I watched the preview for Youth in Revolt last night.
It was funny and very expressive.
The story itself is mildly dark but the dialogue and character setting was very comical.
Also, it was great seeing Michael Cera playing a different character for once. Fresh.
I'd recommend the movie to you "youths."
After the movie though, there was a Q&A with Michael Cera and Miguel Arteta.
The questions were mostly poorly worded and near shit in quality, but Michael Cera was able to pull it off as a clever guy for the night.
I'm pretty sure people were filming it so you might be able to catch it on youtube if you'd like.

heard about the movie and someone was gonna send me the book but i never got it. might see it
T'was a free show, but definitely worth ticket money to watch.
I'm thinking of getting the book as well. Miguel and Michael said it's very closely tied to the book, so I'm going to hope it's just as promising.

the movie was actually pretty good film with some really good dialogue.
Michael Cera DOES play a different role. The best part about that film was his other persona that he had created in his head. Every time he was on screen he stole the film. I laughed at almost every single line he said and its great that Cera is able to play another character than the regular "kid who tries to get laid," with his other persona saying lines like "I'll wrap your legs around my head and wear you like the crown that you are." The movie gave me some nice laughs but it felt like the movie didn't start until around 20 minutes in.
but oh my god if i see that rebel hipster type girl character again i know its a fictional story but something about these roles have always bugged the hell out of me. i dont like this type of character at all.

i saw this today and to be honest i liked it alot. i really liked michael cera's dual character as opposed to him just being michael cera, and there's some funny moments with the parents too. if you're going into the movie expecting michael cera to do breakthrough acting you're probably going to be disappointed, but i think that the story was good on its own.
Since when was a movie's quality solely based on the actor?

I also decided to watch Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0981227/) and Paperheart (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1331064/) over the last 3 days of winter break.
To be frank, I found Michael Cera to be playing the mild, timid guy (the "usual") on NANIP. The movie itself was alright.
Then, I watched Paperheart. This was a better movie, tbh. Michael Cera wasn't playing the usual guy, but a more natural character. The story was great and also touching. I don't want to come across sounding like a Michael Cera fanatic, but I generally don't like the vibe of people denying to watch or like the movie because of the actor's past roles.

i like micheal cera and his charachter he usually always plays but Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist is a bad movie
youth in revolt he does play another charachter that strays away from his regular persona he always plays and he pulls it off perfectly

From the trailer it looks like a movie made to show that michael cera doesnt always have to be the timid quiet little fuck that he looks like. The plot looks like it's a metaphor for his acting career.
Still need to see it. The poster caught my eye but after looking at it more I shrugged. If I really like the movie I'd probably look for a different style.
