"global climate change" is a better name for it because most idiots hear "global warming" and take it out of context, thinking means every day's supposed to be hotter than the last, not realizing climate change affects both temperature extremes- with the ice shelf on both north and south poles melting down and destablizing, our summers are getting hotter, and our winters are getting colder. problem is, is that's only a short-term scenario for the earth as a whole

as someone who lives in a state surrounded by lakes created by melted glaciers, the fact that i've met climate change denialists in my own town is pretty baffling

Likewise, it doesn't bother me as much as it likely should. There's some relief in that both my parents live on relatively high ground and I'm not really settled down anywhere myself anyway, and most of the people I care about aren't in immediate danger.
I'm not largely bothered by the immediate continuity of humans as a species, because we immediately will continue as a species and this is only a hurdle. People dying en masse as a result of climate change isn't something I'll pretend to not give even a single shit about, but people are dying en masse as is and I try to make an effort to not be terribly phased.
