Title: Fox News GOP Debate 1/10/08
Post by: rtil on January 11, 2008 05:46 PM
Last night\\\'s debate was proof to me that Fox & Friends are interested in only putting forth their opinions, and that not only the network, but the other candidates, treat Ron Paul like a joke candidate.

Ron Paul was the subject of many jokes and attacks last night, calling him unelectable, a terrorist supporter and a racist, even by the questionnaire. Unfortunately for them he stepped it into high gear and did a solid job defending his platform. However, even more disturbing were comments by frontrunners, most notably these:

Mike Huckabee: "(Iran) should then be prepared to see the gates of hell"
Fred Thompson: "I think one more step and then they\\\'d be introduced to those virgins they\\\'ve been looking forward to seeing"
Fred Thompson again: "If they cross the line, they\\\'re going to be destroyed"
Rudy Giuliani: "We should impose serious sanctions on Iran"
John McCain: "I dont\\\' want to trade with them, they\\\'re only interested in trading Burkas"
Mitt Romney: "Maybe (Ron Paul) should stop reading Mosaddeq\\\'s press releases"

I couldn\\\'t believe the bigotry and blind rage I saw last night at the debates. Take note that most of these comment received uproarious applause and laughter from the crowd of 3,000. Do I really live in a country where people support this kind of arrogance? It\\\'s unbelievable.

oh and not to mention after Ron Paul won the text poll for debate winner (by a margin of double digits) they proceeded to bring on spin room get-the-answers-im-paid-to-get pollster Frank Luntz who then proceeded to ask his room of paid plants who won the debate, and they went on and on about Huckabee and Thompson for an hour like they were told to.

but to his unfortunate surprise, when he asked the panel if Ron Paul should have been included in the debate, most people raised their hands.

Speaking of debates, NBC recently invited Dennis Kucinich to the January 15th debates and then NBC later decided to exclude him. [LINK] (http://www.dennis4president.com/go/homepage-items/nbc-un%11plugs-kucinich-from-presidential-debate/) The main reason Dennis has no chance of winning this election is because of stations like NBC. Fucking fuckers.

Recounts have been showing that Romney got a 7% boost and Paul got a 2% drop from Diebold voting machines. That 2% would put him ahead of Giuliani and make him 4th in New Hampshire.

Kucinich wants a recount, too. I don't blame him

Paul last night on the questions:

Theyre all making me sick. What a bunch of fucking morons. I think Ron is rather ahead of them when considering the consequences of like 3 active wars in a row. The US is already involved in a lot of undercover stuffs worldwide, and they spend enormous sums on surveillance and espionage. If they keep it up like that, a lot of conflicts will backfire on them. Sad really. No matter which candidate you vote for, theyre all gonna wage a war. Thats why i trust none of them. I dont think any of them are bright in their mind. Always playing a worldwide political game, resulting in thousands of thousands getting killed or injured for life.

I just hope the current conflicts wont spread to Pakistan, that has already been thrown into chaos and political crisis. The US is planning to send troops there. Man i hate the world, everythings goin to hell. No peace anywhere :( I just hope the American people will make up their mind and at least do a wise decision in the election campaign. May democracy live on forever.

If I was American I'd vote Ron Paul probably. He's the most logical of all the canditates, with the best foresight. The problem is, I doub't he'd be a very charismatic leader, and right now someone is really needed who can rally and convince the populous against idiotic acts that the previous puppet in office has perpetrated.

I tend to agree with Rtil about the war thing. It's plain to see the war is murdering the economy. I don't think that's really what Gerk was getting at, though.

the sad thing is, he's not even joking. I've been to every country in europe, 4 in africa, all of north america and 1 country in south america, and 2 countries that are half europe and half asia, and as bad as it is, americans are a symbol of alot of crap.

i lived in the states for near half my life, and i love america as much as i love canada, and i know that it's not a whole lot different than anywhere else when you boil it down, but through media and such, people see an eagle with a machete killing innocents worldwide. its dumb.

in europe most americans who vacation put canadian flags on their stuff to not be ridiculed. at the outdoor market in Sittard in the netherlands, i saw a woman buy smoe cabbage for like a euro, and i went up and askled for them and they charged 5, and i started speaking in french cuz i thought maybe he misunderstood, and he said "Oh, you're not American? 1 euro." Note: most dutch people dont speak french, but this is a travelling market.

shit like thatr makes me sick.

