i try to be cautiously optimistic about the ordinary things in my life, and about my goals and dreams etc.

when it comes to The World At Large it's a different story though
it's hard to stay optimistic when all the horribly disturbing shit casts such a large shadow over everyone's lives.
also if you pay attention to history and geopolitics in school there's no way you'll be an optimist when it comes to mankind in general, at least not without some serious reservations

^ yeah, also a lot of notable philosophers from a lot of different time periods were notably pessimistic about humanity in general. a lot of them thought very poorly of the "average joe", or at least had very low expectations of him.

i think i'm more pessimistic outwardly and more optimistic inwardly.

this isn't the case so much on the internet, but i try to avoid letting my optimism get out too much irl. mostly because i'm very optimistic about my goals and people can be really brutal when they see that kind of optimism. because of that though, a lot of people see me as a very jaded person.
