panels, advice and stuff ahoy.

Panel 1
Panel 1 (colored)

Panel 2
Panel 2 (uncolored)

TLDR version

How do I help make these characters easier to tell apart?
I'm awesome.

That's perfectly fine

Daveb0t

I like it
although I don't go for a cartoon style of anatomy frozen in a still position
but the fact that the humor is retreaded or cutesy is refreshing

Kött

I didn't get the joke, so I'm just assuming it's one of these random humor things... still not bad! I like the drawing style and it made me smirk a little

But GOD DAMN! Whenever I see this topic's title, the word porn catches my eye!
