Oh hey I made an upload thread finally. I guess I'll be posting things like rough productions and stuff in here :]

Basically, I had planned to make a short series back in like 2008 but it came to my attention I had nothing planned out. So I spent the last years making up short comics and what things to tell in the cartoons. No big stories since I knew time wise they had to be conveyed in only a minute or so and I would not have the privilege of comics where things can deviate and flow around slowly over many pages. Also I felt my animation skills were not as ready to take on the challenge yet, so I did lots of little practices first. I'll post those up soon too!

So to start if off I made a trailer for my cartoon in progress. So far it shows clips from like 4 short episodes I'm working on. They are only like 1-2 mins each but I'm trying to make the animation really good (or as well as i can manage). Let me know what you think ^^

Lenko: Yeah I basicly thought if I only plan out one episode at a time then I'll take too long to get another ready. So I spent the last years making a bunch of short synopsis ideas and then fleshed out thier storyboards. Then I took moments in the story and animated them at different intervals. Had enough to make a trailer (heh) and finally gave myself a deadline for ep 1. I'm still not sure if I should have tried multi-episodes at once but we'll see if that saved time or not.

It looks really good, it'll be a nice addition to the print comic and like rtil said probably get sales up. from a business point of view i guess it probably makes more since for the content in the animations to be different from the comic, that way people won't disregard the comic as something they've already experienced.

Aaah I love your take on Courage and Piglet (the only characters I really recognise) and that dragon is really really awesome, I totally love the colours for it

these are sick. i love how the smoker's hair has vicious little mouths with teeth. the only thing i would change is the position of the woman's ear. it looks a little too close to the eye

So I found this meme about character evolution and I went ahead and filled it out  I swear I've saved every sketch book I've ever owned haha so this is an accumulation of like 12+ years of character evolution haha.

A few notes: Yes, Fibble was once an alien (wtf), Sin used to be as tiny as a mouse, Trash had flat teeth, and yup I've been drawing Clash since I was 7.

Trash doesn't seem to have changed too significantly, but the changes in the other characters and your improvement is really interesting. I love the random doodles and sketches.

some of your stuff is ok, but a lot of it is also pretty blurry and shitty looking

you seem to put a lot of work into your drawings with quite a few little details and stuff which makes it a bit sad that there's something flawed with your overall execution and fundamental work style, especially when it comes to coloring

the smoker one is a good example of this, imo it's one of your better drawings but it also has less colors and minimal shading so the problems i mention are not so noticable

Here was my theisis painting show in case people have never seen my paintings. For the show I painted my own name signage instead of the plain black letters they provided. I put Skitzo on one end and his arm wrapped around and held my artist statement. Sadly when the show was over they had to whitewall him away and they were upset his foot was on the air conditioner controls haha, but at least I got some pics...

You can also see the artist statement in his hand on the panoramic photo (to the left).
The biggest painting is 13ft long and the 2nd wall had a grid display of every page for issue 1 of In the Dark...which was really cool because I feel comic pages almost never get a chance to be seen by an audience. During the opening there was a table in the center where my comic was available for purchase and I thank my sister for being the table person while I walked and talked to people. Btw this was the show where I received the best compliment and the worst insult in one day haha.

The problem with photos is that you lose all the tiny details you can see in the paint up close...like the skulls in the eyes of this guy for example

Yeah its a bit interesting. Sorta like a kangaroo pouch but maybe the thing inside isn't actually living. I like how its sewn shut haha.

Thanks Hnilmik and crabarms! Haha yeah I'll take that as a compliment :b Idolatry is a character in my comic In The Dark...Issue 2. And that sewed up lump is his real head (or what's left of it). He sewed on the false "happy kawaii cat" head (a character that's a parody mix of hello kitty and mickey mouse)..added to his neck to lure and eat the souls of obsessed fans who idolize and buy all the mass commercialism of its image.

