Not the most interesting story but I took a summer course that was supposed to be web design / layout / html kind of stuff, had kind of a similar experience to Rtil. Just someone who was a primary teacher of something else teaching off a premade guide. If I recall I think the class was too small so they dumped it on whoever to I assume save money from hiring someone competent? Anyways it took less than a day to realize I knew more than said teacher did. Was able to drop it, got a refund, so whatever.

Not my first time being in a position where I knew more than the teacher on a strictly technical side at least. I bet that sort of thing was a lot more common with computer-related classes back in the day than it is now.

I had some stuff on freewebs, but that is long gone and I did not save any of it. Although part of me thinks that is for the better anyways.

Part of me wishes I had gotten more into fighting games. And that same part of me is very happy I didn't. I think I am happy to appreciate the craft from a distance.

I do like the soul calibur games though, but I generally have no idea what I am doing.

got back from california a few days ago, partly to do anime expo artist alley in LA, and then after visiting my grandparents in santa cruz. also did another local con right before going to LA. i'm so glad to be back. i never wanna do another artist alley again. so much fucking work and stress. it's become a massive hustle now and if you don't do it full time it's not worth it. i will peddle my smut exclusively on the webzones now.

oh and i also got sick when i got back. probably on account of being around so many people.

I went to AX I think twice like fifteen years ago, and it was all pretty relaxed. I hear it's totally insane now though, can't really imagine ever really wanting to go back. Honestly I don't feel like I have much interest in any sort of con anymore.

Also yeah I too do not like doing fairs and events and whatnot, even if they are much more low key. Although I bet in the field you're in it's super competitive, not something I have to deal with.

And I'm usually just fully by myself, it's all a lot to manage with even just loading/unloading. Been a bit busy, but I know I need to do at least two or so for the holiday season, I know application deadlines are coming up bleh

Yeah I have mixed feelings on the whole AI + vibe coding thing. But I can't deny that when it's really hit its peak, that I won't try and make my "dream game", even if just for myself.

I feel like all the things i like are having their 20th anniversaries these days and i am feeling old.

Yeah 403 has since had a few albums or singles and whatnot, but I bet they too would have been lost to time if it weren't for the original animations. I think the song in the new one is from a full album that came out in the last few years.

And yeah I kind of just always associated the original two as nico nico douga or 2chan things, which I guess extended to it being a 4chan thing. Too bad they never made the proper jump to Newgrounds though (submitted by the actual animator(s)), it's a shame

Anyone else a fan of these back in the day? Or perhaps NCH's 4chan-themed homages to them? Do they hold up? Who's to say, but the pacing and camera work is still quite excellent I think. Probably some of the more globally recognized flash animations from Japan alongside the There She Is!! series (which by the way got a new entry last year), and maybe some of the IOSYS touhou music videos. I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but anyways, deeply nostalgic to me and all that, but apparently the original creator made a whole new one as 20th anniversary celebration. Is this common knowledge or did I just miss it entirely? It's worth the watch if you respected the originals, if anyone would care perhaps it would be someone here.

I've been on Newgrounds' supporter program forever now (just the $2.99 monthly one), but I never really go there to watch anything anymore. It was so important to me once and I don't want it to go away.

Although I'm honestly pretty devastated that /f/ is gone (and so suddenly), trying to seek out some sort of alternative. I imagine one of the other chans has something perhaps, but it'll never be the same.
