It makes me happy that most people see that thing as a drill instead of a weird pizza-saw/pizzaw.

I think I'm 4 away from finishing the page.

Holy geez, I thought those oil paintings were photos at first!

@@; Yep. I began drawing the poses that turned out just as challenging as I thought they'd be, especially the broom-riding one (tweaked the hair but too lazy to repost with the edits--might tweak some more for the compendium because something feels weird with the skirt). I find it kinda cool that I'm applying some of the things I picked up during my gesture/pose capture studies; Learning that a firmer grasp on form, anatomy, perspective, and GRAVITY would make these easier to draw, though. Surprisingly.

Thanks~

Practicing silhouettes, especially poses since I noticed that I keep habitually drawing a hand on a hip or something like that. Gonna hopefully draw AT LEAST 10 more to force me to think outside of the box.

I think I accidentally turned this month into "Draw things, or at least one thing, you don't usually draw" month. I'm almost scared of drawing her riding the broom... Therefore... I have to draw it.

Haha, the length/size of her skirt keeps changing...

"Aw, shucks!"

I lurve Beowulf from Skullgirls to death.

10 minute sketch. More drawing things I'm not used to drawing. Wanted to art more, but couldn't figure out what else to do without messing up what I already have.

Quick sketch. Messed with colors 'cause she's the only real "drow colored" character. Experimented with noses 'cause I'm still learning how to draw...

THIS is the character I have to eventually do armor studies for. I might have to keep playing around with her facial structure and hair to better sell her "battle-hardened knight of the north that can shapeshift into a wolf" aspects. Especially since I'm beginning to see how despite her nose being different, she still looks a lot like one of my other characters...

Fighting an art block. Usually I'd start drawing gestures to loosen up, but I'm forgetting how to draw my own characters, especially after the studies and practices I've been doing, and I don't know how to feel about that.

Unfortunately, the most accurate depiction of how I get around LA. Without a car.

anyway if you can't get the pose right, don't start erasing right away; toss down a bunch of quick sketches until you get something that looks more correct, and try to adjust and mimic that instead

Thanks. Erasing right away does sound like what I've been doing, since I'm getting used to basically drawing in a new way after ditching pen and paper for half a year now, so I'll give more rough/quick sketches a go over "complete sketches as passes". It also sounds less tedious than what I've been doing!

This'd only be a quick sketch to keep my hands in shape, I said...

I have other WIP drawings to work on, so this should just be a simple doodle, I said...

UGH. THEN, THE CHARACTER GOT TOO FUN TO DRAW AGAIN. AND CHALLENGING. I initially wanted to draw her strangling a victim (i.e. the viewer/you), but not only was that too hard for me to draw (at the moment), but in-story... VERY few characters are actually large enough to be strangle-able, so I took the opportunity art what might as well be one of her scenes.

I didn't really think this one through, so... Count on her arms being fixed because of the crappy foreshortening/perspective (despite her capability to detach herself, to an extent), slapping myself into learning to properly draw floating cloth, and trying to figure out how to better convey depth. And death.

Thanks!

And the orange-lines aren't mine, but my friend did 'em to help me figure out the cylinders formed by her scars, and better see what rtil mentioned previously that I had trouble conceptualizing~ Felt like sharing, in case there were other folks who browse other art threads to learn stuff.

QuoteBasically just loosened up the pose a little. Also, watch the stitches on her left arm so that they show the volume.

WIP 2nd Ms. Fortune fanart attempt, pass 3.

Took care of some anatomy errors I noticed, and made an adjustment or two based on suggestions, or the ones I knew how to manage, anyways.

For the time being, I can't really think of anything else to fix (except for maybe the belt), so the next passes may be the final lines and colors. If there're errors I've missed, please point them out and offer suggestions on how to fix it!

General / Re: Lucid Dreams

I generally do have lucid dreams, or at least remember a lot of them in great detail because dreams are cool. I often practice recalling them upon waking up, if the dream was interesting enough that I don't want to forget it. Sometimes I type them up from beginning to end, but at the very least, I try to remember a few details that stood out the most to me. If I'm feeling particularly dorky, I visit those dream meaning sites for the heck of it.

The spoiler'd walls of text are from the dream "double feature" I had earlier this month-ish and managed to type then.
Dream 1

I was dreaming in the perspective of a very young girl. Think: 5 years old. Post-apocalyptic setting with a totalitarian regime. Was escaping from soldiers and terrified for my life, but was doing a really good job hiding and running, especially with the help of my scientist grandpa guiding me (via ham radio). I got to the really industrial part of town that was filled with lasers... Understandably, to kill every unauthorized person who goes near the laboratories or whatever. Played the most intense game of tag-hide-and-go-seek-limbo-army-crawl because I was of course caught, being a little girl trying not to get fried. Freedom fighter friend helped divert attention from afar, and even managed to cut the power. My girl character perceives freedom fighter friend as awesome leading protagonist big brother.

