start by drawing real people so you get a feel for human bodies

in order to break the rules you must first follow them

why does he only have one arm
why is he wearing an ear ring that looks like it was designed for girls
you need to learn how to color in, not outside

besides that its ok i guess the style is somewhat fresh.

then I guess you should move up to pen, because it really limits you, but after a while you'll learn to plan your strokes and etc  I mean my sketch book is full of drawings that just didn't work out, but thats how it should be, and by looking back you can see the specific points you screwed up on.

and sketch as in don't make each line you draw the assumed final, but redo it several times until its going in the right place.

it's part of his cloak k?

____
also

sigh...

i try.   i really try drawing real people, but they all turn out bad/not up to my expectations

maybe i'm just not being realistic.   Maybe because i look down at myself saying things like "your never going to get any better!", or "your drawing suck!", and "your a moron!", I never improve.   I've been drawing seriously since 2006 and i've been putting myself down ever since.   I've have improved since then, but only by a margin.   I guess i really need more self-confidence of I ever want to become a good artist.   That and more practice.

...but that's just a theory

i feel this way too, because truthfully i produce nothing but waste which is why i barely keep up with art anymore

not trying to beat down at ya even more, but yeah i concur with this

well producing pages and pages of waste is essential, I really hardly do BIG peices, it just doesn't up what I can really do

I mean when you stop making stuff to show people and redo and redo and redo peices and features that stymie you, thats when you get somewhere.  In fact I only really got down to grinding on my art a year ago, and I've gotten miles better.

pick an object like a tea kettle and draw it. and then draw it again. and again. and repeat for 3 days. then do a shoe. and physically draw the thing you see not how you think it looks. everyday.
