Oh and the tits outfit and the glass of whatever the hell he drank. WOW!!! The hard stuff like character animation and design is just recycled garbage. I don't know doesnt seem all that impressive. He thinks working on a flash for 2 weeks is like an accomplishment. Maybe I'm just too hard on it but that's just the way I feel! I wasn't very interested in it!

this is basically already what its like. the exposure you get by simply submitting to the portal has plummeted. i look back on the first season of dailytoons. every single flash has 5000+ views and 30+ reviews. by season four, despite the series improving in quality, we were reduced to an average of 400 views and 2 or 3 reviews

Mike even admits he felt dirty reusing backgrounds and symbols. I think he agrees with alot of what we have to say about the technical aspects of his series, which, as far as I'm concerned is what matters.
Still I think he deserves credit for doing something fresh on NG. Sure it's pretty much just a dumbed down Evil Con Carne, but that's life.

Sure I don't think he's that funny, but he's never done anything, that I've personally witnessed at least, that I would all out condemn. And when I talk to him, he's a really nice guy.
I think the swain has a lot of talent his drawings are pretty sound, and he's got a better mastery of Flash than I do.
But I might be easily impressed so yeah. I can honestly say with no personal arrogance that I only laughed at one part during Mastermind 3, but I'm sure a lot of people loved it so why not let them have their fun.

Here's I write reviews. Just meh is a 5. Bad is below 5, and you can climb up points but doing thigns I like. I like his colour palette, I like the mastermind as a character, and i like the music choices. That was enough to get a 9 from me, because there were no factors the really brought it down.
I don't count content in my score, because that's just taste and doesnt really include technical skill at all. I do include HOW you show off that content though. I rate a 10 second submission like it was an hour long and an hour long submission like it was 10 seconds. If you fill the time the properly, length doesn't matter at all.
So many factors are influences, but I try to let content not be one of them. That's why even though I didn't think Mastermind was good, I can appreciate other aspects.

I've read all that, and I really hate it honestly. Mostly just when it comes down to story though.
You're sense of story is so narrow and flawed. I got started in art through literature, and there is no such thing as a "well structured story" only a well told one. Structure is relative to how the author is going to tell it, and there isn't a way to say it was right, only to say if it does what it's intending to do.
For example, the movie Natural Born Killers by Oliver Stone. It's structure was a mess. There was no rhyme nor reason to the flash backs mixed with the modern happenings mixed with the solutions. I was almost impossible to tell what was the story and what was support of it. However, that movie is one of the greatest movies of all time because IT CONVEYS EXACTLY WHAT THE DIRECTOR WANTS IT TO IN THE WAY THE DIRECTOR WANTS. That's why movies like Step Up aren't good. Because they're about inner city kids and urban dancing, and they have these dramatic emotional stories, but the filmmaker turns it into a second rate music video where all the characters spout cliches, and you have this tale vying for your attention and emotional response, but all you get is a gag because some tiny white kid is super gangsta.

no country for old men is kinda like that. it doesnt follow the usual three act structure of conflict, climax, resolution, etc because its based on a work of literature that doesn't conform to movie script guidelines. many conflicts in that movie end up left entirely unresolved. my friends all fuckin hated it because of the ending, but i loved it personally.

oh yea that scene was crazy. the coens only allow you to imagine what goes on in the 10 seconds before tommy lee jones arrives on the scene based on the carnage he sees afterwards. i can see why some people would've been confused or dissatisfied with that part, i know i didnt get it the first time. at first i thought he cheated on his wife with that woman by the pool for some reason. after watching it a second time and understanding it, that was definitely one of the best scenes in the movie. same with the scene where antone is waiting in the hotel room, then isnt there when tommy lee jones breaks in. when i first saw that i was like "what the fUCK" but i think i understand it now
the differences between the novel and the movie were actually pretty significant at those parts. the coens were otherwise faithful to the text, from what my friend tells me.
The Coens did a good job of remaining pretty faithful yeah.
I was one of those few guys who wasn't confused in the movie, and got pissed when people outside were talking about how confusing it was.

Alright. Reposted with some minor edits (the review was made before the re-design came, half year old or something).
Why are the review mods so strict? Anyone can make some quick once sentence review with a high score and not have their review deleted yet you have to spend quite a bit of time just to not get a negative review deleted. I've seen some pretty decent reviews in the past get deleted because of how strict the review mods are. I wish people could write short negative reviews like they could in the past. There are a couple of bad apples for mods but it is tough goin through all the reviews and shit
I think they implemented the new review modding system because author's were probably getting pissed at the 0 reviews on flashes they may have worked their asses off for and all the review says is "THIS SUX BOI". Its tough to find a middle ground for this thing. I don't find the new system so bad, you just have to walk around eggshells when your reviewing.

it only takes them a couple of minutes a day. to upload. if they can upload over 400 flashes in 4 months , they probably would do it again if we just deleted them all.
a good idea would be to have a system that allows you to upload based on your points . it would work kinda like the art corner front page... the more decent flashes you submit the more you are allowed.... but that would probably piss off the spammers.

I really like the idea though. The only flaw would be that people who just started with flash have a big disadvantage.

Well people who do decent submissions generally take longer to punch out a flash anyway so i think it would be pointless.
Also I like to make unserious pointless flashes just for fun sometimes and I wouldn't want to have restrictions just cause I got the urge to make some random movie.
