New film by Pixar called Up.
disney-pixar ... is that a groundhog?
interesting, i've always wanted to see another disney film with talking animals (like robin hood :])
That's just concept art I'm pretty sure the actual film is 3D.
At least I think?
Either way I'm really looking forward to it.
Nope thats a shot from the film itself apparently. They posted it outside the studio, and a guy took a picture.
If it isn't though, oh well.

i hope you're kidding
every recent disney film has had talking animals i'm getting quite sick of it
i'm glad they're reconsidering 2d i think that's great

The most reccent Disney movie wasn't based on talking animals as far as I remember. I didn't watch it though. And I can't remember which Disney movie came out before that, really it was a long time.
I'm tired of talking animals, either way. All Dogs Go o Heaven was fantastic. That Oliver Twist adaption was. Lion King, Aristocats even. They're good.
But the idea becomes boring when the entire novelty is just that it's talking animals. Especially CG ones.
Either way, Up isn't about talknig animals. It's some coming of age story about a 70 year old man and some younger fellow. Not alot of details are available right now.
I'm not even 100% sure it will be 2D, that's just what I read.

The last Disney 2D was Home on the Range (animals). After that was Chicken Little (animals) and then Meet the Robinsons (...singing frogs). It feels like I'm missing something in the list though
The singing frogs in Meet the Robinsons had MAYBE 4 minutes of footage in the movie.
Also, I have a hard time believing thats a shot of the actual film.
Not that I dont think Pixar is capable of 2d (Your Friend, The Rat proved that they can do it fucking majestically) but the linework and coloring in that looks alot ALOT like concept art. Its very 'crumbly' and sketchy.
Now, if they are doing a whole movie like Your Friend, The Rat in Nate Wragg's squiggly style, then hell yeah. But I cant imagine they'd invest that much film to that sort of animation style.

amen.
they just pick an animal and give it a zany twist
sharks tale
bee movie
ant bully
and coming soon
what the fuck
starring jack black

It looks even less believable up close. But the article said it's a shot from the film. Could be erroneous, who knows.

Maybe Pixar developed a new type of shader that makes it seem 2D (NOT the toon shader)

prepare for awesomeness
After Disney fired all their 2D animators (a few years ago under Michael Eisner's tutelage) Pixar bought out all the 2D animation equipment. My brother and I have been patiently waiting for them to produce a Traditionally animated film for quite some time now... Did you know that Monster Inc was completely stolen from another artist? Jerry Bryce has even showed me the comparison sheets, the little green one eyed monster was developed many years ago by a Disney Artist, and Disney just claimed that it was their work since he was part of the Disney company.... Such a shame... He didn't get a dime from that movie.
(Jerry Bryce has worked on shows such as the Smurfs, and movies such as The Little Mermaid fyi)
But aside from that, if you saw the intro to their recent live action movie "Enchanted" or something along those lines, you would see some fairly magnificent 2D animation work... I am hoping this film "Up" is at least a 2D/3D hybrid.
Oh and has anyone seen Paprika by Satoshi Kon? Its fucking amazing.
the animation in enchanted was outsourced to a studio in california of an ex-disney animator, ironically enough. i also doubt that pixar developed a renderer that looks like 2d animation. even if it 'looked' like ink marks with traditional coloring, 3d animation will never look like 2d animation. the closest i've ever seen are the shaders that look like clay. but you can always tell the difference even with those.
Brad Bird is actually supposed to be working on a 2D movie for Pixar called "1906" or something
Shigeru Miyamoto is teaming up with Adam Sandler to produce a 3D-2D animated hyrbid called Galixa viva Plumber it will be released in 1864

Sounds gross. Should be called Galsitxia Viva Plumber!

I heard that that was supposed to be live action.
Pixar seems to be really taking themselves in a new direction. Funny that they're the ones who really made 3D animation what it is today, and now they're doing other stuff.

Speaking of Claymation, Doug TenNapel is working on a Neverhood feature film, anyone else excited?

I heard it was Live Action as well
And once again, it's not for sure that UP is going to be 2D, it's simply what was said. Very, VERY few details about it have been made available to the public.
well we do know one thing for sure: it exists
also
butts
This might not even be a screenshot, it might be concept art or something.
If they're making something 2D though, it's sure to be good. Anything Pixar does is good. Except Cars.
Quote from: RichChapExcept Cars.
this
its funny that while Cars is pixar's worst film, it was still better than half the other crap that came out that year.

this is also true. it had an awesome short before it too.
so have we reached a conclusion here yet?
nerp he havnt
im 99.9% sure that Bob Saget is not in this.
One Man Band may be my favorite Pixar short. and Cars wasn't bad, it just wasn't nearly as good as Pixar has been known to be.
It's also the only Pixar movie that I haven't seen in theaters.
