It's still technically Halloween in Hawaii, so we're allowed to have spooky threads for 3 more hours.

Most creepypasta falls into one of four categories: A. 2spooky "then who was phone" drivel, B. cliche entity-based trite, C. cheap body/venereal horror, or D. "your favorite childhood cartoon/videogame/deepweb site is now snuff" (occasionally decent, but everyone's read the best of it). However, there are a few I think rise above the rest, and while perhaps not as effective or affecting as the best horror stories from any other medium, at least come somewhat close.

These are generally in descending order by quality (as judged by yours truly), and are all read dramatically by the same guy. It's entirely possible I just like them because of their production value, but I still suggest listening to them alone at night with all the lights off if you haven't already read/heard them:

Terrible dialogue and said bookisms aside, this one is #1 for me because the author understands that the best horror uses the mundane, rather than the supernatural, as its foundation and main point of reference.
This is entity horror done right, meaning without any major reveal or explanation. The writing and production are both top-notch.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4diajtaBr1U
The writing might be a bit shaky from what I remember, but still an excellent story.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWM4GV12a7Y
One everyone's probably read/heard already. I remember the writing being strong.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-MEjcXYPx8
Same as above. Entity horror done right.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPR-9xiVZ_o
Campy as hell but still fun.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgHtB9i7Icc
Heartwarming love story. The reveal is to die for.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVq0-YvqFao
Pretty cheap and poorly written, but still makes the list because decent cosmic horror is rare on the internet.
Might post a few of my other favorites in text but these eight comprise most of them. None of the other Cry Reads are really worth your time, for those wondering. If you know any good ones not listed, please post them because it's likely I haven't read them as I tend to ignore the scene.

I'm aware of a fair bit of decent creepypasta but my favorite one is probably 'the strangers'

i like that ted's caving page is still up on angelfire even after all these years

it's gonna suck when angelfire eventually gets shut down and we'll have another geocities-level apocalypse
