As I look at this pic, I'm actually gonna say that what appears to be rtil's giant arm might actually be Kirb's knee.
It's harder to tell for certain because of the shadow because from the lighting.
rtil doesn't know what was going on so the best thing to do would be to ask kirb when he shows up

I think the camera just messed up and stretched out his arm

maybe he moved right as the shot was being taken.  If the camera processes the image from side to side that could have happened.

the way the picture is framed also hints that the camera may have been swung upward in a moment of spontaneity.  That could have caused the glitch.
