I actually really like your style bud, my only problem is YOU NEED TO FIX THOSE HANDS. Work on hands they seem to be the only thing holdin you back. The 2nd picture their hands are all backwards and you already know the third one has hands that are a bit screwy. But everything else in the pictures are quite nice

Why dont you do it like basically still pictures, with an interaction bar, for like autotiming to move frames, or and back and next button
and it would display the frame, and stuff would maybe move a little bit, or blood would squirt, and stuff like that.
So it'd be animated, but not REALLY full animated, just interactive, and a bit more interesting than plain manga, and all you need to do is cut the stuff out of your original drawings, paste them in flash, tween some slow slides or make some shake effects and whatnot and you have an animated manga!

it doesn't make any sense when you say that, though. you can develop a unique style that could be classified as "anime" the same way you could draw in a western style and have it be original. every sort of style has its cliche marks, anime is just more prominent because so many people do it. you can be just as much as a ripoff artist no matter what you're mirroring. and that is why andrew kauervane is a hackjob. just thought i'd throw that in there

i suppose so. it'd be hard to say, though, because every artist is so exposed to other art these days, they tend to draw inspiration from others instead of focus on themselves and their own drawing ability. when people say they're looking for a style, i think they tend to be afraid they're not doing anything that would separate themselves from others

I think the major problem is people see a style they like and try to imitate it. I think if you merely copy someone else's style without learning how they came up with it themselves then its just going to lead to mediocre rip off work. Not only that but you cant adapt because you didn't learn the principles that worked for the original author in the first place. Theres some anime stuff out there that i find rather cool (As Zekey mentioned Dead Leaves is a good example), but its always the more experimental and abstract ones done by people who have a good understanding of the principles, and how they work, so they know how to manipulate the principles to create fresh and new experiences. Its the fact that 99% of people learn to draw buy just copying the finished product of artists they like that has created a distaste for anime, since now everything looks pretty much the same. People need to start learning construction again and how to draw, whether its anime or otherwise, from the ground up rather then just seeing something, saying its cool and copying it. But of course thats never going to happen.
