some clean drawings, a lot of the animation poses feel awkward and floaty, however. while it is cleaned up, i'm not sure i understand a reason for a lot of their movements, especially at the very beginning when sort of jumps and spins around for no reason . maybe it's because there were no backgrounds

am i the only who just animates things as I want them to look

like as opposed to first doing the basic movements, then adding the linework, then adding color, etc. I just do it all at once.

@ RTIL: yes some posses do need some tweaking, like the girl at parts moves to much, that's because I just need to make frames back to the ground guideline. And as for the jumps and spins? I just wanted to take a shot at that shit, It was no easy challenge, like the 360 turn the boy did in the beginning took me 3 tries to do correctly. I think I grasped a lot of new concepts though in this piece that I didn't before. Thanks for the criticism though ! Helps a lot coming from a talented artist like you =)

@NOTORIOUS: I think I know what your trying to say.. you don't use guidelines you just draw it? Yeah - Paul ter Voorde does that and he's great!

yep some movements are needless but other than that nice job.

btw, do u sketch or rough sketch ur parts before the final cut or just make it like that.

@JAVI: I don't sketch, But I draw out all of the key frames of the characters roughly, then I trace over those going in more detail and basically creating the finished key frame, then I just fill in the in betweens as is.

it looks like you went for a cartoony look to avoid looking like anime, but at the same time you wanted to make it look real, so it ended up looking weird, like you signature.... but some of the things that made it especially odd were, the heads were too big, the dimples are HUGE, and the limbs are too short, they look like kids... with adult parts.

that form of animation poses no advantage over look than others.

that type of animation is called "straight ahead", and while some people do animate that way it poses many problems, such as morphing, volume inconsistency, poor timing and lack of direction. it only works on very simple actions and shapes, nothing else

most studios and units animate in "pose-to-pose", breaking down through series of keyframes. they lose no control over how they "want them to look", in fact it's far more efficient and gives you more control over the extremes and exaggeration that you want to create in animation

you certainly have improved. i'd like to see you apply those new animation skills to a cartoon now, and see what you can come up with

@DAGOLITH:
What I was basically trying to do was make a cartoony version of the human body. I wanted to show I knew the basics of both so I combined them together. As for big head yes, but that's cartoony, but compared to the body size, my limbs were fine. The arms were below the waist and then some, and the legs were bigger than the torso, unless it was stretch, bent or anything else which it was at the best of times. I was just showing depth. I was going for a teenage look btw. But yeah, I hate anime.
@RTIL:
Thanks man, I've been study anatomy and animation frequently and improving my talents. I'd like to make a Halloween cartoon, so you might see something in October.