if they're sick of tourists maybe i could understand that. i hate traveling to foreign countries because i don't know their indigenous language. your typical pot-bellied white guy with a safari hat, disposable camera, a map and kneesocks has turned the american tourist into a symbol of disgust and i don't want to be a part of it. the next country i go to i will take a few months learning at least enough to get around.

and the only reason ron paul is not 'charismatic' (an attribute i don't even think exists) is because he doesn't fluff up the american public with emotionally charged speeches about a whole lot of nothing. he's a straight talker, and he tells the truth, which scares a lot of americans who are comfortable in their white picket fence homes with their wife and kids and a beer. so they'd rather vote for the "normal guy" mike huckabee who cracks jokes, steals people's ideas, goes hunting and talks about delivering the world for christ. someone who is "in touch" with the american people and doesn't actually know anything about politics, foreign policy or economics.

they probably are sick of tourists too, but alot of it is the media everywhere is controlled to be just as biased and filled with lies as the media here, and one of those lies is that all americans are basically clones of george bush.

i don't see how you don't think charisma exists, but I do agree with your point a whole lot. people are afraid of the truth and also people like presidents who will stand up and hype every single thing out there into some massive frenzy.

but not all people who are like that are liars and cheats either. Abe Lincoln was charismatic and had energy on stage when presenting a speach, but he also told it like it was.

anyway, you're right, people don't find Paul appealing because he says things they don't want to realize are the sad truth.

i think there are people that are immune to the idea of charisma and i also think it\\\'s more dangerous than it is important. charisma is a mix of stage presense, confidence, charm and wit, amongst other things. it\\\'s hard to define and so i don\\\'t think it really exists. there are people drawn to the most boring and placid people on earth in the same way people are drawn to a rally candidate like barack obama that turns politics into a cheerleading competition.

so, what defines charisma for each individual is different

Ron Paul actually gets some pretty decent exposure by the media. Dennis Kucinich on the other hand gets barely any exposure. I just donated $20 to Dennis Kucinich around 45 minutes ago. Hopefully that'll help his campaign.

yeah he does, but at the same time he was excluded from a debate last week, his clips are being cut out of last night's re-runs, and there's also a lot of negative media exposure he gets (the whole 'racist' ordeal, which is the most ridiculous smear campaign i've seen this year.)

barack is also trying to paint hillary as a racist, which i think is equally stupid. how cliche of obama.

did you know paul and kucinich are good friends? they both understand a lot about civil liberties

According to MSNBC, Ron Paul is Kucinich's first choice for vice president. [LINK] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YIP7kxKxwg) I find that somewhat bizarre since Kucinich at one point said his vice president would have to be both against the war and support universal healthcare.

I think Kucinich might actually be a better President with Paul as vice, only because people might recognise Kucinich more and would be more likely to follow him as a leader position. too many people, not just america, but world wide, would rather have romney because he "looks" like a president. so balgh.

First of all i do not trust "Faux News" anymore (Fox News for the morons that didn't understand it)

I think maybe this elections are really screwed over... NO i will not vote for another Clinton in office, NO i would not vote for ignorance. War happens every 20-30 years its weird... Us humans cannot live without war for some reason... My step-father, the closest thing to a father, i ever had is in Iraq. Its his job... It will be my job too. I am very conservative (no abortion no mariajuana etc.) Obama seems like a nice guy but he doens't have much experience. Clinton thinks is a freaking beauty padgent and she's only doing it for the publicity. For some reason almost all Republicans want war with Iran and most Democrats want things that will ruin the morality of the country. If you can vote i say stay at home. If i could i would move to somewhere like Australia. The world is not going to end... The world is only starting to rip itself.
Title: Fox News GOP Debate 1/10/08
Post by: MRat on January 13, 2008 09:47 PM

Get the fuck out of here if you believe in morality and equate it to things like anti-abortion. You fail at morality if you're anti-abortion. I will hunt you down, find you're closest female relative and impregnate her with a baby she can't care for. You tell me it's better for you to bring a child up in a world where it won't be happy than to stop it because it even exists as a human being.

You gotta be pretty fucking stupid if you're pro-war and anti-abortion. It'd ok to cause civiliant deaths through collateral damage, destroying hundreds of innocent lives, but you can't kill a mass of undefined cells? Wow, you're going straight to hell.

