Quote from: dicksinthebuttI think some of these are really good albums that you should hear, alot of the ones from the 90's and 2000's are that fucking 'indie' shit that doesn't really sound good, or different or special but no one has heard of it so THAT MAKES IT GOOD I GUESS?

Most of them seem to be pop albums

They should have waited till this decade was over to release it really

But still, 50 Cent and LIMP BIZKIT wtf
<emanhattan> i remember pingu ice cream
<emanhattan> it was a better time
<emanhattan> when the penguins were cold and delicious

Yeah but that's what I mean. Those indie bands are what's popular right now so they are pop albums, but they're supposed to be considered

independent music

lmao oh god limp bizkit.

NO DAFT PUNK IN THERE?

FUCK THIS

FG_SPace

the only "indie" i saw on this was elliott smith, and hes not really indie. wonderful, but not indie. also neutral milk hotel's aeroplane over the sea isn't on this list so its not complete. same about daft punk.

LordZeebmork

daft punk is shit
let's all set our phasers on "boring"

1960s
1. The Beatles – A Hard Day's Night (Only listened to it once though.)
2. The Beatles – Rubber Soul (Awesome album.)
3. The Beatles – Revolver (Also awesome.)
4. The Beatles – Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (While it's not my favorite album by them, it definitely deserves to be on the list.)
5. Pink Floyd – Piper at the Gates of Dawn (I <3 their work from Meddle and beyond, but this album has never interested me a whole lot. I dunno why.)
6. The Doors – The Doors (Exceptional album.)
7. Iron Butterfly – In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (I've listened to the song In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida a few times in the past and despite how awesome the song is, most of the songs on this album suck. >_> Well, it's actually unfair for me to judge the album, because I've only heard it once.)
8. The Beatles – The Beatles AKA The White Album (About 80-90% of this album is pure excellence, but the last two songs aren't very good, with Revolution 9 being absolutely horrible. :/ Still deserves to be on the list though. Most of their albums are only around 35 minutes long, yet this thing is 93 minutes long. o_O Also, Magical Mystery Tour is either my 2nd or 3rd favorite Beatles album, so... Yeah... Too bad it wasn't included with the list.)
9. The Beatles – Abbey Road (My favorite Beatles album.)
10. The Rolling Stones – Let it Bleed (I listened to this only once. While I love the song Gimmie Shelter, I only liked two songs on the album, with one of the songs being You Can't Always Get What You Want. :/)
11. Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin (Though I have listened to some of the songs from this album quite a few times in the past, I have only listened to this album once. Still a great album though.)
12. Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin II (Great sequel, though just like their first one, I have only listened to it once.)

1970s
13. The Doors – Morrison Hotel (Great album, though I'm disappointed their second album didn't make the list. :/ Oh well.)
14. John Lennon – John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band (Wonderful, wonderful CD.)
15. Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin III (I've only listened to the album once and enjoyed it. Not as memorable as their first two albums, but still solid stuff.)
16. Paul McCartney – McCartney (Really great album, though I think it's lame McCartney's far superior follow up isn't on the list. >:(
17. The Allman Brothers Band – At Fillmore East (My dad used to play this often, though I'm not sure if I have ever listened to this whole album in one sitting.)
18. John Lennon - Imagine (Solid stuff, though not as strong or as memorable as his first solo album.)
19. The Doors – L.A. Woman (I have mixed opinions of this album. Some of it is a little too bluesy for my tastes, while some of it is extremely awesome.)
20. Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin IV (Terrific album. Some of the songs are about as good as rock can get.)
21. Deep Purple – Machine Head (Listened to it once and thought it was great. I have heard some of the songs more than once in the past though.)
22. Elton John – Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (Awesome, awesome, awesome. I've been meaning to get into his discography someday simply because of how great this album is.)
23. Pink Floyd – Dark Side of the Moon (Best album ever. The 4.1 mix I downloaded off of a private torrent site has some of the best sound quality imaginable. Anyone that has only listened to the 20th anniversary edition is pretty much cheeped out of getting the true album experience. That mix pretty much tortured the album, yet most CD owners of this album probably have only heard that edition. :/)
24. Paul McCartney & Wings – Band on the Run (Really great album, though the song Bluebird is meh.)
25. Queen – Queen II (My favorite Queen album. Just mentioning this album makes me want to go listen to it. <_<)
26. Queen – Sheer Heart Attack (Another classic. One of my favorites of theirs. The only thing that kinda bothers me about the album is that I'm not necessarily a huge fan of the album's structure, but at least the songs are extremely solid. Loved their second album's structure though.)
27. Led Zeppelin – Physical Graffiti (Terrific album and... Wait, WAIT! Out of their first six albums, they exclude mentioning their fifth one, Houses of the Holy? You have to be fucking kidding me. That's my favorite Led Zeppelin album.  Fuckers...)
28. Aerosmith – Toys in the Attic (Really great album.)
29. Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here (Absolutely awesome, though my dad has played Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-X) waaaaay too many times.)
30. Queen – A Night at the Opera (Unlike their third album, I love this album's structure. Awesome album.)
31. The Eagles – Hotel California (Two of the song are absolutely awesome, with the song hotel California being one of my favorite songs ever. Unfortunately, I don't care for most of the album's tracks.)
32. Aerosmith – Rocks (Even better than Toys in the Attic. Terrific album.)
33. Pink Floyd – The Wall (I can think of at least 6 Pink Floyd albums I like better than this one. >_> I could never figure out why this is often praised as either their best work or second best work. Even David Gilmour, Pink Floyd's guitarist, has criticized this album a number of times.)

