Title: weird fill problem in flash
Post by: Blordow on August 4, 2009 08:52 AM
whenever i got to edit a symbol, sometimes when i go inside the symbol, parts of the graphic will fill itself to match the outline color.

for instance the image below;

its really fucking annoying. i want to edit something, but it fuckin decides to fill itself in these weird places on several graphics/movie clips i've made.

figure a, shows the inside graphic selected

figure b, shows after i have unselected the image and decides to fill in places.

I know that problem. It also happens from time to time when you draw something with a brush, like a circle, it sometimes automatically fills with the selected color. It's really annoying but I have no idea how to get rid of it, nor do I know how to get rid of your problem (which I'm having, too from time to time).

It's not fixed in CS4 and has been there since flash MX if I remember correctly.

It's called frostbite. What you have to do is either redraw it or reshape the outline around the effected area.

What you do is exit out of the symbol, then find that symbol in the Library and reselt, then it should work. It only happens if you go to the symbol directly within the scene by clicking on it on the stage. Annoying yes, yet it's been a problem with EVERY SINGLE VERSION of Flash.

im not sure i understand the problem you're having exactly. you're trying to color something in, and for some reason its fucking up your other symbols?

what if you move your symbols to another layer temporarily and lock that layer so it cant be edited?
idk   !!

basically when i go inside a symbol, some shaded parts will all of a sudden be filled in with the same colour as the linework's colour.

if that makes any sense? notice the first image at the top has a slight lighter green shade on the bush on the left? but as soon as i go to edit it, it will fill itself with the linework colour.

the best solution i know of is to accept the fact that flash sometimes does these horrible things so you have to redraw the fill