I should probably read your comic to understand your characters better. I think i've read the first chapter and thought it was good!
I like that character a lot more knowing it has a fake head attached to it. sorry for misunderstanding it and saying that it was a kangaroo pouch.

Haha nah it's okay crabarms, I actually agree it looks more like a big sack/pouch/tumor thing. It's not like its meant to look like a head anymore anyways since he mutilated it away with stitches and skin...and wants you to believe the cat head is the real face ;]

This is a squid puppy demon...they are usually found in Hell layer #5 and a number of them have become minions to Idolatry. Basically they are the ones who tentacle rape the souls of hentai addicts and lovers of Kawaii Cat. It uses its tiny forearms to hold the person still as it proceeds to rape and will use its gloved hand to reach down the victims throat and rip out the heart and throws it to the Rabbit Centipedes to eat (you can see those a few pages back in this thread). The rest of the person is ripped apart and digested by the hundreds of teeth in its mouth and the two feelers help push the body in (since the person is usually still struggling and the tiny arms can't really push forward very well).

Another demon from my comic :] This one is more like a mini bio for the creature too. So far they appear in pages 7,8, and 23.

I really like your stuff, both your subjects and how they're complimented aesthetically are rather intriguing, in my opinion. Your paintings kind of remind me of some of Gary Baseman's stuff.

Hahaha yeah I was pretty much screaming silently in my head when he said that but there were others at the stop waiting for the bus too, so I just opted to ignore him and let him ramble on and on till I could jump on the bus and draw him and his words so that I could share the horror with the world haha.

I made only about 50 of each style and sold them at my last showing at the cartoon art museum :]  I'm still looking to find some poster tubes that dont cost me a fortune so I can make them available for sale online....but till then you guys are the first to see them.

They are drawn like old 1920s style cartoon movie posters *the way you would have known about a new cartoon short in your local nickel theater*. I based these two on the actual "scrap" flashes Ive made for Skitzo, "Too hot to handle" and "Can ya spare a dime?". I want to make 2 more for "Puppy love blues" and "I'll see ya on the other side"....coming up in time!

I rather like the grimy textures you implimented on those. I think it compliments it the subjects well and creates quite a worn, decaying feel.

And so during 4th of July my neighborhood turns into a war zone of explosions and screaming people in the street with car alarms and dogs whining everywhere. It probably because you can buy a ton of illegal fireworks in China Town and nobody stops it heh. Its starts around 7pm and then lasts until about 3am......Its really REALLY loud too. tbh the only thing i feel isn't that good with what you ordinarily do, is that your coloration seems really iffy at times and you're a little inconsistent

like the skitzo the bear posters are pretty decent, but that bathroom doodle is really messy due to the way it's colored and shaded

shit it might not even be so much the colors as it is the shading

your last picture there of the 'enviable young lady' is quite well-done and funny, the way you draw can be functional enough so it's not like you can't do good linework

you see what i mean, right? if you look at your bathroom doodle and the different pools and streaks of blood, some of it is outlined and some of it isn't, making it kind of inconsistent

line strengths and such are also inconsistent, this can be used to effect to draw attention etc but in your doodle it doesn't really work that way and combined with the coloration being a mess it end up looking really off

by comparison your skitzo posters are far more consistent in their linework and colors, so they look much better

i mean yeah it's a DOODLE, so that's fine, but imo color and the way you shade is by far your weakest points, and i'm pretty sure you can do it better because you do show this from time to time

Ah thanks man! Finally someone bothers to comment on a doodle i did almost a year ago haha. Yeah looking back at it now I agree the colors and shading in particular could have been better on it. It had so many elements that I ended up skimming on the details and such since it was just for fun anyways...meanwhile the skitzo posters were to be items I actually printed and sold so yeah I did try extra hard on those to make em look GOOD. Haha but overall thanks! I do need to practice of those digital pics a bit more...as I still feel my stronger medium is traditional drawing and paintings...hence the lady doodle probably looking way better because its real ink on paper as opposed to my inking on a digital doodle like Fibble by the sink. Just got to practice more!
