It's been forever and I really missed this place, so I thought I'd drop by! I can't believe how much the forum has changed in 3 years.. I barely recognize the place or the members at all.
It's really good to see some old faces still around, and chat with you guys in IRC :)

Anyway I came by to dump some anime into the anime vortex. I haven't done a whole lot of new crazy personal art; only bullshit sketches of anime chicks here and there. I just finished college and am interning with harvey james as a colorist on zygote, so that's new! I'm not sure if I'm technically allowed to show these because they might contain spoilers, but I attached one of my practice inking pages to give a general idea. plz don't tattle on me

sorry the images are huge/blurry/terrible quality.

the ink stuff is looking great. glad to have you back!

dilly

i've always enjoyed your digital art, but those traditional inks are phenomenal!

thanks! unfortunately my pages need to be basically jeff smith status before i can do anything, but yeah im glad i'm finally getting some guidance/training that i was deprived of because i didn't go to art school.

also idk why but i just scrolled through 'delicious' and almost cried tears of nostalgic gay memories

it all looks very professional!

Heyo! I just came by to drop off some art and say hola  :speedy:

I just got back from a roadtrip with my brother and have some new rubbish to share. wacky things, nature drawings, zygote stuff, etc

In other news, Zygote vol. 1 is FINALLY done, but because of some bullshit agreement with the publisher, jamesharvey isn't allowed to put it online until an official release date is established for the next two volumes. They need a date so they know when to start publicizing and taking pre-orders. So basically i'd need to be sub-contracted with a salary/schedule, which requires him starting a Kickstarter because the publisher isn't obligated to pay for assistants. It could therefore takes months until vol. 1 sees the light of day. This industry is SO frustrating  ;_;

in the meantime though, check out his other work, 'Masterplasty'. it's p swell :)http://blankslatebooks.co.uk/zygote/masterplasty.html

gotta love red tape and capitalism

stuff looks good. i think you've improved since last time

ty rtil!

I've been experimenting more with soft-shading. tbh i'm not sure if i like how it's coming out, i feel like the colors maybe compete with the linework too much? also i just downloaded/installed toonboom last night and i made a little .gif :>
really sorry these pictures are fucking huge

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how difficult is toonboom? how is it compared to flash?

i'm just messing around making some gifs. toonboom is actually really easy to get the hang of if you're familiar with the format and tools of flash. Whenever i encountered a roadblock, i was able to google and resolve it in 5 seconds.
the brushes and colors are AMAZING. drawing freehand is so much easier
