Homestuck - I like it, up to the end of Act...5? But I have no idea how to defend why. I like a lot of the characters, but no lie, you DO have to endure a lot of pointless shit to like the better acts. I stopped reading after they introduced even more characters, 'cause all of the transcripts ended up "telling more than showing". I like the music though. And maybe it's 'cause I'm lame, but I like a lot of the (tween-tastic) flash animations, especially the act finales.

agreed on this, i liked homestuck a lot until somewhere around the end of act 5. the fanbase hurts me more than any other fanbase though honestly. the music is really good and hussie pretty much pioneered this sort of thing but there were a few things that i didnt like so much about the plot

1. all humans are hypocrites to some extent, including yourself. get used to it

2. it is my opinion, i dont expect people to accept it as truth but i will say it anyway if i feel like it

3. i typically ignore people who criticize my work. i know it is bad and that's why i continue to practice, i dont need people to tell me it is bad.

4. i'm not going to post some deep psychological analysis of a video game parody with non-stop screaming and swear words, it is what it is and it's quite clear what kind of audience its targeted at and that it's low-brow humor.

1. yeah i mean i guess that it's true. as long as you're aware of it then w/e
2. it's not even necessarily just your opinion if you can back it up
3. even if it's good criticism? like from someone with a lot of experience who is being nice/constructive? or just when they're saying stuff like "it sucks i h8 anime fuk u"
4. i get that, but i dunno. i think it's hard to just say anything is "lowbrow humor" and dismiss it. for example, i really like tim and eric, and i know you do too. but there have been plenty of people who have seen me watch that and think that it's the dumbest thing ever, and i think it's widely considered to be "lowbrow humor". i don't think it necessarily is, i think there is a lot of genius stuff going on in some of their work (though yes, they have sort of delved into more lowbrow stuff before). and pretty much everything the SS ever did was purposefully lowbrow. i dunno, i don't think that makes it less funny automatically.

i'm really not trying to get in an argument about all of this because i don't care about egoraptor or why you do or don't like him, i was just pointing out how quickly you went from "no one should make fun of you for liking what you like, people who do have insecurities" to "you guys like total garbage if you like egoraptor cartoons"

i actually think death note is probably one of the best ideas for an anime ever, and i really wish i'd thought of it

The swords have been drawn. You both make good points.

if someone gives me good criticism i more than likely asked for it. i hardly ever hear any valid input on anything i ever make - i don't expect to hear it and i don't ask people to give it to me. but, in the rare event that someone critiques my work for no reason, they're usually right about everything , and this is why i don't ask for critique. because when i make a painting or a cartoon, the second it's done i look at it and i instantly see everything that's wrong with it or what i could have done better.. i'm not the kind of person that thinks everything i make is gold, it's not.

and you're misquoting me, i said "it's ok if you like garbage so long as you're aware that you enjoy garbage". let's not pretend for any sake of argument that making humor of observations as old as the average viewer base of youtube about how sonic gets the rings and mario eats the mushrooms are the pinnacle of comedy. there are some things i like that are garbage, what i mean by garbage is that the humor is cheap, the production is cheap.. something in it is blatantly cheap. do i feel bad for enjoying it? no, not really. do i make fun of/parody the content? yeah, i do, because i think it's funny. hell, i make fun of myself for the things that i like. i do it because i like to do it - that's my shtick (if you haven't had the last 7 or so years to notice). if that bothers you, ignore everything i say and do and stop pretending you care.

the difference between you and me as i can take a look in the mirror and laugh at myself for what a complete joke we all are. i'm not pretending i'm any better than anyone else, or that i have any taste in anything. but my brand of humor is parody and there's nothing wrong with that.

it would be different if i said, oh you like this? you're this and that, etc. i'm criticizing the content, not the people that enjoy the content. if you're getting offended by the fact that i don't like something you like, well, that's your problem and not mine, and it has nothing to do with what i said earlier and it doesnt make me a hypocrite. people will like what they like regardless of what i do or say, i don't care. if it makes them upset that i parody or jab at the things they like, they need to lighten up.

i know you're very quick to jump to find a way to criticize me and what i do, but you need to take a step back and realize that what i'm doing has very little to do with what i said about ridicule.

it really isn't a personal thing, i don't have a grudge or anything. you just came off boldly on two ideas that seemed to conflict, so i was clarifying what you were saying. it wasn't supposed to be insulting.
