Has anyone here ever done an internet-based cartoon that's been made traditionally(Not like cels, just following the old school rules&principals)?
Like... having someone do storyboards, someone do layouts, someone do animation, and someone do inking... and all the other jobs required.
I'd really like to be able to do that sort of thing. I think if it's being done by a small group of people, jobs can be crossed over into (helping out the other guy), and people could do multiple jobs.
Whenever I see collabs, I always see people wanting everyone to make a completed piece of animation instead of everyone working on the same thing.
I've been messing with animating on the computer since I was like 12 (gifs and powerpoint), been wanting to do a flash since I was 13, but I've never finished what I've started because I never envisioned it being a one-man project and it always ended up being too big for me as a kid to finish.
I think if a couple of willing to work artists got together and skyped frequently this sorta thing could be done. As long as they actually WANT to do it. I've run into people who are like "YEAAHH I'LL HELP YOU!" then they just don't.
I'd like to see this happen probably in this order:
Premise
Character Design
Storyboards
Voice Acting
Layouts (Can be skipped if the boards are well drawn)
Animation
Inking/Coloring
Backgrounds can go whenever, if we even do those
So, I'd say those are the "jobs". If you're interested post your skype name, what job or jobs you'd like to do, and any suggestions for other things to add. Suggestions are not only welcome, but encouraged. I'd like it if everyone working on it can be involved in the premise portion of it, since I'd want everyone to be working on something they'd like. Quality is appreciated, but I wanna put completion over it. Make it good, but don't make it perfect. Just make sure it's funny and put your heart into it.
I'm sure we all have a lot of ideas for things that are a bitch to make... so why not make them together?
I'm willing to do all the jobs I listed, but the ones I'd prefer to do are:
Premise
Design
backgrounds
Storyboards
Voice Acting

If you wanna be a cool kid, HELP ME MAKE SOMETHING AWESOMEK?
(on a side note, I have 2 other artists that I could get to help on this that I know in person. Distance working is harder, but it's not impossible)
everyone here is too lazy for that shit
furthermore whos paying for all of this
Yeah, actual traditional animation is expensive as fuck! Just 500 frames of animation paper costs at least $30 just for example.

It's for fun. But... I just wanted traditional art principals, but the medium could be like flash or tvpaint. If you really want money for it, maybe it could be sold somehow when it's finished.
The thing with laziness... If a shitton of people work together on one thing, you CAN be lazy. You can sing in a choir and your voice tone doesn't mean much at all. All you need is the right pitch. (right idea)
But like I said, I don't want it to be perfect. I just want it to exist. So like, you can shitty pictures and still contribute to it, as long as they're not meant to be shitty and aren't gay.
I've been looking more than just here for people, though, if that makes any difference. I figured that if I even just found one person here that'd be cool.
unfortunately tba isn't really the place for this just because of the community, that and its a lot of management for a 'fun' project. its an ok idea in principle but you really do need a dedicated lot. its definitely possible to make a cartoon this way but you're asking for trouble doing it over the internet.
some will be enthusiastic, some will go "OH YEAH COOL DEFO" and then produce jack shit because they 'lost their tablet', some will start off promising and then never work on it again, and then you'd get your zekeys and your Jseeds who will post a torrent of "NEVER GONNA GET DONE" and "TOLD U SO!!!" and some image macros sprinkled here and there
i dont mind collabs i would have enthusiasm in one if like
i liked the person who was hosting it
but i dont even know who you are happy or seen your cartoons
and some collabs here dont even seem realistic like

where they want 62 damn people to join and expect each one to be quality
^this
you might wanna post some previous work as well as something to show you could manage all this stuff
I had been thinking of doing something similar, but yeah as lenko said... youre asking for trouble doing it over the internet.
It could probably work if it was a very short cartoon and if you could actually FORCE (as in, a more professional activity) everyone to work on it on a dayly basis, but everyone (myself included) is worthless and lazy
even now I should be doing flashes for like 3 collabs Im in and Im not working on any of em!
Getting to know each other online is easiest to do with skype, I think. But yeah, it does suck doing anything online. but I think if I had some people willing to help it'd be a motivator for my artist friends in real life.
I wouldn't mind doing something even as short as like 30 seconds. Really my only goal with this one is just making something good in what I see as a good way to do it.
In terms of proving that I can organize it? Talking to me is really the only way for you to decide whether you think I can. I'd really like it so we had everyone organizing it, but if anyone were to want me to I'd do my best to organize it myself.
previous work?
http://happythepirate.deviantart.com/ (http://happythepirate.deviantart.com/) Look on my DA to see if you like the kind of stuff I draw.
It's not very good, started this one up and never finished a year ago, it was only a 2 man project, though:

I think I've gotten better at designing characters and drawing since then.
