i just got out of seeing this

this is the first movie i've seen where you see a fat naked old lady with giant boobs doing a stage show
the whole audience was like   and then like   and then like  

I watched it in 3-D
It was REALLY good

let us hope it makes enough moneys for Laika to hire back all the animators they had to lay off about a month ago so they can make more films

The theater I went to was full
So I really do hope it makes money

i have to see this soon

i unfortunately did not get to see it last night because the friends i was meeting there got there too late and saved crappy front-row-far-end seats. so i got my money back and i will go another day. but that is good news here, too - the theater was packed. and it was the last showing of the night - 9:20. mostly adults, i was surprised. but that shows not everyone thinks this is "just" a kids film

its too creepy to be just a kids film

It's the -director- of Nightmare Before Christmas, Burton was the producer. Still waiting to check this out but I've been wanting to for a while.

i liked the original willy wonka that came out in the 70's. it's what i grew up with. as for sweeny todd, im just not a fan of musicals. especially film adaptations of them.

I really enjoyed the movie, it seems like you guys didn't knew about the shoe thing.

Tim Burton makes/produces some great films every now and then. I've gotta watch Big Fish again. I agree that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was horrible. It was...really weird. Like, "WTF is this shit" horrible. Was it just me or did Mr. Wonka seem like a Michael Jackson-like pedophile? I'll admit that I haven't read the book (I've seen the original movie), so I don't know if it completely followed along with the book (unlike the Harry Potter films UGH).

Anyway, Coraline is the shit. Seeing it in 3-D made it even better (until the "camera" starting spinning around occasionally). I wouldn't recommend it for little kids since it has some scary moments (like the bad guy's appearance...holy cow). I have not read the book that this movie was based on as well, but I plan to when I get done with 'A' school. I loved the character designs and scenery, but the animation seemed to lag several times (it's CLAYmation, I KNOW). I also enjoyed the music, so get the soundtrack as soon as you can...I wish I could have my iPod and laptop with internet service now.  I've gotta wait until my school will let us have electronics.  All in all, go see this movie & find a theater playing it in 3-D. You will NOT regret it! Seeing this after being "trapped in a cave" for 2 months was a very special treat.

wow this movie was fantastic

and i absolutely have to see it again for two reasons:

1. half the movie was amazing
2. i forget the other half of the movie because i had the displeasure of sitting next to the two most annoying people ever in a theater. it was a very loud and obnoxious college-age couple. they snuck in two glasses, a bottle of wine and beer, constnatly clanking glasses and burping, munching on popcorn with their mouths open and knocking over glasses. every other scene the guy would say "WOW LOOK AT THAT" and then explain out loud everything he thought was cool. he also laughed at just about everything (including things that weren't even supposed to be funny) and when his girlfriend would talk he would shush her . it was REALLY hard to enjoy the movie because of this guy. i would have said something, but i had to sit next to him for the rest of the film and it probably would have made everything worse.

so i got a free ticket and i'll see it again next weekened or something. i'd have wanted to see it again anyway, the animation was incredible. i can't imagine how long all that animation took, especially during scenes where the dozens of mice are dancing in the circus. and the part with the 'other mother' banging on the door as coraline was running away was brilliant from a horror standpoint. but whoever says "this movie isn't for kids" is an idiot. half the things that "scare" adults children probably wouldn't give a second thought to

i ran four and a half miles in the cold to the theater to see this and i can say that it was well worth it. virtually no one was there except this little kid in the back row who began hyperventilating and freaking out at the scariest parts, but that added to the experience.

i just got back from watching it. actually im lying just got back from getting my haircut but before that i saw it. it was pretty swell. i watched it in 3d and some parts almost made me shit my pants. i was like "lolwtf birds." i think its safe to say that nobody is going to be able to parody this.

I liked the part where the garden disappeared, it sort of reminded me of tron for some reason

the only real problem that I had was that, especially near the beginning, they didn't interpolate some of the frames or whatever so the animation was sort of choppy although most people probably wouldn't notice it so uhh

Finally saw it.

Apparantly the Stop-Motion students at my school aren't too fond of it, but I haven't the slightest clue as to why. I don't know how half of the shit that went on in this movie could've possibly been done in stop-motion, so visually it was incredibly impressive. Story was pretty decent, a little repetetive in the beginning, turned into a video game for like 15 minutes near the end, but overall was nicely balanced by the characters. Wasn't bothered by any of them, not even the parents. The cat and the Amazing Bobinski were the ones that stuck out to me.

My one grip was that the voice directing was a little off at points. I caught more than a few times where the lines sounded like they weren't conversational english. One offhand I can remember was Coraline telling Wybie "YOU'RE just like them". It came up the most with Coraline's dialogue, but otherwise it wasn't really a big deal. The cast was pretty well selected and turned out nicely, fuck yeah Keith David.

Actually Other-Wybie I was disappointed about because it seemed like they just up and forgot about him. Right before she goes to get the final kid's eyes, they just sorta "wrap up" his entire story like it was an afterthought. Nobody complained, so I guess it didn't affect anything in the grand scheme of things, but that was a little disappointing. At least with the rest of the Other-characters they were given one last measly thing to do beforehand.

not zelda-like, but incredibly like a video game

the rest of the movie was great but the eye part seemed ridiculously "okay let's just throw this in here as a plot device"/"okay let's cut things from here"/etc.

i haven't read the book, but stuff like adding the character wybie and the finding the ghost children's eyes are cinematic devices to make the film more interesting, and i thought they worked really well. and on another note, the voice acting was excellent.

and i think comparing any bit of this film to a video game is totally stupid. video games haven't been around as long as films, much less books, and animation certainly has nothing to borrow or gain from them.

I was wondering about that too. I recognized his voice as soon as I heard it in the movie, but the voice sounds different for the rest of it... doesn't seem like he'd be the actor, but I forgot to check the voice credits both times I saw it so I don't really know

Apparantly They Might Be Giants came up with that song. They were supposed to do more music for the movie but I guess the studio opted to go with the chorus instead.
