I made this 'cause psi's cool and should have his own music
kick ass
congratulations, man, this is incredible!
Incredible indeed! A nice opening and a kick arse beat!
Nice, kind of scary at first.
unf unf tss unf
dats me getting down to it
i really really liked that
Thanks guysss glad you like it.
I think it's a bit of luck that it turned out that way but I'm glad it did.
What I ended up with was waay different than what I started with, and psi can vouch for that.
I think I'll keep this topic a little active 'cause I plan on making more.
Also, Get it FreekC!
and crabarms, don't be afraid, it's just psi's mothership of groove.
do you get an error uploading music on the public folder?
so awesome
Woah...! This is pretty good.
Quote from: Billyso awesome
although i like your other stuff better, to be honest
rtil: Yep, there's always an error on line --, but I figured maybe if I try another day
Sonni: Glad you like! Where've you been BTW? I hardly see you anymore
Billy: Thanks, and you're gonna have to tell me just which others are better than this 'cause I think this tops most of 'em.

I'm going to graduate soon in a few months and I got some stuffs to finish up.
cant stop listening to it.
Quote from: SHADOWFOX2rtil: Yep, there's always an error on line --, but I figured maybe if I try another day
could you please retry and tell me where the error is so i can fix it?
I tried again. Yesterday, it was showing a white page with black letters simply saying there was an error on line 69 or 71.
The number at the end always changed.
Now, it's this
Warning: unlink() [function.unlink]: No such file or directory in /home/thebacka/public_html/ok/public/uploader.php on line 94

You think it's just too big? I made it so that is would be under but I dunno...
it sounds like an issue with how long it's taking to upload the file. when you get the chance, please give me the exact file you were using so i can test it. anayway, i actually listened to the song ( i had to log off of sheezyart to look at it because i can't look at anything when i'm logged in), it's really great. i'm putting it in my library
solid house tune mate. nice one
my only really minor critique is it's a little long for my taste at 11 minutes, otherwise its really good!
i'd like to use this in my dj sets so is there any chance you could send me the MP3?

You're probably right. That also explains why I saw you on Sheezy today
I'm in rtil's hall of music whoo!
And Frankie, thanks aaaaand I can either AIM/MSN it to you or have it uploaded here but I think rtil's trying to take care of the latter

Blordow, you are number 3 to catch that so far.
But I only used ooooooooooone ;_;
I had made this for psi in the beginning, and since that loop was called Faxing Berlin, I thought it would be stupid NOT to use it
Only hours after I had submitted it did I realize that I'd made a bad choice, but that's why this is the last of its kind
Also Frankie, if it's not there, than I don't think I can put it on there.
Just hit up my AIM and I'll send it to you then
hey this is really good! im trying to figure out how to download it so i can it on my mp3player, i hope you dont mind
I would like it for my mp3 to.
I can give it to youuuu
Just AIM/MSN me and I'll have it out hot and ready to order!
...unless you want to link the Sheezy URL to your WindowsMediaPlayer and save it there
Here's the instrumental of my track for that album that Armon decided to start up.
It's a little suckish, but it should be a lot better when I (or everyone else) put lyrics to it.
Hope you like anyways

but I figured I'd let you guys know I haven't died since Mothership Groove.
Here are 5 of 'em
Fearn Burn is hip yo
so is Joey Bang
everything else is alright
i tend to like fast stuff like this just so you know
I love the track named after me.
The others are great as well.

Hey thanks you two
Yeah MSN doesn't do anything I do justice
NEWS: I was completely unaware that deadmau5 actually made a track out of Faxing Berlin!!
Because of this I'm probably gonna strip what I did of its name and call it a remix or something.
Will probably make another (and better) Mothership Groove later, but dang...
Also made this yesterday in like 20 minutes.
Will work on more later...runnin' outta attachment spaaaaaaace

Thanks, speaking of Streets of Rage...
Hey who likes WIPs and loops?
I made this one with rtil in my head for some reason
No homo of course...
I added a sorta hip-hoppish thing in the middle for someone else.
Hopefully there will be lyrics and me hiding behind a vocoder
Hot Damn Shadow! That's pretty great! Reminds me of a game I used to play on the Sega Saturn...
Groovy~♪
Here are two more loops for the TBA Fighter Soundtrack
The first one I finished a while ago, and it's missing quite a bit, but I felt a lonely jazz sorta thing going for Ry99an's character
There will probably be vocals and way more sax/woodwind work, but I didn't wanna invade into Jack Kirby's domain using brass.
The second one I just finished up a while ago, which is the music for Red's first character...himself.
It's a remix of one of his older tracks, but I worked on it during the past few days and figured I should post something.
I dunno what type of music this is, but I might slither back into jazz as I work more into it.
Chain Somking is freakin' awesome. You should make more Jazz based music.
they're both really good
i was listening to the stooges 1970 while i was listening to go straight and it sounded cool with the two of them overlapping
i think the two would make a remix together
Name's subject to change.
Inspired by Lenko and his *Dedede*, and a friend
Another track in the works, name subject to change
...needs a female touch lol
Thanks you four!
I had a headache all day today, so this probably isn't gonna sound right, but
Rotating 3D RPG Battle music
@@; <--- only listened to a bit of the demo for Lenko's flash 'cause she doesn't want to be too spoiled!
What I like about the battle music is how it really does convey the feel of turning/rotating~ There's a "constant" feel about it. I really like it and it makes we wanna find out how everything'll turn out once this music is coupled with the visuals.
This is gonna be a weird bunch of questions to ask, but as a curious person who just doesn't know what musicians go through, I hope you don't mind!
How do you come up with your music? Is it a matter of figuring out what kind of audio elements would the listener easily recognize and putting it together? What kind of process do you go through when, say, you're commissioned to work on something? Is it as easy as humming random notes to yourself, hoping it isn't too much like something you heard before, and expanding on them?
; I assume music isn't that easy to put together whenever I hear things like "bridge" and not quite know what it means, much less recognize it by ear. I wish I knew what one person meant when s/he said that Lady Gaga's music is complex compared to, say, Christina Aguilera's music...
Quote from: Hnilmik@@; <--- only listened to a bit of the demo for Lenko's flash 'cause she doesn't want to be too spoiled!
Actually, I do believe his uni animation's already done, and it went over well!
I had worked on this afterwards, partly because if he does decide to show us, I'm gonna get a few messages about where to download it
Quote from: HnilmikThis is gonna be a weird bunch of questions to ask, but as a curious person who just doesn't know what musicians go through, I hope you don't mind!

