Drink mint tea,
Buy valerian root
Take 1 gravol
Try a generic sleeping pill
Try More Exercise
Cold shower; (no one is going to buy 6 bags of ice for an ice bath)
Lay off caffeine before bed

idk

Oh, eat some toast its got tryptophan in it

ExBerian

I stay up too late all the time. I use melatonin sometimes and one pill will knock me out. A hot bath with tea and nice music and incense works too.

I wouldn't say I have insomnia, but ever since I was young, it usually takes me ~2 hours to fall asleep from when I get in bed. Whether I'm doing nothing or not. I've dealt with a lot medication over time that has caused more formal sleep loss for long durations of time. Melatonin helps most of the time (low dose), but my honest answer is really to just learn to deal with it. Get comfortable with your own thoughts; get good at sitting and thinking.

zwimmy

I have sleep paralysis.

Do a google image search for it.

Bamyasi

I thought most people had experienced SP at least once in their life. If not, they're very lucky. It's fucking terrifying, especially if you get hallucinations.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I have a very strict regimen for going to bed, my problem has been waking up 4-5 hours later super upset about random things.

It's probably related to the shifts I've been working at my terrible seasonal job at UPS which I hate. Why didn't slack tell me how bad working there sucked.

I've also been more depressed than usual lately I guess.

What do you guys do for depression besides making art while punching the sky.

A big thing to get rid of depression, if you are not doing it already, is to go outside for extended periods. There was an article in National Geographic this month about it. For like 2, 1 hour periods in a week go outside and just walk, preferably in a park or area with a lot of nature in it.

I should probably try this.

I think you mean warm shower here. The transition from a warm environment to a cool one tells your bod it's time for bed.

I'd say Exberian's suggestion is the best here.
lol going outside
Dust

I think I get the sleep paralysis thing fairly often, I hate it. One time before I woke up I just heard like really loud distorted glitchy noises in my head.
It's experiences like this that just make me afraid to sleep.

Bamyasi

zwimmy and Dust can sleep in my bed.

slack

i manage my sleep issues with one alcoholic drink a few hours before bed, alcohol tends to tire me out if i start early, then 2 aleve PM, masturbate, lay in bed

works like a charm

you can skip the alcohol and masturbation, and take only 1 aleve PM if you dont want to be groggy in the morning, otherwise take 2
