Yeah I've been working with realistic real world objects with real physics for a long time. I can actually make him bump into stuff and have it all move realistically... which is cool and everything but I need to add a little more cartoon to him. I get what you mean now about the bending backwards thing, I could do that, just need to remodel him a bit and give him an axis at the wheel joints.. or I could just bend the entire body although I don't want to go too crazy with him... I'm fairly sure though when I make enough of these they'll improve anyway just from learning and practising techniques.

Thanks for your help, I'll browse some other topics and see if I can find anything on this issue.

Day 194 - Pip: Now with Expressions!!! - Haha I've tackled the facial expressions thing... I didn't actually know how to make his face move when I started BUT I have since figured this out as I have had a lot of comments about it.

His arms do bend too, I'm trying to make him less static but I'm finding it quite difficult figuring out what to move. His arms do bend but I've not got any idea how to make him seem less stiff and still a robot. So forgive me while I work this out. Not sure what you mean about shifting forwards and backwards, explain that a bit. I'm used to doing effects etc and making things seem realistic so crossing the line into cartoon is what I'm currently learning. I'm improving fast though!

Dunno how often you go to Newgrounds but if you went on Robot Day my animation was on the front page so you may have seen what I'm about to link you to

Pip the Robot: Trapped

I moved to 3D about 2 years ago and about 2 years before that After Effects, I now use the two to make these animations... I also use flash a tiny bit for some 2D animation and drawing that the other apps can't tackle.

Anyhow hope you enjoy the animation and I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Oh wow nostalgia. The comic is much better than the Clock movies... The beginning of the second clock movie made it look quite promising but it sort of decreased in quality as it went along... getting messed up in the cloning machine was kind of funny I guess. I remember following you on sheezyart, you had that animated gif of a twirling cat as your avatar haha. Good to see people still knocking about somewhere.

Thanks, and I'm sure I'll run into a few. I remember you, think I watched or followed you or whatever the phrase was back then! Haha.

Forgot to add my daily artwork blog which can be found here: http://zictor2012.tumblr.com/ - I started at the beginning of this year and will stop on 31st December 2012, it's allowed me to explore loads of different styles and techniques so far and I've really enjoyed doing it and trying out different things.

Hey, I'm Dave. Alias: Zictor, I used to be on SheezyArt back in the good old days 04-07 before everyone left. Not sure if people from the community are still here or not but I'd like to re-integrate myself with the community, other animators etc.

Over the years I've developed many new skills, I mainly use Cinema 4D and After effects now to create effects and animation, although for 2D drawings I still use Flash, as I've not yet learned illustrator.

You can check out my work on Newgrounds here: http://zictor.newgrounds.com and on Youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/user/Zictor

Hope to get back into the community so I'll check here a fair bit. Feel free to send me a message and chat etc, I'd say I'm relatively easy to talk to!