I don't think they're weird at all, in fact I'm flattered that you'd ask 'cause hardly anyone asks :]
Sometimes it's as easy as humming random notes to myself, other times, not so much.
I've found myself doing a lot of subconscious stuff where it sounds like something else without meaning to, it even sounds like my other stuff sometimes.
Quite often this semester, I'd just be sitting in class during a lecture and something would pop up. I'd have to write it down before I forgot
A lot of times, I'll stumble across a sound or something, and I'll get this of a look on my face.
But yeah, you hit the nail on the head about the expanding part.
They don't expand far though 'cause I used to get a bunch of ideas a day, so I'd stop working on one to work on another.
Sometimes I'd run out of ideas at the time, so I have many tracks left at 8 second loops
When I get "commissioned" to do something, usually I'll look at some pics (if he/she provided any) and gather ideas from there.
It's a bit more difficult because there's a deadline, and this is inbetween me fighting classes, but it's nothing I can't handle
[!--quoteo(post=0:date=:name=Hnilmik)--][div class=\\\'quotetop\\\']QUOTE(Hnilmik)[/div][div class=\\\'quotemain\\\'][!--quotec--]; I assume music isn't

I think there's a different level of difficulty for everyone.
I'm working on trying to be more diverse and use different sounds than the ones I use all the time.
I end up grabbing the quickest sounds I can (drum, clap, hihats, bass, piano) and do something quickly so I can work on it later.
I don't use the word bridge in music too often, but I can only assume they're talking about transitioning from one part of a piece of music to another.
I hardly know who Lady Gaga is apart from Pokerface, but I don't know enough about either of 'em to be able to compare them
I hope I answered your questionsssss :3

Quote from: HnilmikI wanna use your music soooooo muuuuucchh~
What do you mean by this I MUST KNOW
Weellll... I was thinking of using some of your music for my voice acting demo I'm (still) working on.
I'm trying to avoid copyrighted music and while there is good, royalty free music out there, like in NG's audio portal and Freeplay Music, I'd like more variety beyond the sweeping orchestral pieces and a lot of the pieces in the electronic genres aren't really applicable since they stand more on their own than lend themselves to the scene, if it makes any sense. If I voice a character on top of one of my favorite-but-unusable tracks, I find myself distracted by the background music if it's a good part and the not as good parts aren't as atmospheric. Your pieces sound great on their own, but would also still sound good while I'm voicing a character on top of it since they create atmosphere (ex: Lenko Land is great; Imagined neon and spotlights the moment I began listening).
For making a voice acting demo, the idea is to have the voiceover immediately establish the character and scene rather than have the SFX and music lead in, wasting precious seconds... So music that instantly complements the moment is a HUGE thing to me. It pulls everything together into a cohesive piece that arrests the audience's attention rather than having them pay attention to just one thing at a time and risk tuning out the other elements (ex: For Hipsterween, I praised both Lenko's animation and style as well as your great music 'cause it all came together and I couldn't say one was better than the other).
I didn't want to nab anything yet 'cause a lot of it isn't in the portal and I believe you're working on an album/collection/thing too.
xx; I'm also terrible at asking people for stuff this awesome 'cause I wouldn't be able to pay for it! What kind of person creates instrumentals/karaoke tracks upon request for free!?

I really like Zane's Mainframe most of all~
SAHU is also pretty good and Ipanema Mall makes me wonder why my elevators don't have music this cool.
I liked 275th street and Ipanema Mall best
They're really great
Zane and SAHU were part of the same track that I'd done for CVG.
It was originally supposed to be three but before I knew it, it had already been submitted.
275th Street was done for my buddy Grinace 'cause he said he was making a game.
I actually DID make an elevator version for Ipanema Mall, but my laptop crashed and I have to remake it if I'm gonna finish it like I want to.
I have a few tracks I listen to when I'm going up an elevator; it makes me :]

This is an update to the older version that was posted on the TBA Fighter Soundtrack when it was up

I was planning for the boss/character select music to have the similar melody.
I am still working on the TBA Fighter Soundtrack!

also I like the atonal parts (well they vary from the expected chord progression i guess? stop me if i'm talking like a music theory faggot) in Cosmic Chase a lot, it throws me off but at the same time it still sound really good!

I do make all of the drums and whatnot, and I do think the chords are getting a little repetitive, so I plan on changing that in the future.
For both of ya, I love that synth! It can also be found in KimioTech on the page below.
For you FL users, it's a sample in the Sytrus plugin called Saw to Square
I haven't used it recently though :[

