here is the depressing thread. made specifically for those of you who somehow despite hanging online still have faith in mankind.









Way back a long time ago there was a member on Newgrounds named T0MMY. He organized some of the first collaborations ever, and alot of the people he worked with went on to become popular artists in their own right. He was also one of the main people behind the Pic0nj0 character that both me and rtil had a short run fraternizing in.

Anyway, in 2004 he made a thread about how he was disappointed how Newgrounds was run and how he felt the artists should be compensated for their work since it was the artists who made cartoons and games who brought people to newgrounds in the first place.

Everyone very quickly jumped all over his post, flaming him, and the topic became a SEVEN PAGE LONG BITCHFEST. (http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/202754)

I try not to link too many people to the thread. I grow worried someone may delete it one day.

Feel free to read it. The thread and alot of the comments made in it are still very relevant today.
In fact, its hard to believe this thread is 5 years old. It shows how little anything has changed.

What I like about this thread is how T0MMY conducts himself. Despite everyone insinuating he's some sort of greedy jackal for suggesting this idea, he never gets upset. This thread also shows alot of members of newgrounds, many of whom are still around, displaying themselves in a rather shameful manner.

And like most large-scale kneejerk flame and drama bbs threads, Tom Fulp is the voice of reason and the only person not acting like an asshole in the thread. He must have the patience of a tree.

thats like saying that everyone who wants to be able to profit off animation so they can do it full time only want to because they hate animation.

the only real reason everyone uses it is because its easy to use (if you have one of the newer versions of flash anyway).

As for the thread you can go to "file>save page as"  and view it anytime you want.  I think theres an extra step to have all the gifs and shit saved so it comes out lookinmg the same, but I don't quite remember it.

Its funny how I find myself against the motivation of flash ads, yet not concretely against the concept itself.  If someone makes flashes for the money, then there's no wondering whether or not he's a dick, or will end up hating his own work in time.

T0MMY might be floating around somewheres.  He obviously lost all faith in the community, as with his great comment "Enjoy muffins. Be like Knox because hes better than me.", but leaving the internet out of dissatisfaction is no heroic thing.  Anyways its quite easy to turn off your router for a little while, get a brand new IP, and start a life as a new person.

I was watching that fraggle rock episode today, then the power went out....

i agree. i think that's just the kind of person he is, although you also have to take into account that he's pretty much set for life now, so everything negative would have a natural tendency to bounce off of him. i mean he really has no reason for a bunch of greasy teenagers yapping and whining on the bbs to affect him because they can't touch him.

It would be safe to say that out of the many people on the internet we're supposed to "respect", Tom is one of the few people who actually deserves it without a shadow of doubt.

What you do NOT know here, is that T0mmy was a scammer allways was.,  I held my tongue here, but since he disappeared who cares now.

Firstly,  T0mmy Had no intentions on helping anyone.  I was told by a few artist that he was compiling a Piconjo DVD and he had no intention and sharing the profits with anyone.
I confronted him about it. ADMITTED it, claiming he was very poor and he had to do it. So I proceeded to harass  him about it, make a post unless he had plans to share it. He never went through with it.  The ad rev share was in the works as far back as then. But it was to easily broken and we needed a real programmer to make it work right. I told him this on the downlow, and he wasn't satisfied he wanted it now. The dudes a hustler and a thief. I won't even go into how he was screwing some 15 year old in his late 20s or how he stole a table at applecon many years back to sell his stuff.
Also I actually remember waiting for this post.  He Told another person ahead of time he was gonna make a stink. He was in the middle of trying to compile this DVD and wanted to have some attention around him when he did so, but it didn't really work.

KNOW all sides of a story people. Not just what Zekey decides to post when hes bored.

If you want a real drama  you should know the story behind the creator of armorgames, or worst yet Mofunzone.  These People actually made a living stealing games and art from people, and only now that they have enough money to look reputable do they turn a "new" leaf.

I barely read any of that but seriously it was in 2004 there is no need to worry about any of that shit now.

Agreed. Career choices should be based on your own intrests, not the payout. I preffer to actually like what I do for the rest of my life. If career choices were made based on desirable incomes, everyone would be doctors, and 3/4 of those people wouldnt have the stomach to keep that job (with the blood, and the guts, and the MANY ORGANS).
