Title: making a cartoon
Post by: mishkamash on February 21, 2009 02:58 PM
i know most of you know by now that whenever i make a decent sketch, i almost never color it
it's because i'm planning and working on a cartoon with mishka and tick
i have some "storyboards" made at the moment, which i'll post some up later and tell you more about it today
basically what i wanna do is make an introduction of them; where they live, who they are, their personality, etc.

ok so in this storyboard tick is having a dream about being hunted down by these soldiers, but it's obviously not official
im working on a few completely different stories and picking a best one, but im only showing you a bit of this one for now
and yeah its kinda crappy but ffffffff

i think the black outline is a little harsh. try something more natural, like a dark sandy brown for the trunks and a darker green for the leaves.

so should i get rid of the outline and replace it with something like a darker shading of its color?
or should i just trim the outline enough so it doesn't look so harsh

anyways hows the coloring on this

i agree with rtil, keep darkening the colors and lowering the contrast between the trunks, grass, and trees. the image is too harsh and saturated right now. some shading of some sort would really help

you don't have to get rid of the outlines, but you should use them to your advantage instead of treating them as an obligation.