Anyways, I make it to the lab, and F3 (freedom fighter friend) catches up, bringing me loads of comfort as he takes over in leading the way. When I make it to the Eldritch terror door of terrors, I then realize that I really, really, REALLY don't want to open that door, as instructed, by by my "perceived big bro". The portal was already technically open (white-yellow-green-swirling-cloudy-mass-of-death), but not quite in a way that'd let the things on the other side pass through. Eventually, he loses his patience, and his hologram-but-not-really disguise short-circuits: He's the "dragon"/extremely competent secret agent-second in command to the leader of the totalitarian regime. He killed F3 a long time ago, and of course, farked with my expectations/emotions and HOLY CRAP, MY YOUNG-GIRL-CRUSH IS FOR THE WRONG PERSON HELP. I/young girl, naturally, run for our lives. Security kicks up again as I climb into crevices, places adults can't get into, and generally out of reach as F4 (fake freedom fighter friend) keeps gaining on me. Parkour in the wrong hands is scary, especially when you have little 5-year-old legs.

Scientist grandpa starts leading the way during my panicked confusion again. Really hard instructions to follow during a crazy adrenaline rush, with everything chasing/trying to kill you, but I managed.

I was led back to the Eldtritch terror door. Curse my crappy sense of direction. And... Scientist grandpa was there. Being an emotional 5-year-old, I accuse him of not being my grandpa because he wants me to do something really dangerous and awful. He keeps trying to make me open the door, I tell him, "YOU DO IT THEN. YOU'RE RIGHT HERE, AREN'T YOU?!" And F4 catches up, then tells me that of course he can't, because he's the scientist that pioneered the identity-stealing disguise device. FAKE!SG's disguise is less hologram'y and more real-skin-y, so it doesn't short circuit as badly, but yeah. I'm cornered. I had nowhere else to run, so...

I run through the Eldritch terror door. F4 tries to follow...

seque into...

Dream 1.5

It's a segueing, in-between dream because it's actually a previous dream I had that decided to replay itself.

Dark-ish, overcast day, waiting with my siblings in line at a theme/waterpark for the BIGGEST waterslide EVER ever. Ginormous waterfall slide-thing, grey and green + circling and passing through a mountain, that's probably more than 20 stories high (I know it's higher than Goliath at Six Flags) and the line was understandably long and boring to stand in. I tell my siblings to hold my spot while I head off to buy us all lemonade to help pass the time. I buy some, come back, the line moved and they were at a bend or something that was hard to get to. So, I had to take a detour to cut to that part of the line, and when I got there... The line moved again and I just couldn't find them. I wasn't scared or worried, but a bit frustrated at something that shouldn't happen/be possible/etc. and sensed something fishy... Or rather, due to lucid dreaming, "This happened before, and I should know how to deal with this by now..."

Then something slams into me from behind, spilling the lemonade, and suddenly, I'm hearing I lot more screaming from everyone around me than from the waterslide itself, and I felt as though a lot of us got sucked into a white/magenta/purple/blue vortex.

This Newton's cradle of dream-jumping-portal-passing leads to another segue into...

Dream 2

Flung onto a very white, villa-like mansion. Some of the people thrown in before me were already devoured by its inhabitants; Trolls, monsters, demons, etc. Felt like I went through a weird time-jump (ha-HAA~~) to skip over everyone else who got there before me, but I was the only human alive (from what I saw at the time). They let in 1 human per day. We got 3 days to find a way to escape the mansion, and if we found the way (as in, there was one somewhere), every human got to go free. The ones already in during the overlapping days (who didn't die yet), and the ones yet to be thrown into the game.

Most of the trolls, monsters, demons, etc. have had their fill of human, so they mostly messed with us than tried to eat us. The two humans on my playthrough were already resigned to their fate, and decided to hang until they died--They've seen people get killed by the house itself, or by inhabitants with an insatiable appetite, so they preferred to be with the creatures that'd watch over them until they expired. One of the humans got killed though, since the demon watching over him wasn't a match for one of the bigger ones. Me, it was my first day, so of course I ran through the Alice in Wonderland, which-way-was-up mansion-villa, looking for the way out. Lots of trolls and monsters messed with me, leading me the wrong way, and confusing me, but I just kept running, jumping, sliding, flying, just constantly on the move.

The sun set for the first day.

I felt like I went through every door and room in the house, even the ones that looked like certain death. All the windows were unbreakable, and the doors I know led "outside" just led to rooms like looked like the outside. I ran out of options, and didn't know what to do next... I fell to my knees, and tried to think of what to do next...

A demon crouched down and stared into my face.

With a smile, he was about to speak...

Then I woke up.
Torn on whether the legs are working with or against the piece as a whole... If they take away from the "impact", I might artistically crop them or remove them, seeing as she mainly use her hooves as brakes. They're meant to mostly dangle when she flies/floats around. She wears heels in her human form because they feel the most like her zebra-legs~

She usually has crazier, more interesting looking stripes for her arms, but I thought they'd be too much of a pain to keep consistent should she be animated someday. If I'm particularly masochistic, I'd want to try pulling off a Chesire Cat effect with the stripes since she has a tendency to go in and out of invisibility... For crying out loud, I heard only the best Disney animators could animate tigers like Shere Khan and Raja because of their stripes... Ah well. I might try zig-zags instead later; I hope they don't end up looking too similar to another character's tiger-like "sleeve tattoos".

Another option is to nix the stripes altogether since her human form's arms don't have any.

Not bad for a "supposedly dead indie game"~

Ports, patches, and colors were one thing, but seeing the first DLC actually feels like progress!
