QuoteDescription
A Chiropteran is a grotesque, undead monster with the ability to disguise itself as a human. It lives by feeding on peoples' blood. There is a secret organization called the Red Shield that exists to hunt down the Chiropterans.
In the year 2005, Okinawan high school girl, Otonashi Saya, lives her life peacefully. She is normal in all respects, with the exception that she lost all her memories a year ago. However, her perfect life is about to change dramatically.
She meets Hagi, a man in a black suit playing a cello, who gives her a katana. At that moment, history turns a new page.
What secrets does her past hold? Will Saya remember?
This anime series is the follow up to the short anime movie
"Blood The Last Vampire" released by production IG a few years ago. Of course you won't have to have watched that to enjoy the series, but I recommend it.
It will be replacing Trinity Blood in the night line up next to Bleach.
Set your recorders! I know I will be
Anime!? I've lost my love for anime a long time ago. Its all boring now.
Says someone who probably watches it all on CN and has probably only seen cowboy bebop.

any show called BLOOD i'll have to end up watching at some point. maybe since i'm sick i might tune it. although i can only handle so much television in one day.

lame
Nope. I use to watch anime straight up from Anime-Junkies and random anime irc servers on rizon and efnet. I had quite the library. I just don't see anything new in Japanese Animation. They are all (for the most part) lame in general. Thats the only thing I can agree on with you there.
I didn't know how many lame o's we had here, looks like im getting a head count.
Read my reply in the Bebop thread, I made a list of shows you would probably like.
Watching anime is the definition of coolness
cool is cool. nothing can define cool except cool itself.
That and Webster's
a. great; fine; excellent: a real cool comic.
b. characterized by great facility; highly skilled or clever: cool maneuvers on the parallel bars.
c. socially adept: It's not cool to arrive at a party too early.
Or Japan
8 out of every 10 Japanese watch anime
Im also majoring in Japanese, because Japan is awesome
78% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
Not this one
Proof?
I'm good with the ol' USA. 10 out of 10 Americans, live in America.

yeah if you live in backwards land
i do, i am an "anime junky" but it's not like it stops me from leading a normal life, but the fact that i am able to acquire a wealth of anime easily is just cool, because anything that makes someone happy is cool by them, and i can be happy really easily, so... suck it
Quote from: taylorpeople obssessed with japan are total faggots
for that matter, people who are obsessed with America "are total fagots", anyone "obsessed" with anything is dumb.... and America sucks the big one.
Dagolith, Your signature says it best.
Why has America got your panties all in a bunch?
ahahahaha I'm joking, do you really care if i hate America, for any number of reasons? and if so, why does that mean you can say i suck? because of my point of view?
if you dont like america then go live in canada where the govt. spoonfeeds everyone if that will be easier for you
I didn't say you suck, your sig did. I'm joking at this point because this thread has gone to shit.

Quote from: RobjaFaluWTFuck is 9/111? Since when does The month of September have 111 days?
since those horrible freedom hating terrorists attacked America on that fateful day, of September 111th.
just for the record how many of us have bunched up panties I need a show of hands
well for starters you seem pretty bunched up yourself (https://thebackalleys.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thebackalleys.com%2Fforum%2Fuploads%2Fav-246.jpg&hash=20b9c5e169a3a5dded35418c7e3cba5bcca0d4e0)

that i do.
I am dead fucking serious I love my country with all my heart
This country is full of corpution, greed and corporate robots who control everything.
I know its better than most of the trash holes out there, but it has alot of room for improvement.
That can be said about A lot of countries. Every place has their share skeletons in the closet. Nothing is perfect in the world.
except frank miller.
i'd imagine japan to be a very stuffed and unpleasant place to live. i'd rather visit.
there's a lot more room in this country, a lot more things to see. i'd rather import japan's culture than be a part of it.
Only Japan's major cities are over crouded.
it's really just a negative stigma about japan, most of it is not populated at all.
Quote from: AnimegamerOnly Japan's major cities are over crouded.
Yep, major cities are crowded and then there is sparsely populated small towns. Definitely don't have any of those in America.
Sparsely populated small towns? There are plenty of those. Check out Middle America. Population in some of those towns don't even reach above 200.
unless that was /sarcasm you turned on
pretty sure he flipped that switch robja
There are far worse tragedies to speak of than the mass produced anime crap being sent out to plague every westerner's home, to entice their kids to buy a crapload of toys and merchandise. What do we call that? An impressive marketing strategy that deals with the fantasies (and oft times sick) lurking in everyday people's imaginations.
As for the tragic events that played out at 911? While I do not wish to sound rude, I'm getting tired of hearing about it. Sure, it was something to go to war about, but let's face it. The US has lost more people and troops in Iraq than the police officers, fire fighters, and civilians combined on that fateful day. And lest us not forget the Iraq civilian casualties. Over 100,000? Some informed estimates believe it's over 600,000.
Btw, for the record. I despise most anime shows these days. All I see now is the mainstream efforts of companies pushing out anime with a lack of artistic quality, in favour of computer generated scenes that killed the cel shading techniques that required more time. But it was worth it. The cel shading I mean. The anime industry is getting slack for the most part; with the exception of a few gems here and there. I only watched Steamboy for the first time, and the wow factor for detailed animation in that is quite impressive. Gundam Seed on the other hand? It's worse than a narcotic in the hands of a kid. (Stock animation is the death knell of people caring for their work.) At least Gundam Wing had better animation. Even if the main characters were victimised, over the sad display of fangirls that ruined many people's views of them.
steamboy was well animated, but 10 years production time for a story that disjointed? not worth the wait. nice eye candy, though. definitely a step above most anime films and series.
Yup. It's been a while since we've been treated to a good story too. Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle are great exceptions though. As for a series, Last Exile sits nicely as my fav. If only there was more like them, I might have more respect for the industry.
well that goes without saying, almost all anime movies have much higher quality than anime series. like NausicaƤ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nausica%C3%A4_of_the_Valley_of_the_Wind)
The quality in animation is a lot more evident in movies, because they have larger funds to work with. Unfortunately this does not always mean a better script and story writers, as Rtil pointed out about Steamboy. Appleseed and Spriggan belong there too. Sure they look flashy and have lots of explosions... but the cheesy moments they throw in ruin the seriousness of the show. Like when that chick is cheering on the rocket ship in VHD: Bloodlust. Sad...
one thing that always stood out to me about spriggan that allows me to forgive some cheesy moments is the fact they didn't blatantly exploit women as sex symbols in the film. there was only one woman i could even remember in the movie, and she was dressed like anyone else in the film, and didn't act like a complete moron.
the ghost in the shell show blows really bad why has it been on the air this long?

i didn't even know it was on television. never seen the series, but i've seen clips of the film and man was the animation incredible.

True. Maybe there's something to be had there in Hayao Miyazaki's more renown accomplishments?
And you know... if only that weak ending in Spriggan didn't exist, I wouldn't have a single gripe against it. Not only was it all 'ladeda, happiness for all', but I felt it was too rushed to enjoy.
