hey I'm trying to get better at painting with photoshop and animating and such

all of these are a little old, but it's just so convenient to just use images you've already uploaded

I really like each one for different reasons

The first displays a great pose without the normalo "Tough-guy ahhhhahhHAHHHAAAA" look with arms crossed etc

The second is wonderfully realistic in tone, all the way to the green approaching the core

The third employs a nice touch of blu into the shade, which really complements and adds to it

and I'm looking forward to seeing the fourth finished

these are fantastic. The apple in particular is spectacular, and the portraits are also very nice. Thought the Bill Murray one was George Lucas for a few seconds, though. Maybe shrink the forehead a smidgen in the future

I don't know, I think the hair is alright. It keeps a balance with the collar and tie. Very nice stuff tmk btw

wow. your portraits are just stunning. the colors you use for skin tone and shading are so realistic. i don't know if you use a live model or a photograph for reference, but you seem to have a very strong grasp on the way light looks when it's cast across the face. you know exactly where to put the light and the shadows, and it looks amazing. are you in art school?

thanks. I used photo reference for both the two portraits i just posted. I like live models, but I paint really slow, so I usually end up using photos of friends or anyone on the internet that will give me permission to use theirs. and no, I'm self-taught.

im not sure what kind of feedback i could give you. your artwork is very beautiful and that's really the only thing i can think of to say.

i like the campnorth banner, but i think the two guys on the left (the guy with the green shirt and glasses, and the guy with the yellow shirt and dark skin) should have more shading on them. they look very flat and out of place compared to the other people in the banner.

I really like the three nuns you put in the banner. the way they are drawn reminds me of a spanish artist i used to like. i can't remember his name tho.

what do you think of photoshop backgrounds in flashes? I hate drawing in flash so I usually do all of my backgrounds in a different program, but I always feel like the brushwork feels out of place behind the animation

i actually like this a lot tmk

also I think most backgrounds made in photoshop can look ok in flash as long as the artwork/outlines in the flash look somewhat similar.

having never done a photoshop background this probably doesnt mean a lot coming from me, but Ive seen cartoons where it does work

yeah whereas a well defined sketch and plan for laying down paint are necessary to avoid wasting supplies in trad mediums, digital art really gives you a lot of room to experiment with virtually no repercussions. i like working from loose, messy initial sketches and watching the picture transform along the way

playing around with shitty compression is probably always pretty hit or miss, but I think some of the textures it creates are pretty interesting
