the show seems to be playing out on a one-note gag - that mordecai and rigby are essentially slacker, college-age stoner types who do insignificant, random things every episode. the setting is starting to bug me as well. we don't know anything about how any of these characters came to live with eachother or why they do. they're just there. i dunno, it would be fun to see it develop, and it's too early to say it won't, but if every episode is going to devolve into 80's rock bands and flying into space it's going to get old fast.

I agree but to me it feels like they will be developing the characters over time as well as revealing things from that past that make them more well rounded, like you said it's too early to tell, but they did drop something about skips's past in the last episode.

i think the reason i enjoy this show is because it is very beavis and butthead-esque and like. that show never really had a point or anything either. it was just kind of mind numbing. which is the whole point of watching television to me. i love characters that are simple and really just live their life day by day and do what they want regardless of the consequences.i like shows and characters with depth and everything too but for some shows simple purposes just kind of work.

um ps can we talk about how the last episode had giant fat asian babies floating around. i mean idk if thats what they are supposed to be but that is what they look like. its like they made it just for me

i hate to bump a super old topic, but does anyone still watch this? i just started getting into this show a few months ago, and i think it's been pretty consistent. i can see people's points about it being formulaic or uninteresting, but i just find it so funny that it doesn't really matter. i dont think the show tries to be something really great (like adventure time), i think it's content to just be silly and light hearted and i like it for what it is.

it's kind of funny, because this show's premise is very similar to a lot of shitty internet cartoon series like "tomorrow's nobodies" and shit like that, but i actually like it. i think it's the aspect of surreal humor and the fact that they have to demonstrate self control and restraint in the writing to prevent it from getting too "foul", it being a "kid's show".

i like the dialogues, i just think it gets a bit boring
it's kind of a talking-heads cartoon if you know what i mean, always the same angles, but the surreal shit makes up for it sometimes
overall it's good but i don't feel like keeping up with it

yeah, i can definitely see that point of view. i don't even really disagree, it just doesnt affect how much i enjoy the series. however, i do predict i will probably burn out on the show eventually, and i do kinda hope that he puts an end to it before it gets really stale
