89.3 The Current is brought to you by MPR (Minnesota Public Radio)

OK so this is probably the first serious thread I have ever made, so bear with me.

89.3 The Current is the best public radio music station in the United States, probably the best in the world.  I've been listening to The Current exclusively for all of my adult life, and even longer. The Current is the only music source I listen to, and man, does it help me get through my long days at work (I worked 18 hours the tuesday before this thread was made), not to mention it is the main reason I haven't broken my foot off inside my boss' ass.

The Current has live DJ's 24/7, who put songs on in real time, not just the top 40, like most music stations do. There is no algorithm, there is no agenda, there is no commercials, and it is supported 50% by the listeners that support it financially, myself included. I pledge $15/mo. My father pledges $45/mo, and has talked about bumping it up to $50/mo sometime soon. 50%. That's more than they get from government grants.

The station has all kinds of special features, such as Random Vinyl, where they put an actual vinyl record on the turntable at 6:30 am every weekday, time-machine Tuesday every tuesday night, where they choose a random year and play an entire hour of music from that year, or like this weekend, Block-Rockin' weekend. Blocks of favorite artists, 3 songs each, all weekend long.

There is an MPR app on android and iphone market, free of charge, you can stream The Current, MPR News, MPR Classical, Radio Heartland, or Local Current, all of these streams are 24/7 and commercial free

The Current has a live internet stream, which is a mirror of the actual radio stream, you can listen to it here: http://thecurrent.org/listen
or, if you're still skeptical, check the playlist here: http://thecurrent.org/playlist

did I mention it was COMMERCIAL FREE?

Here's my guarantee: If you don't fall in love with this radio station in 60 minutes or less, I will give you THE $13*

not really

rtil

i was skeptical until you said no commercials, there's only one station around here that is commercial free but all they play is EDM and dubstep

The Current plays a lot of NEW music, all the pop hits today are all songs i've heard on the current months ago, it's kind of like being the first to hear the new music, it keeps me up to date on music trends

rtil

hmm well idc about music trends really and new doesn't necessarily mean good, either. but i'll give it a shot since my soundcloud has been pretty barren lately.
