yeah, the music is incredibly obnoxious. there's dozens of tracks i could probably take out of my library that would fit better and could be chopped up to match to the animation
but as far as the cartoon goes, it has a really great look to it. i think it's pretty easy to tell that he painted over 3d animation renders. if he didn't, he's probably the most able and consistent 2d animator on earth

Music was alright but not amazing, THIS was beautiful though. If this is anything like what Rapunzel is gonna be, whatever century it gets finished, I'm sold. If you're right, then it's definitely a -good- use of 3D modeling if anything else.

oh yeah i remember seeing this a while back

thought it was pretty cool

it looks really nice but sometimes i wonder if the animator would step back and say "is this really worth all this effort"

because that is a lot of effort, regardless if he painted over 3-D animation renders

QuoteWhat if you watch a film and whenever you pause it, you face a painting? This idea inspired Reza Dolatabadi to make Khoda. Over 6000 paintings were painstakingly produced during two years to create a five minutes film that would meet high personal standards.

are you sure it's 3D renders? the site says he used paintings, which makes me thing of actual painting on canvas. but...that can't be true =/

they're definitely digital paintings and i think he painted over 3d renders. nothing bad about that, that's just what i think he did

In my experience, "Paintings" means anything NOT computer rendered, so anything in photoshop done with the brush tool can be called a painting.

And yeah, those look like digital paintings. My mind would be blown if that was actually a new non photo realistic rendering method, though

that's not what i meant

what i think he did is modeling and animation in 3d, rendered out still frames, and painted over them in photoshop

any other way seems technically impossible for a single person to do , even in 2 years

A teacher at a school near mine is looking into such methods for his next film.

But to finish his last film (just finished, actually), it took maybe 4+ years and about 70 people to finish it (and that was with proven/industry rendering techniques!)
