So I figured I'd make an art thread because I did have one before but it's full of old art and I've changed so much since then!
Also I'm trying to post and get involved more!

okay it only took me 2 months but i finally finished one of the wips that I started a long time about because i'm procrastinating by doodling instead of revising.

scaled down because the lineart ended up messy as hell but i sorta like it!

My style has always been cute - it's like a curse, but yeah, I've been trying to think more in 3D, and I did for a bit, and then stopped because I don't get to draw properly so much when I'm at uni because of all the weekly problems. Thanks though, your comments are always appreciated

Yup, I'm talking about the card game - the fairy is from one of the expansions and is called the Sparkly Good Fairy (my current icon is her card art). She encourages team work by rewarding players who help other places with her sparkly awesome treasure cards - until you actually kill her. If you do.
I felt like drawing her in my style though, because she's adorable ^.^

The expansion the card from was only released last year (I think) - and then they had to recall it because the foil used on the cards made them bend. I still have a set of the original, but I'm waiting for the non-bent ones to come out so that I can play games without knowing when the fairy is about to appear.

So far I think the fairy is the best female that Kovalic has drawn for the game - but I haven't seen many of the normal expansions, so I can't say for sure. She's certainly the cutest though ^-^

i like that you gave them slightly different body types, skin colors and eye-shapes but they still look very similar. giving them different noses and face shapes would help make them more distinct

Ah I was wondering if anyone was gonna mention the body types. I have tried to vary the noses already but I guess I gotta exaggerate it a lot more! I'll keep it in mind for the next time I draw them. Thanks shura!

Thanks again guys! I've been messing around with SAI's brush settings because as much as I love it for doing cell-shading (see Sparkly Good Fairy), I've noticed the watercolour and acrylic tools. I got curious with the watercolour settings and I ended up doing this. I wish using actual watercolours was as fun and easy as using them in SAI:

I take requests for silly little things like this cause they're fun - I once drew a middle aged batman punching a moon that had the face of dracula just because my 'bro' asked for it and it was an epic idea. I am supposed to be drawing a punk vs emo rocker guitar battle thing too, but I need work on my angles.

so yeah if you have epic ideas that I can doodle, i will probably do them for no charge!

this was pretty fun to research for, except for finding colours for the mod cause most of the photos were in black and white and I was so tempted to just colour the mod in greyscale but then he didn't really look like much of a mod, and now he looks like an extra from Austin Powers. Hurrah for 1960s britain!
Also I learnt that the mods and the rockers didn't really hate each other until the media started suggesting rifts between the two social groups!
PS: mods are the best

Thanks! Yeah, the gloves I'm making for now will be fingerless because I haven't got my head around stitch heights with each hook size, so making fingers that will fit properly is currently out of my skill range. One day though, one day.

Yeah, its her updated outfit for this year which is more of a mesh between a lot of older designs. I think its becoming tradition that her costume changes yearly though, but I'm really happy with this design.

I dunno, I sorta enjoy the smooth scheme of colors instead of being an eyesore
I also find the mixture in the design of his clothes to be pretty creative, saying it doesn't have to be flashy to have a sense of style
With the help of said colors, his expression gives him a calm and relaxed demeanor
My only question is about what he's wearing. It looks like he's mixed in his Coffeeboy costume with his regular clothes

With that said, from what I've seen (and read), he does indeed seem like someone who could end up on either side of the scale of good and evil pursuing his own coffee based interests.

Well yeah, I was really wanting to get across the idea that Teagirl and Coffeeboy looked at their wardrobes and thought 'Yeah I could wear that', because at the end of the day, they're youngish and at varying levels of personal wealth. I guess I wanted them, as the Britland Central Duo (at least for the comics I write for Britland City) I wanted them to show that Britland isn't meant to be your typical supers-filled city with your typical supers. I admit its a bit jarring, particularly since Coffeeboy's mask is oddly small and not good at hiding his face, haha.

Thank guys!  That person is the witchy witch who curses people. The kid with the crown is one of my fav characters to write for at the moment.

Ahh thank you. It's odd cause before this I hadn't drawn properly for at least 3 months due to various issues in my life, but definitely draw where you can!

also I managed to condense my palette into a size that doesn't make me want to cry (far too used to having my palette limited as a marker artist so those colour wheels just make my head spin) so I made this straight away

Ahhh thanks Cipher.
I'm in agreement though. The first one is an example of what occurs when I'm given too much choice in terms of colours to use. I think I overworked how dark it is in order to contrast the light. I'll probably end up recolouring it with a more limited palette one day.

rtil I miss drawing girls with pretty colours :(

Ahhh that's a good plan. When I'm back on my main PC with my tablet next week I'll try adding in some red and blue and see how it goes.

it doesn't specifically have to be red and blue though, it could be yellow and purple or even green as long as you make the background match

dark, dank dungeons can be represented with a wide array of colors depending on the mood you want to convey ie green would be more like a nasty swampy/sewer type thing while red would be infernal/volcanic

you know, just as examples to make the background more pleasant to look at

also i just found out i've been using ie wrong and it should in fact be eg as it is an example