Fuchsia Sea Bubbles
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/129fD2_Fuchsia%20Sea%20Bubbles%20%28loop%29.mp3
This is actually an old loop that's almost a year old!
I've decided to pick it back up again as an attempt to hold true to my 2010 resolution
Pretty much a smooth drum and bass track set to a fuchsia themed scene of the bubbles that result from an ocean wave
It sounds really empty and basic, so I'll probably work on putting more into it
Morning after the Party
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/7994Ys_Morning%20after%20the%20Party%20%28loop%29.mp3
Yet another simple idea that wasn't expanded on.
It's more directed towards the lines of Neon Highway as far as the whole dance/house scene, but sorta not.
There's quite a list that follow actually, but I don't think they'll quite measure up to the hype that I have in store for Neon.
Now for the clips without proper titles
Bubble Gum 6
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/0815mZ_bg6.mp3
This is a loop that I'm working on as part of a album with a friend at home :]
Once during every break, we'll get together for one day and work on some tracks, so it's too often.
The album's gonna be called Bubble Gum, and this is probably the main track for me that I make for it.
Simply put, chewing bubble gum while walking down the sidewalk of a city during a sunset. Bam
Also being used in an animanation
N.Y. Star

ps: I remembered to fix the gun B-Cube and rtil
Me liiiikeeeyyy~♪
gdf and Sheriff Bortner especially.
gdf is actually a reall cool banging song man, my only suggestion is that the voice clip: YEAH SCRATCH COME ON COME ON gets a little repetitive when the end is coming near my suggestion is you could find different voice clips and mix em up together or you can just scratch the YEAH SCRATCH COME ON voice clip at the end like
YE-YA-YE- -YEAH SCR-A-O-A-A-tch COME ON COME ON.
dream snooping nice melody, dope scratching what more can i sa
sherif bortner: i dont know about this one really, it's not as good as the other 2 tbh. i like the way you sampled it but still this one sounds decent maybe you could pump up the drums a bit more the sound so soft and it needs more heavyweight gunshot sounds just suggestion
these are all great shad i like gdf and sheriff bortner a lot. also i like morning after the party from your previous post
Glad you all like :]
As I've been making these, I've realized that some of them follow the same formula.
I've been creating a slew of tracks with a sort of swing rhythm in an attempt of a hip-hop genre of some sort.
They're sort of becoming a collection with each other somewhat, and I'm sorta smelling an "album" coming along
Wasim
If you'll notice it's the exact same vocals I did with Bubble Gum 6.
They were probably the last thing I added, and I literally just slapped them on there by means of copypaste.
You are right though, I do plan on making all of these more diverse.
Also, you really are one for record scratches arentcha ;o
Sheriff Bortner...is indeed different from the other two because it's not hip-hop
In fact, I don't quite know where I'm going with this yet, but there will be no heavyweight gunshot sounds 'cause this isn't a gangsta drive-by, it's a theme for a cowboy
I don't want too many sound effects 'cause it'll cloud up the music, which already has a lot going on as it is.
I'm still workin' on it, thanks for the feeeeeeedbaaaaaaaaaack you allllll :]
Team Duo Experiment
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/804eD_Team%20Duo%20Experiment.mp3
Sometime ago, Grinace asked me to try out an experiment with him
He would make a part, and then he'd ask me to make something in return
However, the restrictions were that we had to use the exact same instruments, so changing stuff around wasn't allowed
Grinace has the first and third parts (:00 - :13 and :27 - :40) and I have the second and fourth (:13 - :26 and :41 - :54)
It was different and fun!
CyanAura Midnight
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/721aC7_CyanAura%20Midnight.mp3
This is pretty much a remix of one of Grinace's tracks, which is displayed below
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/522nY8_midnighachi.mp3
I simply loved the strings, and my imagination ran so I just had to have it
This'll probably join along the ranks of Neon Highway, Morning after, and the rest of the night club scene of music.
ALSO update. Workin' with Jeinu and her Pico Day submission, Mushroomboy, Lenko and a few others on animations so lookout :]
the duo experiment was pretty cool . your parts had a lot more interesting things going on, but as a whole it was good
i like those remixes, its funy how i can just tell by listening to an original and the remix version and say to the remix "hey...... shadowfox made that"
I cannae believe i haven't looked in this topic in forever! This stuff is bloody amazing! Especially "Dream Snooping." Here's hoping something resembling an album surfaces soon.
Quote from: rtilthe duo experiment was pretty cool . your parts had a lot more interesting things going on, but as a whole it was good
I agree, I liked it and found it to be fun
He said there wasn't really a point to it, but he wanted to know what came to my mind when he did stuff.
I basically tried to make the most epically emotional whatever I could with whatever I had
Fun Fact: I'd made the last part to slightly resemble deadmau5 :]

Haha you haven't been here in over a year!
People are always out doin' stuff, but then you all do pay me a visit, I make sure there's always new stuff hoppin' around :]
As far as albums are concerned...here I'll make a list right now.
TBA Soundtrack - Composed entirely of myself, the soundtrack for the fighting game that was never finished. I'm probably gonna cut some people out 'cause they barely did anything
Station Zero - A collection of tracks I had made to be used in an animation by Grinace. The idea was formed around the time TBA Mugen started...still no animation on it yet
Necropolis - For YungJazz's Necropolis series of animations. Lots of jazz and hip-hop, with a dash of drum and bass :]
Bubble Gum - First album composed by me and one of my close friends from home
Drunken Master - Second album with same friend started in January from watching Jackie Chan
This is really it, but you all are pushing me to loosen up and maybe finish one up soon, maybe even during the summer
Oh oh oh! Also...
K.K. Cruisin'
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/929Hn8_K.K.%20Cruisin%27.mp3
mm!!! those are some chilled out keys, love the bass, digg the effects man. the lyrics are really dope! i really really like this song good job man i reall got nothing else to say
o btw could you send me those accapellas man? id like to fuck around with those acapellas jus want to see what i can do with it if you dont mind
Thanks wasim, but I don't have them
This track is from 2008, and the two people didn't add lyrics to it until a year later.
I had to fuse two tracks together :]
"i aint bob the builder but i better fix the door"? hahahaha
nice backing track
LMAO rtil I believe it's either "I ain't Bob the Builder but I bet I'd fix it all" or "better fix it all"
But ya I liked K.K. Cruisin' since I heard it in the game Super Smash Brothers Brawl
These two made me wanna remake it with my new found abilities, but I don't have just their lyrics so I cannot yet
They completely turned the way I looked at things, and indirectly taught me to loosen up a bit
smelt that pussy booya

Billy to this day I am still in question...
PvD sounds like a pretty busy guy from what I've just read (Too awesome for meeeee to be thought of being compared to >:C, but thanks I will aim higher :] )
Updaaaaaaatessss
I'm sorta late for the Pico Day thing, but I guess it was announced recently that Team Jeinu won the Pico Day contesttttt whoooO0O0shift1 and all around her birthday on top of that
Still not properly named, here is the beginning and ending music of the animation which can be downloaded from the flash. The ending is different here than on the flash.

