I finally decided to take art class. Now someone tells me what to draw rather than aimlessly squiggling at paper and drawing what ever the squiggles might resemble.
My friend also introduced me to pencils that have different boldness's. She says they're for shading and what not. I need to learn how to properly shade.

I still prefer my mechanical pencil to anything else. It just feels right.
You could archive the same effect with normal pencils but I do find the thicker ones to great at out lining. The rest seem useless to me.

Dug up an old recording and decided to try out some animation. I really cheaped out on the walking motion so It looks like he is putting his foot in and out. I still lack consistency, so i have to go with the sketch-esque look.

I do basic shapes when I draw on paper. On flash however, I just do a quick rough draft from scratch, trace over, color, blah blah.
On paper I've always found it very useful. I've tried to do it in flash a couple of times but it just hasn't worked for me yet.

don't cop out with the textures overlay thing, 99% of the time it's done wrong and is just slapped on as an excuse to try and make bad art look better . anyway, you need to work on composition and if you're going to do a piece with that much depth, you need to think more about the colors you use and the line width based on distance. things further away tend to fade to less saturated colors and approach a blue due to the atmosphere. so you'll probably want to make the figure holding on for dear life darker and more saturated, and the background elements should be more washed out and have thinner outlines

Yeah I'm disappointed at it. It just added it quickly as a space filler when I was showing the organizer the basic design but I couldn't think of anything else to put so I left it in. I should do something more vector-esque so it fits with the background.
Anyway, graphic design is definitely a career possibility. This one guy from camp north is getting me and some other people some freelance design jobs for small amounts of cash. Animation is still my main objective because there's just something about giving life to your drawings that appeals to me. I know I'm not really good at right now but you know.. I can learn

I tried but when I compressed it all into one layer I was unable to edit it without the masking messing up.
I'd have to work with around 20 layers.

When colledge age kids bring their portfolios of artwork for evaluations by various college professors on their transcripts in the hopes of getting into a better school or for job interviews. I went to one last year when my portfolio was shit, and it was packed as all hell.
A great experience though, because I found a nice list of animation schools accross the country with a list of their majors and minors, which was how I picked out VCU.