1980s
34. Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms (Great album. I think I have listened to this album in an entire sitting, but I'm not exactly sure. If not, I have at least once listened to almost every song from this album at least once. >_>)
35. Paul Simon – Graceland (Only listened to this album once, and that was about two years ago. I have listened to live versions of a lot of the album's songs many, many times though.)

1990s
36. Fatboy Slim – Better Living Through Chemistry (Wait, what? This album made the list?  Maybe I should give it a second listen. I thought the album got really boring after a while but had a solid star with the first three songs.)
37. Daft Punk – Homework (Even though I didn't care for the vocals on a couple of the songs, this album is awesome. I'm kinda surprised the band didn't go in a more instrumental direction after this album. Also, the vinyl version much better mixed. :/)
38. Fatboy Slim – You've Come a Long Way, Baby (Not a huge fan of the album, but I love four of the songs on the album.)

2000s
. Gorillaz – Gorillaz (First time I listened to this album, I absolutely hated it. Second time I listened to it, I liked it. I later grew to really like the album, but then stopped listening to it when Radio.Blog.Club got shut down. After over half a year later, I started to pirate music and downloaded this album. I went to listen to it and didn't care for it as much as I used to. :/ Maybe I only grew to really like it at one point because I used to listen to nothing but classic rock and Daft Punk all the time and enjoyed hearing something very different. I dunno.)

lol @ the fact over 75% of the albums I have listened to that made the list are from 1965-1975. Also, I'm embarrassed by how long it took to make this reply. >_> I hope I didn't miss any albums from the list. I've actually known the list for a long time.

Quote from: Zekeybut if the Edgar Allen Poe tribute album by the Alan Parson's project isnt in the list, then the list sucks. the end.
I think some people that have worked with MTV in the past worked on that book, so obviously a masterpiece like that isn't going to get on the list unless it sells like, an omfg number of copies. :/ The album cost at least $250,000 to make and used over a hundred musicians. Extremely expensive album, yet incredibly underrated. If I were to make a top ten best albums ever list, that album would have a solid chance of making the list. Shame their only great albums are their first two CDs. :/ Their third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh albums are real mixed bags, and I never bothered to give their last three albums a listen.

Quote from: Magyarit's good to see pretty much most the pink floyd albums are on there
Most? They have made 14 studio albums, and only 4 of those are on the list. Animals is such an under appreciated album.

* The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Are You Experienced

* Mothers of Invention – We\\\'re Only in It for the Money - (< One of the best albums I\\\'ve ever listened to, absolutely hilarious)

* King Crimson – In the Court of the Crimson King (Didn\\\'t like it, only the first song really appeals to me :<)

* King Crimson – Lark\\\'s Tongues in Aspic (at first, it was weird, but then it grew on me so much that it\\\'s my favorite album now, by my favorite band. So yeah)

* Frank Zappa – Hot Rats - (Great)

* Black Sabbath – Paranoid

* The Who – Live at Leeds

* Yes – The Yes Album

* Yes – Fragile (Their best imo, and it went downhill from there)

* Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin IV

* Yes – Close to the Edge (ugh.)

* Hancock, Herbie – Head Hunters

* Pink Floyd – Dark Side of the Moon

* Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here

* Rush – Moving Pictures (not their best, but still good)

* Metallica – Master of Puppets

* Metallica – Metallica (wish they had stopped there)

* Megadeth – Rust in Peace

* Slipknot – Slipknot (what the hell is this piece of shit doing on the list hgafdhags)

but hot damn do they put on a good show

Daveb0t

I like the Chemical brothers much more than daft punk.

Plus hearing "Better faster stronger" synced to fucking everything including a game about stapling moths to the wall makes my skin crawl.  There comes a point when a song is used so much that I cannot derive pleasure from hearing it.

FrozenSheep

I'm just glad they have wilco up there.