In other news Mushroomboy's "Afterlife" animation was due today, and with my laptop dying out on me I had to work from scratch the entire day before.
However, passing stuff back and forth, I was able to come up with something that fit the timings of the animation pretty well. Hopefully he will post the final version >:C
Afterlife
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/723iJ_Afterlife.mp3
That's all for now, but look for some upcoming stuff I'm trying to pressure myself to get done pretty soon, including:
YungJazz's Synergy animation, vidya gaem track for Khawner, hopefully some animation from Grinace, and the biggest thing this summer, Wonder Knight Radish :]
afterlife reminds me of skies of arcadia :')
Can't believe I never browsed this topic before... great shit man...
I love those 3 new ones above for the symphonic melodies, especially the one for Afterlife.
Quote from: rtilafterlife reminds me of skies of arcadia :')
Exactly why I love it~! ♪
Aaaaaaah I forgot to respond to my thread D:
rtil and hnil you will have to tell me just what track it reminds you of, unless it's just the game itself.
Then I will feel horrible 'cause I never really played much past the first boss
Kott visiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiituh
Interesting newwwwwwwwssssss besides the fact that I think I have a job, I was asked to make a track for a Robot Day collab
The organizer of this collab basically gave me one day to remake a track I'd already done, but with sleep, a faulty laptop, and surprise lectures (yay), I had only a few hours
'Rageous 7
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/747To1_%27Rageous%207.mp3
This is a remix of a song I had submitted here
I guess it's a dominantly house track. I didn't have enough time to add all the cool robot sounds (I think CVG has commandeered the best of this type)
The 7 is because there are seven animators in this collab, and the track is split into 7 sections lasting 30 seconds each
Whoever's gettin' the last part got an extra 30 'cause I thought they were bein' gypped.
The animators have 'til July 10th. I had one day.
I already see a ton of mistakes raaaaaargh...
a day? fucking hell shad you're a machine
don't worry about any flaws at the mo, i'm sure you can work on it over time
sounds great anyways, i hope i get the 30-60 second part. i'm sure everyone else will enjoy animating to this. it's definitely got the daft punk feel which is pretty suitable seeing as we were originally gonna just make a music video for digital love
it just reminded me of SoA in general. the instruments you used and the type of song. like the new track shadow, nice and smooth
I think its fine.
Thaaaaanks you threeee
Lenko I was planning on working with everyone on their 30 sec sections to try to get the best of each person's parts.
To be honest rtil, I based a lot of my stuff of that genre from that Uninhabited Island track you gave as an example of what you were looking for.
I liked the Sailor Island track you used for Sasha's birthday thread too :]
The only track I remember from the game is the Boss Battle track though, so I'll have to give all of them a listen
Wow things are really kickin' off this summer
i honestly think most of my 30 sec segment is fine as is, we'll relay the flash back and forth like we did with hipsterween if you want and i'll give you some of the 'timings' for any big changes or whatever. but i'll mostly be basing the animation off your track

Alright news time!
Heads up for an album that has been released Friday the 11th IRL and is coming soon to the internet!
My friend and I were supposed to be giving away CDs at the convention I went to BUT that never happened lol
I had noticed that just about every FP post on this site dealin' with music had cover art of some kind
This bein' said, I've sorta delayed its online release and asked Lenko if he could work on some cover art for the album :]
Since we didn't really give it to anyone, I made some "final" touches during the past week while Lenko's been workin' hard [I'M EXCITED]
Either way, I feel bad for not having anything big to show you all yet, so I'll show youuuuuu this >:C
Skullgirls E3 promo
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/325vJ8_E3_Skullgirls.mp3
I had sent an email to the Skullgirls crew about music, and they asked if I could do music for a promo video for their site to show off some of the gameplay
It then turned out that they were trying to get a video ready for E3 so the deadline would be fairly tight and asked how soon I could start
With the album still in progress and a convention for the weekend 'til Sunday I was busy.
Little did I know [Sunday evening], E3 was that Monday!
This bein' said I had spent all night 'til like 5am Monday morning workin' on it
Haven't heard anything from 'em yet nor have I seen anything on E3 about it
I'll probably make a longer better version of it later on
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssss~<3 <3 <3
<3
sweet
oh boy I can't wait!
Great song!!
Welp I'm gettin' to work on stuff this week finally so I can knock stuff outta the way and make room for others in the meantime
While I was editing a song for a wedding, I stumbled upon two clips from it that instantly gave me an idea.
When I got done, I got to work on this
After 5 minutes, here is the result [never leave me with a song to sample]
Glimmer Galaxy Girls
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/367Gg2_Glimmer%20Galaxy%20Girls.mp3

^This is a lotta great
damn that's groovy
i could totally hear that on the song selection in ddr

