It just came out Today (or yesterday if you want to get technical).

81% on Rotten Tomatoes. Skimming through most of the reviews, the negative ones focus on how it doesn't exactly stay faithful to the original story (I'm guessing a completely faithful adaptation would only last about 15 minutes at most) or they bring in something completely unrelated ("What has Hollywood done with this gentle plea for tolerance? It has been turned into something that looks astonishingly like far-right propaganda about how Christians are a persecuted minority -- as if this were 100AD in the Roman Empire"). I suppose some groups are using Horton's "A person's a person, no matter how small they are" as a pro-life motto, but I haven't heard much about that.
I still need to see it, but I was honestly not expecting much of a reception from this movie, given my distaste for Blue Sky Studios' Ice Age 1 and 2.
Uhh I'm not gonna waste my time on any 3d movies Disney makes anymore. Yeah.

Disney didn't make it, but ok.
It was delightful. The movie has the best animation I'd say I've ever seen in a CG film. It was silly beyond all belief and even had a couple 2D animated segments.
Ok let me revise that.
I'm not going to waste my time on anymore 3d movies whose target audience are children.
and don't try to argue that "Horton hears a" fucking "Who" isn't made for children. Don't get me wrong I love Dr. Seuss, but still....

It's rated G, so it's obviously made for children. But that doesn't mean it isn't made for an older audience as well. Believe me, it is, albeit not in any direct way. It's obvious though that they made it as well for older people who love to see classical animation principals applied, which is something new to CG.
All I know now is the animation looks really good. When ever I see a clip or a screenshot from it it makes me happy.
Planning on seeing it today. :]
i'll maybe see it since it's probably a ruined Dr. Seuss movie
i think its kind of funny that people complain about movie's "ruining" dr. suess books even though most dr. suess books are gay!

Considering that mainstream cartoons have been targeting children since the 1970s, I'd say you're missing out on a whoooole market.
dr.seuss was the writer of the cat in the hat books and the others...

Nope. Dr. Seuss was though.
i'm seeing it today. also i saw 'doomsday' last night, hilarious and pointless movie

Bob Hoskins and Malcolm MacDowell means I have to see it. It looks like Mad Max jumped in a blender with Land of the Dead.
am gay
A movie is a movie no mater how dull
Quote from: SqueefMainstream cartoons targeted for children since the 1970's haven't been made in 3D, 3D is ugly and I don't like the stiffness of the characters. And no this movie isn't all of a sudden going to change all of that.
Obviously the animation in Scooby Doo and The Flintstones were as fluid and as lifelike as the crap we get in theaters today.

A cartoon's a cartoon, no matter what medium it's in.
A souffle is a souffle no matter when it's cooked.
it was good. excellent animation.. don't even want to know how many rigs and blends and models they had to use to do it
There were some parts that were hit and miss but overall I really liked it.

I loved it so much. SO MUCH :C

Gone With the Wind is rated G and that's obviously only made for people 50+ yrs old.

Gone With the Wind was re-rated G. It wasn't however originally rated G at all. In fact, I believe it was rated R. In fact, I don't even think it's G now. Damn is said a number of times. There are onscreen deaths.
Also, it's not for people 50 plus. It was made for people in their late 20s to early 30s originally. You have to remember when the movie was made. Not now, would be key.

I managed to see it today and this pretty much sums it up.
My thoughts: The strengths of the movie was when they WEREN'T imitating Pixar. The opening title, for example (the close up of the leaf with the tumbling spiky acorn thingy), was fairly weak because it felt like it had been done before. But when the scene where you flew through Whoville and the scenes where things were animated with wide, fast motion (watch Morton) were all excellent. If another film comes out like this that is completely in this style, I'll take back what I say about how 3D cartoons can't be pushed as far as 2D cartoons.
HOWEVER
When they went ahead and tried to add a moral to the story with the serious parts, I wanted to leave the theater. I wanted more of the wild takes and the outrageous acting.
I'm hoping that history repeats itself and the other studios realize that they can't outdo Pixar/Disney at their own game, so they go off and make their own style (a la Looney Tunes and UPA)
hey at least the 'moral parts' were mostly silly as well.
when all the animals looked at horton with BIG SAD EYES while he said his speech at the end, I couldnt help but grin, just due to all the mugging
