I terribly worried about colouring this, for fear that it will look like something anigen drew.

Help me out?

Wow. I can't even imagine that colored. It looks good in black and white. I'd say if you have to color it, try just using the brush to color it and make it look like you used crayons or something. Know what I mean?

i'm eventually going to have to go ahead and animate it too, and that colouring style wont really suit the tone of the cartoons. thanks for the input though.

also someone mentioned that the right hand's fingers look really weird and that's because they are, intentionally. his hand becomes the gun and his fingers  come out of the gun's handle itself. and his left hand is just stylised for some reason hah.

lay it out in base colors first, b&w if you have to. then once you think you've got it right, decide on proper lighting and how it will effect those base colors. it's kind of difficult for me to picture what this might look like because it's just a character in a blank white space. but anyway,  if cel style doesn't work for animating these characters, well i don't know what to tell you because painting frames is probably the most redundant thing an artist could ever do. if you want to go for a painted style i would suggest less graphic characters (rely less on outlines and more on color), don't shade them and paint your backgrounds. or use textures in conjunction.

Well Cel colour is what I'm going to do, just not going to scribble colour so it looks like a crayon.

His wrists are fucked up because that's the way his wrists are. It has to do with the way he rolls his hands to make shit appear in/as them. The thing about Nick is that there is something quite wrong with his brain, and it allows him to manipulate the energy in the air thats in direct contact with his body, sort of anyway. He's just got, abilities, to say the least. He calls it his spider, hence the series title, but it only works when he's within a certain distance of his home city, Desolas. Anyway, not the point.

He has red hair, and is very pale, wears a green vest and his pants change day-to-day. He always has that belt on pretty much though. It would be brown leather I suppose.