Also listening to Glimmer Galaxy Girls whilst watching Shidas sig is an interesting combination.
I did the same thing Ash :]
Soooooon
i must say i am a big fan of sampling in your songs
Quote from: AshingtonAlso listening to Glimmer Galaxy Girls whilst watching Shidas sig is an interesting combination.
My god, I have been enlightened.
Time to kick off July with some new loops and WIPs
I was told the album would be released sometime this weekend, maybe today will be the day B]
Also, news on the whole Skullgirls E3 thing, it didn't happen 'cause the video guy had too much stuff to do and a small window of time
HOWEVER, it should be there during AX and SDCC so be on the lookout
Cybertronic Excursion
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/2624Hk_Cybertronic%20Excursion%20%28Robot%20Day%29.mp3
This is a work in progress for my individual entry for Robot Day
Trying to make a comeback as a remix of the entry from the Robots contest held here eons ago
It's slower than its brother but the tempo is more suitable for extra robo-techna-tronic goodness
Hopefully by the end of this, there will turn out as a super sliced version with 200% more bass and techno funk
Auric Waves
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/827qC5_Auric%20Waves.mp3
This one has aged a bit in my inventory of ideas in the musical junkyard
I was at a constant battle with this one 'cause I wanted to put some bumpin' energy to it, but keep it light and easy at the same time
Lately I've gotten some ideas for it so hopefully it will progress later on as a decent liquid dnb track
Cujo (Proceed the Coast)
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/782p1H_Cujo%20%28Proceed%20the%20Coast%29.mp3
I got a ton of ideas for how I can spruce up the main tune, but nothing on any variety of melodies just yet.
Sure, I can throw in a bunch of chords n whatnot just to say "hey it's not the same thing all the way through", but it won't fit my vision, which I have for every track I make
For this oneeeee, it's a walk down the boardwalk at the beach, proceeding the coast line B]
I'll definitely work out the repetitiveness though, that's one of my big factors I'm trying to really improve on this summer!
Feedback is always appreciated so don't be shy 'cause I'm trying to do betta and I wanna know what you all want to hear 8D
fuck gay
sheeeeit! Cybertronic is my new fav and Cujo is pretty cool as well. Although i have to say i agree Auric Waves could use a little more thump to it. Keep it up!

Twin of the faster paced Cybernetic Expedition, this will be my lead independant trailblazer entry for Robot Day
I think I'm gonna have Steam Machine be the runner up entry, so that'll be 4 chances to win the music contest
I always find it funny how I can manage to complete a bunch of music in a short amount of time because of how close the deadline is
I wish there was a way [discipline and determination maybe??] that I could do this regularly miles from the due date
Also I'm gonna try to text wall less often
I. LOVE. YOUR STUFF. AS UUUUUSSUUUAAAALALALDJGHKSGM~~<3<3<3<3
I don't know why you keep asking me where the party is because its in your music, silly!
The Robot stuff is awesooome!
Well this has truly been a great way to end a Saturday
Over the course of this week I have managed to land a job, finish a collab AND have an album released!!
It was great workin' with Lenko again in both the album and the collab
I'll be working on requests and everything that I didn't get to do while I was busy with all of such as the upcoming week progresses
GO LISTEN >:C
I was amazin'. Absolutely amazin'. <3
I left a review, but really, it was the sound that pulled everything together!
Aside from the financial victory that was Robot Day, more WIPs to keep up productivity

Later on he revealed that he was just using me to get more publicity and up his own popularity
I wasn't really motivated enough to really work on this 'til recently when he decided to have deadlines for demos

This was done in about an hour or so for a new platformer with Mushroomboy's character from Afterlife as the star
I'll definitely be working more on this one and others as the game progresses like always
Either way, I'm really lookin' forward to it!
Coming soon, a finished version of Khawner's requessssssst *chip*
ive noticed that in a lot if not all of your tracks you have nothing driving or carrying the instruments. if there is something doing that its usually the bass or drums. it could possibly be a stylistic preference but maybe you should try experimenting with songs that are more forceful per se.
Your comments has been taken into consideration
Although I'm still not 100% sure I know just what you mean, I do need to experiment more because I'm sorta getting bored with what I've been doing
The way I make things now is more like a boring repetitive process of putting the main idea down and leaving it for later, which is why it doesn't get done and doesn't end up getting posted 'til I break out of that
ANYWAYS, more stuff
First off, Khawner's game

This is a remix of Dante224's going to be the next to final version that I do for this thing
I've decided that this is going to be a classical drum and bass collision
I'm sort of excited because I actually know what direction I want to go for this, and thanks to Khawner it rhymes with Okaymon
Originally I didn't want to because it would sound like something else I did but I realized I could make it better
Will do better with guitar solo haha

As of now it seems like a combination between Joey Bang's music and another track that I did who's synth melody I will return
Definitely will expand more on this one
Okay, so I'm starting to look at and finish stuff I started from 2007-2008, and aside from the TBA Fighter, I was also working on this stuff
Hoovergrind Racing
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/1665rH_Hoovergrind%20Racing%20%28demo%29.mp3
I put this demo together using the simple array of stuff I started this with years ago, adding some cymbals for better sense of flow
Now I'm definitely going to hype up the bass a little because I'm going to get into a serious DnB track that's going to sound like that of Pendulum
I've been doing a lot of liquid drum and bass but not the raw, in-your-face drum and bass that you hear in everyone's YouTube videos on explaining video games
Arctic Toys
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/6650Va_Arctic%20Toys%20%28demo%29.mp3

Toys for the Boys is the name of the original
A house concert is being held on a giant iceberg the end (party after the Titanic)
Will definitely reduce the amount of reeverb and change volumes and yada yada yada

This one's an oldie as well, but it's for one of the stories that I've been thinking of that centers around a duo of officers
Basically all I've done for the last three were stretch them out to a satisfied length, but I have animations, games, and "albums" that I have to do before then
I'm gonna try to set a due date for Station Zero around Christmas :]
that revolt remix is sweet
Quote from: SHADOWFOX2Welp I'm gettin' to work on stuff this week finally so I can knock stuff outta the way and make room for others in the meantime
While I was editing a song for a wedding, I stumbled upon two clips from it that instantly gave me an idea.
When I got done, I got to work on this
After 5 minutes, here is the result [never leave me with a song to sample]
Glimmer Galaxy Girls

