i have a digital download sitting around, i actually won't install it until december because i won't have enough free time to reinstall everything (i'm on xp) until then.
anyone else have it or going to get it? and more importantly, anyone have it and using a radeon video card? i need to know if it supports windows aero, because the "windows 7 upgrade advisor" tells me it won't. but i think it's LYING
isn't windows 7 just a compressed version of vista that runs faster?
no, it's a new operating system
it is much faster than vista in performance/gfx benchmarks though
i've had windows 7 professional (my school got it early for some reason) through my school for the past 2 months, and it's the best os i've ever used
i can buy it at a discount price because im a student but i wont be albe to install it on my computer because i only have 1gb memory so it wont run :/
also i remember reading somewhere that only the home premium edition doesnt support aero, professional and ultimate do, but you can always use a crack!
aero isn't available in windows 7 starter, but it is available in home premium.
i have a friend who runs win7 on a 1gb/ram netbook and he says it runs great btw
well f!
I ordered the free upgrade last night
they say it won't ship until dec. 1st but i don't believe them
either way i'm really excited 4 dis
we even had a fuckin cake in my computer class to celebrate
i've been using windows 7 professional for 2 months what's the big whup it's just windows vista with a slightly better interface and all the updates already installed
the big whup is that 80% of PC users still use windows XP, which means they\\\'re probably still using IE6
it\\\'s also performed way better on benchmark tests than vista which is good for netbook users and low-end PC\\\'s that can\\\'t run vista for shit

omg
i haven't heard/read such great things about it. i think you should wait it out a bit more. or at least wait a few weeks to read up on reviews/criticism of it.
never gonna download it

i am waiting for a couple reasons, and this is one of them. every OS launch is bound to have hardware/software compatibility quirks, and i'm anxious to hear if there's any major problems. so far so good, though. in fact, i have hardly heard anything negative about win7, sans anti-microsoft blogs pushed by google.
but who cares what google says
unfortunately, a lot of people
to celebrate, japan is selling heart attacks

hack the planet etc. etc.
if i get 7 it won't be for a while, even with the open beta there are bound to be launch issues and I don't care about upgrading enough to deal with all of that right away

o< ANTI-MICROSOFT BLOGS PUSHED BY GOOGLE !!!!!!!!!!1111 (http://twitter.com/conspiracyduck)
you don't think google openly competes with microsoft?
i know google competes with microsoft but i think it\\\'s far more likely that bing is pushing pro-windows 7 blogs
jesus fuck i can\\\'t type today
windows 7 is great and there are no kinks it has never crashed on me, although neither did vista. xp and linux crashed on me all the time though.
xp still shits out on me i might get windows 7 soon and fuk linux ok
then you're doing something wrong because it works the other way around for like everyone else

you're just an xp shit with his head in a little hole. you don't remember all the times programs just stop responding.
i am too cool for linux now if you excuse me im going to use my iphone to twitter people that im drinking bubble tea because i am so hip and cool
it's like that with everyone and you think that's just the way it is and the way it has to be because you've been blinded with hate for vista despite that after the service pack(s) it's been much more stable than xp
i havent tried vista and i get mixed reviews about it so i didnt want to get it but i hear nothing but good reviews for windows 7
did you upgrade vista or did you do a clean install billy

more stable than an os that hasn't crashed on me in months, probably years?
yeah right
Quote from: rtildid you upgrade vista or did you do a clean install billy
i upgraded to rc1 when that came out and then did a clean install when official professional came out a few months ago
i think its better to do a clean install. i heard that people who upgraded from vista had a lot of issues with it
if you don't feel like formatting i recommend doing custom install and then transfering your data from the windows.old folder.
what i usually do is put all my User folders on my D drive and my os and apps on my C drive, so when i want to install a new OS i just wipe C and then set the user folder location to D instead of the default C and all my data comes back like magic. my videos folder is filled with hentai, my desktop is filled with bullshit and icons for shit i never use, my pictures folder is filled with pictures of my waifu sasha
i will have to do that anyway because i try not to use the C drive for any storage purposes in the first place
I built a new computer a few months ago and originally ran it on Ubuntu since I hated Windows XP. Even though I like Ubuntu, a lot of my favorite programs do not work on Linux OS's so I duel-booted with Windows 7 after using Linux for about two or three weeks. Later on, I decided to just use Windows 7 as my main OS and I have had very few problems with it. It ticks me off how I can't seem to permanently disable sticky keys though. Everytime I reboot my PC and hold down the shift key for a short while, it's enabled again. That's pretty much the only major problem I have had with the OS in the last two months. Other than that, I really like Windows 7 and think it's vastly better than XP. I never owned Vista but a ton of people had a lot of problems with it. So many people have had the blue screen of death with Vista which is so bizarre considering how I haven't gotten that since I used to use Windows 98. o_o FYI, I switched to XP in '03 and I used to get it frequently back when I used Windows 98.
I once spilled water on my computer the end
