Flash has just gotten easier to hide your flaws with. In flash 8 they introduced blurs, and they keep adding shit like that. So for awhile the upped framerates were able to be used as a disguise for shitty art. Most likely you're just getting older and your sense of what sucks is less low now.

I was looking at NG the just earlier today (I used to go a lot in 03-04), and sqiugglevision is like super popular now. It makes sense for something like home movies which isn't trying to look good... but why the hell would you ink something 3 times badly instead of just inking it well one time?

I still don't get why people use the gradient tool in flash. It never looks good.

It really depends on who's popular at the time, because newgrounds is full of imitators. Back when I was 13 and I tried making my DCK knockoff, I had a lot of trouble voice acting because I thought I wasn't supposed to change my natural voice at all. The problem with NG is that the 'experienced' artists suck, because anyone who's really good usually just hates the site. So we even have people who imitate eddsworld's style, if you can call it a style.

The class is basically just like animation minus the art, although the art's allowed. Not really required, though. It's more on production methods. Only the teacher usually ends up talking about something completely unrelated, and it's a 4 hour class. I'm not complaining 'cause it's just community college. Easy elective credits.

I personally don't mind scripts, as long as they're not seen as a set of rules. I just see them as kinda pointless 'cause once you draw something you'll want to do it differently than if you're writing it in words. If artists have to follow scripts strictly then that's retarded.

This isn't the entire script I was given, but here's the parts that I drew out so far: (I'll scan in the actual one later)

ACT ONE, SEQUENCE A

WE FACE UP ON TOMMY WALKING & HUMMING TO HIMSELF. HE IS APPROACHED BY THE POPULARS.

TINA: Well, if it isn't Tommy-Wommy.

TOMMY: What do you want, Tina?

Tina: (FACKE SUPER-SWEET) We want to give you a Valentine's~

TINA PULLS OUT A CARD.

TOMMY: Why would you do that?

TINA: (MEAN) Just read it, hat-boy!

TOMMY TAKES THE CARDS & READS.

TOMMY: "Roses are red. Violets are Blue. Turtles are stupid. And so are you."

POPULARS: HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

TOMMY: (DRY) Very Funny.

TINA: (PROUD) I wrote it myself.

THE POPULARS START TO EXIT.

I tried to make it easy to animate. The actual show's setup is retarded. It has scenes with like 8 characters on screen doing nothing interesting or relevant. I think it's better to have 1 good looking character than 10 shitty ones. The designs from the show are just kinda boring. I felt like I was drawing cyanide and happiness.

"Yes" was hipster bullshit. I think it's gonna be the most popular one. It managed to be funny, and looked fun to draw but... writing was just too pop culturey for my tastes. It feels like it's cashing in on the lolrandomlove of adventure time and flapjack a bit much... those guys do seem fun to work with, though. I bet they're really chill and are happier people than a lot of other cartoonists.

"Meddlen Meddows" looked like something I'd like to work on, although the animation at times seemed a bit el tigre. Better than the fostersihness of "yes". The accents were funny, but the expressions seemed a little forced. I think it's the best overall  in terms of being a cartoon.

"Danger Planet" had the best story, and the best writing. The jokes were easy to understand and the fact that it didn't seem pointless made it enjoyable to watch. I wouldn't like to work on it, though. The characters didn't look very fun to draw. It had the pointless girl character which subtracts from it substantially. I can see her getting annoying. Like chalk-zone annoying. I'd like to see more, but not at the cost of one of the other shows.

I'm probably gonna give my vote towards Meddlen Meaddows, just 'cause I think the people working on it are the most "pro-cartoon" ones of the 3. I really hate having to decide between shows like this, though. I wish CN would just buy a bunch of cartoons... it's not like kids don't like cartoons.

Regular Show had really creative characters, but the composition was ass. It looked fun to draw, but really, the guys should take a film class or something. It had good animation, though. Wait, was this the show cn already picked up by jg quintel? it really looks like chowder + superjail + flapjack, though

Spleenstab was funny. The backgrounds were pretty good. I think it had some good expressions, but tended to be limited at times. I found the designs to be a bit over complicated, but overall I liked them. I didn't like the poses, though. It was all too stiff.

The Borneos  had good expressions and poses. I liked the drawings. The animation itself was minimalistic, and the characters were shit. I'd like to see something else from whoever made it.

Maruined the drawings looked good.. but god damn. This show looks annoying. Fuck it.

Manny & Khan was good. It seemed the most cartoonish. Although it managed to be not as funny, I think it needs more development. It just seemed pretty solid to me.

Manny & Khan leaked out, but it looks like cn had a fun time hiding it from us.. I liked the backgrounds in it a lot.