Speedin Wheels
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/552Gc4_Speedin%20Wheels.mp3
Time to revive my thread to show some of my September productivity
First off, a ton of things are still in the air as far as games and animations
With that said, I'm making room for what is definite and semi-definite besides personal stuff
Today I am focusing on a game that is being developed that is led by Khawner called Save State Supermental
I think I'm the head of the music department, so I'm working with Khawner and a few others to make the soundtrack n stuff
I believe I've gotten a good early start SO I can share some WIPs before the final versions!
Dilly's theme
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/732eQ_Dilly%27s%20theme%20%28demo%29.mp3
Theme for a character in the game that just so happens to be named after our Princess of Uguu but I am told there is NO RELATION
Still a bit too generic for my liking and I didn't expand on this one too much because the original was only 15 seconds long plus I was without a direction
Having said this, the final version will be much better I promise dilly D:
I'm probably gonna end up making multiple versions of things anyways to fit everything if the game goes as planned
End Credits
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/547Up4_End%20Credits%20%28demo%29.mp3
Originally the credits for the end of the game, the tune has deviated to another purpose since the rendering of this
I plan on going full out with this one as the months pass so it won't be the same ol' tune for TWO MINUTES
Being as bored as I was one night, I took it and simply had my way with it for about 20 or so minutes and then left it
Smack's theme -Chiptune Warrior-
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/73Nj4_Smack%27s%20theme%20%28demo%29.mp3
WHOO
This is one of those tracks that I spent about a half a day on and off making during a Skype convo
The theme for a character I have not yet seen, I decided that I would see how well I fared making what I could based on how I saw the character
There are still some things I was thinking about adding, so I'll do all that mastering and whatnot later, but I'm satisfied with what I have now
PS: I love crowds and reeverb
That's it for productivity on that game so far (on my end anyways)
In other news...this weekend I am going to try to squeeze out just one more thing I was asked to do that is to be done by Monday.
After that: OCTOBER
In the Dark - CVG
Currently in progress. I've gotten a few ideas down so after Monday I'll begin to sync it to the animation!
RollerGhoster - Lenko
Awesome stuff Shadow, I don't know how you make such stuff with FL.

I would have to say that Smack's theme is my favorite as well and probably sounds the best because I put the most time into it
I will expand on the others then so you all will like them more too

Shida I had made that with my tender loving care for your ears only and nobody else's
However I was definitely planning on working on it more and posting it later on down the line once it was finished
I've gotten in a bit of a groove lately so I'll probably work more on this and some other stuff around November

Here I am at the beginning of the second month of the year (2011 WHOOOOOOOOoooo)
I know it's been a long time since I last posted anything so I feel like I owe you guys
As usual my New Year's resolution is always to do better in everything that I do, and in music's case, that means keeping it up and making more stuff.
HOWEVER, two things that stuck in my head were to up my technique and to "try new things".
Over the past few years, I've come to realize a lot about myself and how I make music, and it's been a bit disappointing
I don't mind listening to repetitive loops for elongated durations, but others might, and that needs to change
Usually I'll use a few easily accessible instruments to quickly jot down an idea before I forget it
The ones you do hear are ones that I thought were good or I repeated them long enough so I'd find it at a presentable length
This results in a lot of my stuff using the same instruments and therefore sounding the same and being less impressive
To remedy this, effort will be the method of 2011
Fresh batch of stuff starting with the results from the first livestream

Aurora Stream
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/743sL1_Aurora%20Stream.mp3
Birthed from livestream, Aurora's one of the first that I'm gonna work on over time when I get the time to do so
I started with the bass, and built off of that
I feel like the sine bass gives off a feeling of warmth that I like, but I can also see it in an icy atmosphere
Crystal Moonlight
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/574q5Y_Crystal%20Moonlight.mp3
This was constructed from an incomplete memory of a song from a livestream that I don't think I'll ever come across.
It feels a little colder too me than its sibling above, and I meant for it to be that way, but it makes it sound more like it's missing something...
...maybe 'cause it's not done.
I'm considering giving this one a work over with a sine bass taking command...
If you were actually patient enough with me to sit through that torment of my amateur self and my lag, you saw that I had a mixing program up and was doing things with that as well.
Shots on the Yacht
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/4324Wo_Shots%20on%20the%20Yacht%20%28demo%29.mp3
There were a few tracks at the end of the streaming that I'll post in the next update
In other news, I'd been given the opportunity to provide a one track soundtrack to a German browser game.
It's been out since late December but I was told there'd be an English version of it too so I wanted to wait 'til then/now!
...after some talking with the guy who put me on the team, I found out that there are a few things that need to happen in order for it to be released.
You all are special, so I'm showing you anyways

This is to this day, the longest thing I have ever done
One look at the game told me it was gonna be one of those adventure type games, but since it was a
Standing tall at 4 seconds short of 13 minutes, it's composed of around 9 "movements" linked together and strengthened with melodies and schtuf
It was a bit stressful working on this around Christmas time 'cause it was one of the busiest ones I've had in a while!
I love the symphonic music in vidya gaems and how it can be mixed with other styles, so I think this was a great time-consuming experience at the digital roots figuring out what to use
If anything, I would change the ending so that the french horn loops better with the beginning, but bleh I'll do better in the next thing I do.
Tell me what you guys think!
imma peep these joints soon
Definitely a good start off for the year, these sound great.
Tora no Tsubasa is amazing.
Chaos Frontier
It's basically a vertical shooter set in the future
You're in space, you shoot rocks and eventually other enemy ships
You get a boss every now and then too
I was asked to make a soundtrack for a game so I spent this sleepless weekend to do so
It turns out I have more schoolwork to do than I thought I did so I ended up rushing through a lot of it, which I hate doing but that seems to be the theme for this semester.
I feel better now that I'm done with it, but it's something I'd prefer to have spent more time ooooon.
I'll probably get around to naming and shaping things up in the future 'cause I like these BUT I've gotta keep moving for now

