Post by: texas on November 15, 2009 07:42 AM
well it depends on the movie
if its some fantasy epic then a painting is appropriate
while if its like Crank or something some gritty photo of jason statham aiming a gun makes a lot more sense than a collage of characters
there are a lot of movies that it wouldnt fit for
including the movie in this topic

I think you're sort of missing the point by relating all painted posters to the star wars type

(https://thebackalleys.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.moviegoods.com%2FAssets%2Fproduct_images%2F1020%2F202499.1020.A.jpg&hash=0aacba04141dd1477c187aeb1ebe0fcb48029829)
(https://thebackalleys.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fchasness.files.wordpress.com%2F2008%2F10%2Farmy_of_darkness.jpg&hash=c215340c2787c084c26b6a69d4dbed1fb820acea)

painting gives you a lot more freedom than photomanipulation. would any of these posters be much improved by a lens flare, explosion or that hideous brown tint that's become so popular?

not that they arent amazing paintings

except for star wars, army of darkness and metropolis, i actually agree.

It's not like movie posters that are photoshopped together are better, it's just that for some movies it just fits a lot better.

If a movie is really bad though, not even a painted poster would help much. Big Momma's House is a very good example of a movie poster that would've looked horrible if it was painted. (Not saying the movie was either good or bad, it's just a nice example)

i think given the artist has the right idea, a painted poster could look better than a photoshopped poster under all circumstances

Also, I would love to have a Big Mammas House poster in epic StarWars painted style.

I read the comic when it first came out, so i'm interested to see how they'll go about this movie.

i am kind of glad they made the characters a little older. hit-girl in the comics looks like she's a five years old running around and decapitating people.

anyone else see it, there were some gripes i first had when i watched it mostly because i hate how most teen actors, but the sort of charm it had with it made it pretty great. i enjoyed it alot, and hopefully if there is a sequel coming out it will be much better

yeah i found it a really cheap way to end the situation quickly and cleanly, plus it was shot in such a way that i just had to shake my head.  i mean, if it was meant to be shot badly on PURPOSE as satire, it really didn't come across that way to me.  it just came across as rushed and cheap.

I must say I didnt like the comic at all so I never finished it some months ago and had no interest in the movie,I just finished the comic today, to be honest I really really liked the ending and I've been hearing good things about the movie.
Did they change the ending in the movie, how did it end?

Post by: shura on April 18, 2010 04:41 AM
i wasn't bothered by the ending so much. the entire movie in general was kind of silly so the ending didn't seem entirely out of place imo. the fight scenes were fucking fantastic and i thought there was a great balance of humor, drama and suspense. also hitgirl is the fuckin coolest character ever
