i've been doing research since recently i've been really interested in how much hfcs is in the food that we eat and how bad the food that we eat at fast food places actually is
according to numerous places that i've looked into, we don't really know what's better for us, and we just assume that we do
for example, if you go to subway and are trying to eat healthily because it's the "healthy alternative to fast food", you'll probably get some veggie sandwich on wheat bread right? wheat bread is better for you right? and of course you'll add some sort of cheese and dressing because otherwise it wouldnt be that good, but thats ok because it's a VEGGIE sandwich
well i thought that shit too, but after looking into i found out that there is nothing really good at all about the wheat bread at subway. not only is it not even whole wheat, but it has just as many calories as the white bread, but with more calories from fat and more saturated fat. and on top of that, IT HAS HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP IN IT. why the hell would you need a sugar substitute for bread??? i dunno but according to nutrient facts, getting white bread would actually be better
and while there are at least fresh veggies in the sandwhich, the dressings all have hfcs in them and tons of calories plus all of the cheese and dressing is bad and actually has more calories than a fuckin big mac
but of course we all know that (at least american) big macs are made with frozen meat that tastes like shit and comes from corn fed cows and is probably extremely high in fat so im sure subway is better for you than THAT, but if i want to eat something healthy i feel like i have to start a farm just so that im not eatin so much fucking CORN
what the hell should i do about this shit you guys???

anyone who thinks they're going to be eating healthy at a mega chain is kidding themselves. if you really want to eat healthy, you cook your own meals and buy your own ingredients, or at least buy local.

they don't use hfcs in bread for sweetening, i remember hearing it was used to make the crust a more pleasant color.

pepperidge farms APPARENTLY makes a bread that doesn't have it but i mean come on

All the major bread companies (even in like the 12 grain/flax breads) have hcfs in them.

the wraps at subway are even worse than the bread. the wraps have twice the calories and lots of sugar. you can still get healthy food at subway, but its probably a lot more limited than you think it is :/

i'm gonna go on a limb and say that nothing in subway is healthy for you. none of their ingredients are fresh, which means everything has preservatives in it. and if it doesn't have HFCS, it probably has aspartame, phenylalanine on top of hidden calories and saturated fats.

My average meal from Subway (6" turkey and Swiss on white bread with chips) is 13 grams of fat. I'm not entirely sure how they still manage to pass of as healthy.

I don't get anything else on it, I literally meant turkey and Swiss. I could get wheat bread, but I don't like the taste as much and I can't imagine it would make that big a difference. Also, the chips are a large part, but the sandwich itself is still 8 grams or something.