damn man im lovin those mashups
Livestream 1
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/2705iM_Livestream%201.mp3
the bass is floating around but i kinda like that and thats basicly the only thing i can say about this beat cuz its short like coleman, got nothing to critise about it, and im just basicly feeling this one, for a short beat its got variety and it makes me wanna ask for more
Livestream 2
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/574pB8_Livestream%202.mp3
kick is nasty but the snare/clap is a bit low, not sure if you used a reverb on it but if you did maybe you need to pump up the volume a bit on the snare/clap, although i didnt heard this at first but after a second listen i noticed the keys in the background (well not really in the background and im not even sure if those are keys or piano hits or whatever) only thing i didnt like was the vocals, honestly it should've been removed right now the way you put it down mixed it up to the beat sounds forced and it doesnt flow well altho i gotta admit i like the way you tweeked the "punch" vocal tho
Crystal Moonlight
http://www.thebackalleys.com/dump/files/525/574q5Y_Crystal%20Moonlight.mp3
doesnt bring me into that crystal/icy moonlight vibe, i'm not feeling the drums at all, the dirty bass doesn't really fit well into the whole sound you were aiming for, you got too many piano hits on this one my dude, normally i like those hits the pianos but this one, im not diggin, its just me but i think it would've been better if you let loose on those hits, maybe once 2-4 bars or something but anyways i like the main melody (the synth on) its simple and effective, the whole beat however is a lil catchy due to the main synth but thats the only thing that realy feels right to it in generel the beat is kind of a hit and miss (no pun intended)

I'm not sure what I was thinking but it was a sleepless morning and I didn't really give much of a
As far as the third one, stuff's gonna change immensely. This was an extreme experiment but I like the overall layout if you will.
But I agree, it is a stretched out dry thought of a loop and I am going to fix that when I get around to it
LMAO signature scratches. Actually no I'm trying to get away from those.
Everything I do is starting to sound the same so I've been trying to break away from that and give everyone something new
Thanks a bunch for your thoughts dude
you should make a full track out of the 2nd one , sounds like a track that could be on the panty and stocking season 2 OST
sure thing man
Why does it seem like everyone's doing mashups all of a sudden

@your mashups
lmao dude too much jay electronica if you ask me.... way 2 much but its al good, you need to seriously work more on the common mash up song, funky joint right there i also like the 1st and 3rd short tune. i think that the fast paced jay electronica mash up (the 2nd one) is a lil off IMO but then again the original was a lil slower and u probbly just wanted to do the flipside. ii think out of them all i like the common track the mostt, pz

As far as DnB Electronica, it's cause he gets a little lax with the vocals.
What's a 4.5 BPM change for Jay really?

shadowfox, u ever (seriously) considered into buying a akai/mpc for making beats

WASIM.
I actually have an old MPC that my dad handed down to my many a year ago
When I move into my apartment after I graduate, that thing's comin' with
The one you posted is really modern/expensive looking but I can tell it can make great stuff
I've watched some videos of people using them, the latest being Madeon mixing pretty much 40 songs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTx3G6h2xyA
I felt like quitting music then and there, but it's one of those constant reminders that I can't just sit there and do nothing because there are always folks like Madeon and Pogo out there being better than me
As far as news goes I've pretty much been on standby for all current projects, waiting for people to do their part so I can do mine, which is probably good 'cause I can focus on school and work
I've made more mashups that I will post soon along with maybe some original stuff
imo madeon isn't that great, all of his popular stuff is sample overkill. some of the songs he samples have samples in them as well. he's the inception of sampling. it's annoying
i dont get that machine with those green and yellow lights? i mean is that what people consider instruments these days? to me it just looks like he's pushing random buttons to a track already mixed down to make it look like he's performing it.

im pretty sure that is an mpc aswell but i might be wrong cuz it could some of that super new tools where u dont even have to do anything to make something cool, if it is an mpc then its a weird lookin one
Quote from: SHADOWFOX2Oh whoops I didn't think anyone even looked at these
No matter, I have more things coming up soon
WASIM.
I actually have an old MPC that my dad handed down to my many a year ago
When I move into my apartment after I graduate, that thing's comin' with
The one you posted is really modern/expensive looking but I can tell it can make great stuff
I've watched some videos of people using them, the latest being Madeon mixing pretty much 40 songs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTx3G6h2xyA

do you still make stuff with the mpc (i got a feeling its a small 1000 for some reason)
and honestly i dont know why you would feel like quiting or feel like you suck at it because there other dudes out there that are better than you, i personally feel inspired by that cause it makes me wanna go get better with it and just stay up to par or whatever but at the same time i do understand that ur thinking that you need to come a long way before u can get at the level of an artist u admire
I don't have too much of him on my laptops but who hasn't had some sonic, mario or final fantasy at one point these days
Why start with original work when you can incept your way into popularity I guess
Blordow I would indeed consider that an instrument if an mpc or keyboard is considered one.
Basically each button represents a sample that can be modified as needed by the user like a more convenient way of sampling
I think the video's off by a few but it could very well be him button mash synching
I think it's real 'cause I think it's would be awesome to do as well as possible
I don't think he has a reason to lie about it but either way, mixing 40 tracks well still takes some skill imo
wasim I never really did make much with the mpc at all
Basically what I did is listen to an already made loop, and add and take stuff away from it, then quit 'cause I didn't know what I was doing lol
I know it's a really powerful tool when used correctly but my interests and that giant manual for it were not encouraging further use
Also I was just kidding about quitting, but it does clear the table on stuff I did that I thought was good
Everything else you said pretty much applies to me accurately
while I was out

Are you open to trying out suggestions? Like, not making full-blown songs, but making more short things like the ones you just did, sampling stuff like:

...and something from Renard--idontknowwhathisdefaultnameisanymore
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdo9FK5fR7o (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdo9FK5fR7o)
okay im done throwing stuff at j00 because i like your music
Really awesome stuff!
Yes Hnil, the betta fish, and those are indeed Scott Pilgrim samples
I'm always open to suggestions, but Homestuck stuff is the type that I'm gonna have to actually make work from scratch 'cause a lot of it doesn't work well with others by itself.
I'll probably wait for all the hype to die down from it before I even think about using it to be honest
Unlike all of Renard's stuff which works naturally with many different things
Aside from the last one, I was really trying to keep myself alive while waiting for folks to make some progress on their projects so I could have something to show for the summer besides a bunch of bad grades but it doesn't look like anything's happening
If you've ever visited one of my livestreams, every once in a while I'll open up some program and start mixing songs
This is because I may end up doing gigs at clubs in the future if I get the right equipment and become skilled at it so having a few 10-30 minute mixes of songs are definitely a good idea [not completely a product of my boredom]
I'm tired of sitting on my bum keeping time available waiting for people to actually do things so I'm going to start working on things that I can as soon as the last of academics are out of the way soon

