nice colours/pose, they're definitely your strongest points so far
i think my main crit is the anatomy, rtil does use very stylized and exagerrated anatomy a lot of the time especially on his girl trio but it usually balances out with the proportions. with this chick her legs seem far too long compared to her torso, and her arms are a little stubby too
the main problem is the forearm i think, it just looks too short in general
ive always been kinda mixed on your lineart too. its pretty sketchy and the detailing is always very loose but i kinda like it that way, it makes things seem a bit more natural. you might wanna spend a bit more time on it in general though, im not really feeling the construction on the boots cos the lineart is really loose and rough
ok big gay crit over peace out
wow anigen you are improving a lot! gj!
lmao nice rtil thing.

thank you MarcK! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
wow ya this is probably the most complete tthing you've ever done! i like the colors and the pose. things start to get a little crazy when it gets down to the legs, but it's still pretty solid. now keep it up
(:

also yes i know it's messy i did that on purpose
i hope that someday you will make something polished on purpose too.

someday maybe
maybe in 7 or 8 years while you're still young
<anigen> i'm gonna paint something every day
ryan you're the biggest ball-buster i've ever met but i don't know what i'd do without ya
as if i've made a difference to the handful of barely finished doodles you've made over the past few years
i truly feel like your scribbles are not a bad thing but i think you need to make them into something a little more stylistic, and less like a sketch. maybe give more time to your actual lines. i see that you like to suggest lighting by the amount in any given area and thats okay, maybe you could sketch out your piece and then hatch those areas, or at least make your sketchy lines look a little bit more presentable
remember what i said on the phone earlier about this piece and your developing style and youll know what im getting at
its a nice piece conceptually and the colours are great AND you can really run with this sketchy watercolour style you just have to refine it. i think a good example of something 'rough but complete' is metal gear solid's artwork:

whats bothering me most about your drawings now is the hair - its too undefined and i think you're using too many lines. but yeah i actually like how loose the faces look in this

maybe but you've made a difference to my LIFE and EMOTIONS does that count

this type of criticism is why i post my stuff here and not deviantart. thanks a bunch (:

yes, im a huge fan of shinkawa's art. in fact, that's what i had in mind when i made this last one. but yeah, i probably overdid it on the scribbles. i hate to make excuses but this painting was for someone kinda so it was more emotion driven than "i want to make something good"-driven. but somehow it came out sort of acceptable. originally it was just going to be blotches of colors
but anyway i'll keep all of this in mind, thanks guys (even rtil)

i think you should start off constructing your figures with shapes (hell, even a wireframe) before you go in and start rendering details. you do a pretty good job guessing at facial proportions but not so much with the rest of the body. i really do recommend putting your john k hate aside for a couple hours and looking at his entries on construction (http://johnkstuff.blogspot.com/search/label/construction) because he explains it a lot better than i ever could
good to see you're drawing more frequently though (:
how long were these poses? they look like none of them could have been longer than 5 minutes. there's some good flow in these, but they're all very messy and extremely loose. also, why are they like 5,000 px wide. it's too big zoomed in and too small squished in the window. just resize them to like 900/1000px width at the most next time. no need to get that big for tiny sketches

you drive a good point, i need a lot of improvement at construction. i'll learn it and make it work, thanks

believe it or not, some were up to 20-30 minutes long, but i always draw really fast and get them done in like 5-10 minutes and end up drawing the pose multiple times or getting bored and start sketching other things i see in the room.
i sized it like that because i thought it'd look cool but yeah it is really huge, i'll size it differently next round
try spending at least 10 minutes on a pose, focusing on the entire body first for the proportions, then going back in and doing detail and shadows. it's also a good idea to draw maybe just a hand, a face or an arm instead of the entire body which can be overwhelming doing over and over. if i don't like the silhouette of a pose i will do that
another guider for me is to do a light shade of the general shadow on a body as a guide point for detail later. i use the side of the pencil, then brush over it with my finger to give it a soft shade look. the looseness of it allows me to go back and "draw" with my eraser and put in better detail with hatching later
Quote from: rtilif i don't like the silhouette of a pose i will do that
of if the model looks like the medic
but i agree, that sounds like a good idea. i'll try some of that next time (friday)
also:
- i'm taking art classes (not just loose 3-hour sketch groups) starting by the end of April
- i'm getting a new mic (the blue yeti )
- my regular schoolwork slump is just about evened out
- i've been practicing my mixing
soooo expect more art + music probably
