Well then I guess you missed the purpose of Sci-Fi. It started off as a way for author's to express their political and theological ideals with as little backlash as possible!
But they still kept the martian tripods. Early early sci fi was all about metaphors for current politics (such as the maritan invasion of war of the worlds where the martians represented the british after they wiped out the entire aboriginal population of tasmania), not about current affairs where the governments have different names. It was also about adventure and explosions, and dog fights, and tentacles and damsels in distress.
