cartoons
tbh ive always drawn but was really pushed to do it when i was 14 and started watching flash on the internet
then, animation inspired me (still cant animate for shit though) and thats what introduced me to learning about anatomy
and the rest is history
I've always "drawn" since I could pick up a pencil, but then I played Sonic games and Mario games and wanted to draw like that as a form of escapism. I didn't get really serious until I was about 13 and discovered CLAMP. They're the reason I draw so kawiiwiwiwi, but they got me semi-serious about anatomy and deep twisting storylines.
idk i´ve always doodled in all my notebooks to stay awake in class. i guess it just went from there
hentai ^________________^
I guess I started getting interested back in the sixth grade. A friend of mine used to draw sailor moon fanart all the time in class, and so I attempted to do the same thing but mine came out shitty. Then I think once I got into high school I started having interest in drawing my own characters. I'm still trying to practice anatomy though.
ever since i was born i was hear to be the one

i dunno i've always been drawing since as long as i can remember. but it wasn't more than a hobby until mid-high school and i didn't take it seriously until halfway through my senior year. i didn't start drawing in sketchbooks and digital art until i got into anime, though. thank you tenchi muyo (https://thebackalleys.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thebackalleys.com%2Fdump%2Ffiles%2F1%2F778Xb1_AyekaRyokoMail.gif&hash=9bc8b25ce57f32b76ef9d12f3c5f1ef84779839f)
I've been drawing since I was little, it's weird since the stuff I remember the most from when I was a little kid was when I was drawing. I remember the first time I added clothes to stick figures then started progressing from there when I was 3 or 4. I also blame my attention to technical detail on Thomas the Tank Engine since I used to try drawing the trains all the time. Then old Nick shows got me into drawing characters more, along with shows like Ed, Edd n Eddy and blah blah blah.
my older brother used to draw alot he got me into it
he and 90's cartoon network and nickelodeon cartoons and comics such as lucky luke, donald duck, suske en wiske etc
cartoons and warioware games

Dad Couldn't Beat Me Up In My DRAWINGS
A lotta good answers i'm seeing! If only I got into it YEARS before I did, maybe I wouldn't be total shit
i only drew if was forced to the first 13 years of my life...until i started reading manga comic books and watching flash toons on the internet. then i realized what kind of great things your can make by drawing, so I i started to draw to make "nice things". of course at first I had no idea what i was doing...heh, you think I suck now you should have seen me back in 2007!
thanks buck !:D
The Disney channel used to show nothing but Silly Symphonies cartoons all day (and Zorro). I liked drawing from an early age and those Silly Symphonies and older b/w Fleicher cartoons were what really got me into drawing. Later I copied Disney films like Aladdin and the Little Mermaid. I think I started making my first comics when the Neverhood came out and it inspired my own creations and worlds, (which were odd-looking creatures named Dubo and Koey and they lived on a planet called Flebnor). Looking back at my fav Silly Symphonies still brings back memories of my first drawings and I realize they probably fueled my love of sickly sweet things combined with violence, death, and politically incorrect imagery.
You can't watch anything like these on TV now:
It starts off super sweet then becomes drunks, swords with blood, attempted gang rape, eels electrocuting men's crotches, and mass murder haha.

And this one uses black stereotypes and jokes that would never get pass censors now, despite the happy and playful nature of the plot:

I mostly tried to draw a whole bunch of comics when I was a little kid. I would either make up some nonsense story to draw, or I would draw robots and mutants.
Quote from: Lats, Squats, & OatesDad Couldn't Beat Me Up In My DRAWINGS
This is actually true in a couple of ways even though it is intended to be humorous, my father is an alcoholic and alcoholics tend towards violence. My childhood was pretty violent and I found a lot of peace in creating art, even though as a child my main influences were Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z. So I drew a fuckload of anime as a kid; Hamtaro, DBZ, Gundam, and my much older brother David was a big influence on me as well. David grew up in the eighties and he has a different dad than me, this doesn't have much bearing on why I started drawing though, other than David grew up in the eighties, the ANIMETIES, fucking anime everywhere, anime all the time. it was anime heaven. David liked anime, and David was a role model to me, so since David liked drawing and David liked anime, I liked drawing and I liked anime.
David introduced me to a lot of things Toonami didn't air in the 90's, so I got to drawing
cool shit like Aeon Flux, Battle Angel Alita, Akira, and all that noise. Our sister Christine introduced me to even cooler shit that had absolutely nothing to do with anime and I was like holy shit fuck theres art besides anime my mind is blown, things like Salvador Dali, Vincent van Gogh, and pretty much anything with a predominately more European flavor to it. Then I got to be about 12 or 13 years old and got a computer that had an internet connection and pretty soon started exploring shit I would have never seen without it. This shit lead me to some dark places where cute and pretty hamtaro hamsters are cutting each other open and jacking off and shit, and I was like why dear god why.
Point being through it all, I've always been drawing because its just what I've always been doing. It's like a constant self reaffirming and intrinsic part of my life, everyone I've ever known for more than a few brief moments has known that I like to draw, and if they show even the slightest hint that they would be interested in drawing as well I urge them to go forth and draw as much as possible. When they tell me they would never be as good as me, I bring up examples of how I am terrible in comparison to a lot of other people, and how that shouldn't even be a focus in your drawing anyway. Everyone should be creating because it leads to a more peaceful way of understanding and sharing our thoughts and ideas, and that is paramount to human existence in itself.
but thats just my opinion
peace love art sex violence war dawgz IM OUT
oh wow
sometimes u just gota let it all out on the internet
you did good
damn...
jeeeeezus squeef
so anyhow, i had been shaping my interest in art and drawing since age 6ish, with predominant inspirations being video games and comics of all sorts. though i'd watched a lot of cartoons at this time as well, it wasn't until 8 or so when i began to watch classic disney and looney tunes shorts more and more often, and these animations on tv started to become a vital influence on what i drew and how i viewed the sheer amount of possibilities that persistence and imagination through art could hold. at about this same time, i moved from simplistic doodles to drawing comics and makeshift "comic strips" of my own. even if my artistic skill still left a LOT to be desired--even to this day--i was really excited to know that, at last, there was a hobby i actually thoroughly enjoyed doing. i continued with my prolific drawing for the next three years, and my comics would continue to grow in complexity and detail. then, sometime before my 12th birthday, i ended up hitting a creative dry spell and spent gradually less time drawing, instead starting to shift my focus more towards writing. the more active i became on the internet from 12-13, i would occasionally put my drawing skills to use in a serious manner after being inspired by all kinds of things i had never heard of before. still, i've never made a serious return to drawing on a regular basis since then, and i'm not really sure if i ever will. all i can say is, let's see what happens.
I used to draw little doodles around 4-5th grade. Then I stopped drawing until 9th grade when i saw project Freetown it inspired me to try drawing again. I tried to improve myself as much as i could but i don't really draw as much as i should. My last attempt at drawing was for my Levitating Grounds Flash and for my college portfolio, which was a fail... So now ill just doodle whenever I'm bored.
I didnt exactly try to draw like this in any point of my life but these cartoons pretty much made me want to get into drawing/animation

me and my friends used to get these asterix comics all the time but i think i was the only one who really liked how it looked or felt 'inspired' if you will. from then on i started making little comics to 'impress' my classmates
and uhh i just found it to be the most comfortable way to tell stories i guess. i dunno
i played mario bros and i knew then and there i wanted to be an animator so i downloaded some sprite sheets, booted up my pirated copy of flash mx and got to work
lmao
