Title: xCode
Post by: billy on May 2, 2009 11:15 AM
why does xcode keep fucking replacing what i\\\'m writing with the wrong thing. I\\\'ve tried to turn off this "feature" but it seems apple knows what code i want to write better than i do and wants to drive me fucking insane by making a million things autocomplete while i\\\'m typing. I have to just keep my eyes closed while i\\\'m typing because it will go so far as to change the case of the line of code i\\\'ve written to try to match what it things i\\\'m going to write (which is always wrong up until the last character i type)

i know none of you know the answer to my question because there\\\'s no such thing as programming on a mac so no one can relate, i\\\'m just venting

besides, none of you know your beeps from your boops and that\\\'s what programming is all about

You're an idiot for coding on a mac.

They're so useless.

The keyboard sucks, you have to hit an extra key just to do most things, and the really suck rendering swf files.

well there has to be some reason why people use macs instead of pcs. they are not cheaper than pcs so that would be a stupid point to bring up.

people like macs because their interface and design is really nice to look at and once you get used to it, easy to navigate. i havent used a mac before but from what i know they arent supposed to be that bad. whenever people use a mac for the first time they think it sucks because they were told it sucks and with that kind of attitude you cant really learn anything.

fuck you, alright? i mean your fucking name is rob, could you make it any more obvious? you're either a windows xp or linux fanboy and you're obviously really into IT. if you're still in college you go to your classes wearing a fucking business suit and you have a stupid networks engineering job where basically all you do is set up networks in windows xp with the culmination of all your talents being typing ipconfig into the command prompt. fuck you right in the ass because you don't know shit about me. anyways its important to be able to program on and for many different platforms in order to reach the largest market of people.

did i mention you're a shit? it's pretty rude to call someone an idiot when you don't even know what they're doing. by the fucking way, i was writing an iphone app, and you can ONLY do that in OSX. for your information (you fucking faggot) i do not own a mac computer. i installed osx on my netbook and it runs much faster than xp and linux did (although vista x64 is still my os of choice, i need OSX to program for the iphone).

Quote from: Rob HalfordThey're so useless.
what can't you do on a mac that you can do on a pc? pc gaming, that's pretty much it. eat my ass.

oh sorry did i pwn your head apart? why the fuck would you have to hit an extra key? nice job talking out of your ass.

Quote from: Rob Halfordand the really suck rendering swf files.
this is not true, seeing as macs and pcs use the same components, the rendering all comes down to adobe's flash player plugin, which i can attest runs just as fucking well on osx as it does in windows, under the same fucking hardware.

so in conclusion you're a big bald faggot with an agenda of fanboy faggotry.

i'm 2 the ranting gryphon and that's all i have to say about that

Alright. Let's get a few things straight.

I've owned both operating systems. I owned a MacBook for a year and during the school year, use one 5 days a week. I'm not an IT guy and never have been. You could say I'm Apple's target audience because I'm not a genius with computers. I barely know my parts and specs.

Maybe it's just me, but every flash game I try to play on a mac has the fps cut in half. The controls don't respond as well for the keyboard on a mac either.
Here's something I found on a mac forum.
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=289386 (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=289386)

And about the "extra key" statement, I have to hit alt + f9 to open to actions panel on a mac. I have to open it frequently, so it gets a bit annoying at times.

Fuck, I take calling you an idiot back. It was dumb sarcasm that obviously hit a nerve for you.

No arguments with teachers? What can you do in Macs do that Windows can't (aside from GarageBand, which is the only part of Mac that interests me)? I used Flash MX in Windows, Visual Studio (and other development software) on Windows, and many other things!

And remember that Macs aren't used to guard information over the internet, so "Macs dont have viruses and hackers" is a pretty bullshit excuse to get a Mac. The lack of right-clicking is also annoying (I dont wanna have to press 2 buttons to "right click", Im lazy!). And it wouldnt hurt to put the "On" button on the front (but no, they had to go with the whole "egnoromic, classy, futuristic, what you see is what you get look" for their computers and make things complicated. It took me a while for me to figure out how to turn those on).

and nelson, "what can you do in macs what windows cant" is one of the worst arguments ive ever heard. we never said macs were superior we just said macs arent as bad as people make them out to be.

also as far as i know you can buy a 2button mouse for the mac.

I have a one-button mouse and I can use right click; ya just gotta click the button to the right of the scroll wheel
as far as keybaords go I like mac's keyboard better when it comes to typing but the shortcuts still confuse me a little - press the flower and the weird abstract thingy and the delete button (the 2nd one not the first) to open blahblahblah

i think the bottom line here is that macs are nice machines but it's a lot easier to program on a pc because that's the environment programmers have worked in for a long time, so the software is more suited to their needs

And the proprietary software is astronomically expensive.

It's like $500 for a 300GB Time capsule, when you can get a 300GB HDD for $100.