It looks a bit messy but I guess it'll do for now
I think I have been slacking a bit in the music department as a result of loss of motivation
I've been asked to work on two different albums and I'm going to attempt to be in livestreams more often
I want to try to work on all the incomplete thoughts that I pretty much stopped on as soon as I got to a checkpoint and have let snowball since 2008
I found myself skimming through the same things for the past few years, saying I'm gonna do something about it, but not, so I'm gonna really try to fix it this time
In the meantime here is me messing around above
the first 2 are definatly choppy and a bit messy but that whole style fits well in the 1st track, 2nd one not so much
first song is on some large professor/pete rock type of shit,. simple sample chopping and a nice drum break. what more do you need
2nd track i dont consider dope/nice/swell but not that bad either, i know what type of direction you were heading with it. i like some of the horn samples you sliced. but other than that i cantgive you much feedback
also i understand your problem where you are planning to make something but then end up not doing it, i think the problem is that its best to make that track or that something today or right at that moment. fuck tomorrow, cuz tomorrow would mean never. the more you delay your shit to tomorrow, then the next tomorrow would mean next week, then that would mean next month and etc. what you gotta do is just go make those things that people asked you to do right now or later today
The first two should be choppy because those were done in real time
I'm positive it would sound better if I had taken it into FL Studio but I really was just messing around
I really did just slap a generic repetitive beat and freestyled on a sample
Most of the personal stuff I stopped working on was because I had put them aside in favor of working with other people
Since 2008, only about 10% of that stuff has actually seen the light of day lol

I didn't make that lol
I posted it in The Weed Thread months ago
It was made by Brad "Ohbliv" Oblivion
It's more of an inside joke for anyone who knows who Jim is and what he used to do lol
Either way it wouldn't be much of a collab
DILLY when are we gonna do somethin

This year there will be lots of productivity n stuff and I'm pushing through both what I want and what I need to do as well as what people have asked
Since my laptop is quickly turning to mush, I can't just push two songs together like I used to
Everything must be manually stretched, cut, sliced, and timed in FL Studio, which cannot handle 15 minutes of funk
I can stick more songs in at a time that way but mang I can't take the lazy way out anymore
Game music soon 'cause yeah
I used 6 different tracks in Voyager. Guess 'em all and I'll do something special for said person (I tried really hard not to mix it with any other Daft Punk songs)
i said it once and i'll say it again
voyager track is awesome B)
i can guess all but one of the tracks in voyager, so i won't try to list them all to give anyone a leg up on me B|

I've still got to clean them up a bit but right now I do not care so nyeh
Voyager 2's 7 tracks instead of 6
Well into March now, the tracks for Voyager are as follows
Voyager - Daft Punk
Ode to Bouncer - Studio Killers
Pool Party 2009 - Shazam
Fancy Footwork - Chromeo
Yeah - Usher ft. Luda n YEAH guy
Funkadelic - (Not Just) Knee Deep
More new stuff in the works but for now a sneak peek into what I will be working on later on in the year

that chiptuney synth on 202 is awesome. the other two are also great, for some reason i really like that whistley thing keeping the chorus in the background of 20
Yeah I found out that's a good sounding simple way to start tracks for this game, and then flesh out into more direction and detail.
Those kinds of games need basslines and toms, something I neglected to do until then

It is mixed with Brawl's Fire Field.
Also you've already told, Sapphire, I could care less if you tell again (I mean "o")

Your mind must be awesome.
you should try and spread your music to blogs that are aggregated by hype machine. one of my friends does that and randomly one day one of his tracks hit the top 50. you never know, it's good exposure. and hypem users like this kind of stuff, too.
you actually managed to make t-pain sound good

Welp, nothing like typing up responses and accidentally closing out of your tab.
Okay, it's been too long, yes it has.
rtil you are right, I should start branching out, and I have been meaning to since February but I am lazy and job searching so it's been kinda slow
No hypem or hype machine yet, but I've finally migrated from NG to posting things on Youtube, and I will also expand to Soundcloud and Tumblr, and maybe even make a Facebook page
I'll start posting wips like old times, eventually, just for general productivity
Not to say I haven't been productive, because I have. My latest album is more of a soundtrack and can be found here http://mar-bleteam.bandcamp.com/ (http://mar-bleteam.bandcamp.com/)
I've been working on other commissions too, some of which I cannot show, but that is no excuse for me neglecting this thread
Gomenasai
Speaking of, I am open to commissions and the like to anyone who's got some extra cash they'd rather throw at me for some rad tunes of their liking
No set prices or anything quite yet so everything's negotiable

this track is cool, what software/plugins/samples do you use?
i really like your more hip-hoppy stuff, i think it comes out better than your more dancy stuff, although that might also just be my personal preference. i noticed you really like to chop stuff up into triplets briefly in your house tracks. your videogame stuff sounds great too.
Baltered East is simply Altered Beast.
It's the game over music that didn't fit with the game at all, but it was there and it was catchy.

I really really really liked that. As much as I like your recent hip-hop/broken beat stuff, I think you have just as much of an ear for this kind of thing (which sounds more like the stuff I first hear from you(?), if I remember correctly).
I know this reminds me of some game but it isn't coming to me. Regardless, I'd love to see you compose for a shmup. That would be a dream.
I've always wanted to make an OST for a space shooter thingy, but the closest thing I ever got to it so far was for an extremely difficult shooting thing on NG

I wanted to release an official collection of it where I finished every wip of it I started but uh no...
I've actually been trying to get someone I'm currently working with to pick up a 2.5D space shooter idea of his that I thought would be amazing for what I do, but it's not looking like it's not gonna happen anytime soon...
