it could be a bit more lively. plus there's not really much going on for the gargantuan amount of space you're given

try cramming more characters round the pumpkin and put some stuff in the background

watch your lighting/shading too, with the main light source at the back your characters should mostly be in shade, the dog shouldnt have any light on him at all seeing as the pumpkin is blocking the light source

idk it looks a little boring to be honest. i think if you added texture to khale's hair and the grass, and added more details to the house and fence in the background, it would look a lot better

another thing, the whole sunset idea really doesnt suggest 'halloween' to me. if anything it looks more like sunrise. go for more of a dusk/twilight thing if you redraw/tweak it, you could have some cool-ass lighting coming from a candle inside the pumpkin or whatever

if I remember correctly badly drawn dog has a lot of loose,sketchy lines. stay away from the line tool when drawing him and try to... well, draw a badly drawn dog.

i think the expressions need a lot of expression and character.

at the moment they're all just like:

why is that RAB character all off in a corner and not doing anything important
if you're going to have another character, it needs to be part of the composition, not drawn as an afterthought

i think, again, even with just these four characters, more stuff needs to be going on. it lacks energy and personality

make khale more proud of his pumpkin for starters, he just looks bored lmao

the RAB cat should be at least doing something halloweeny instead of staring at the pumpkin looking bored, even if he's just taking off a scary mask or something

maybe have the dog munching on a bit of the pumpkin. don't worry i've made the same mistakes by just having characters sat/stood around before - when they're interacting with their environment and each other its so much better.

maybe everyone's reaction doesnt have to be positive/neutral - maybe one character thinks the pumpkin is ruined and is really angry. stuff like that, contrasting personalities and just a bit more 'life' will make your picture so much more interesting to look at and more well thought out

im also not liking the secondary shadow that the dog is casting, looks kinda tacky

khale's expression, to me, is really strange. he's supposed to look happy but he looks like he's having a panic attack. you should look at pictures of people smiling and try to apply some of those features to khale's face. his mouth and eyes are causing problems for me

khale should be having a big grin though, maybe study leafworthys own khale shorts and see how he makes the character smile

usually when you smile your eyes scrunch up and obviously a huge grin forms, the trick is pulling this off without making your character look psychotic lmao!

combined with the right artwork plus alpha, blend layers, and masks, there is no better way to do lighting effects in flash