That's right, I like to start shit.

yeah um, i don't think i understand. why would i not vote if i have the ability to? there is no such thing as a wasted vote, and if a person i dislike gets into office, and i didn't vote, i can't bitch about it because i did absolutely nothing to stop it. and what republicans and democrats want changes every four years. those terms mean nothing.
What conservatives want are smaller government and less nation building.
What liberals want are more government programs and more policing of the world.

Mike Huckabee, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Mitt Romney, John McCain, Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson are liberals

Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich (minus the healthcare issue) are conservatives

fuck the two party system. our founding fathers warned us that we should never have a party system because it will brutally divide this nation. and it has done exactly that

I thought Dennis Kucinich was the most hardcore liberal running for president on the Democratic side. Also, I didn't know our founding fathers didn't want a party system in this country. The founding fathers sure were very smart. >_> To be perfectly honest, I'm actually glad there's a party system. I just wish it wasn't just a two party system. Sure, there's other parties but Libertarians like Ron Paul has to register as a Republican to have any chance of being elected.
Title: Fox News GOP Debate 1/10/08

our founding fathers knew what trials may come to face this nation. many of them have come and we have failed. if you want to read something like a prediction of the future, read George Washington's 1796 farewell address. he warns the country not to do a lot of things we have already done and are ok with

and if you want to get to specifics, kucinich and paul are pretty much libertarians. everyone else is mostly liberal or statist.

What are the advantages and disadvantages? I put "maybe".

It's amazing that the people here, on some art forum, do better research and have clearer thinking than the people who want to go into politics as a career field so badly. while you're generlizing a bit there, it's true that most politicians, and by tandem their supporters, are so rigid about beliefs and refuse to accept change either which way. but it's a problem both parties have, and probably will continue to have for time to come.

they're regulated debates with moderators and all that sort of thing. i went to a massive conference in Den Haag at the big UN court there, but I got thrown out of my commitee because I refused to vote Turley into the EU (we did some minor EU simulations as well) and they said I was just being festicious, which is ridiculous. Turkey isn't stable enough. The EU should totally help them, but induscting them into the EU would be hasty. And I stand by it.

yeah, i'm voting for ron paul
i like what you've said about him
it isn't just that, of course
i've done a lot of research on my own
i can say a few things about each candidate

i have a friend who says she wants ron paul to win
but she said she'll probably vote for obama since she thinks he'll make it all the way
and if it's up against him and hilary, she wants him to win
i told her she ought to just vote for ron paul and not just who she thinks will win
but she doesn't think he will make it to the top
i told her if everyone who felt the same as her voted for him anyway, he might win!
she says she doesn't feel like her vote matters because of the electoral vote
and she thinks it should just be based solely on popular vote
Title: Fox News GOP Debate 1/10/08
Post by: rtil on January 15, 2008 01:26 AM
the electoral college is based on the popular vote

here's how it works:
1. people show up to their precinct's caucus to decide on who will be a delegate. delegates can move on to the county, state and national convention. at the national convention, delegates make up a percantage based on popular vote beecaaaaaaaaause...
2. at the primary people vote for their candidate. this typically makes up 51% of the vote, the other 49% goes to delegates. delegates typically go with whoever won in their precinct. delegates essentially reflect the outcome of the popular vote
3. in the national vote, each state is designated a number of spots in the electoral college due to population. only twice in history has a candidate gone into office and not won the popular vote

so saying your vote doesn't matter is stupid. also the concept of a wasted vote doesn't make any sense to begin with. if you don't vote based on who you believe in then you might as well vote for your least favorite candidate. the reason we elect morons into office is because most people vote on who they think they can win. it confuses me, but it's common for most people

ron paul can make it all the way if people weren't so clouded with doubt

Indeed. There's been a countless amount of times I've read that a person won't vote for Kucinich simply because many people believe it's a wasted vote. Because of that, look what happened in New Hampshire. I thought Kucinich would do much better but because so many people are filled with so much doubt, Kucinich did laughably poor. Stations like NBC doesn't help. A judge claims NBC either has to include Kucinich or have the debates not go on. Guess what NBC chose. Here's a quick summery of the situation.

-Kucinich was invited to the MSNBC debates after being excluded from the ABC debates.
-Less than 48 hours later, MSNBC changed the criteria for qualifying and Kucinich was informed that MSNBC changed their mind on allowing kucinich to debate by deciding to exclude him.
-Kucinich sued NBC.
-The court sided with Dennis and claimed Dennis must be allowed in the debates.
-NBC still refuses to allow him in the debates.
-If NBC doesn't change it's mind on letting Kucinich in, Dennis will either issue an injunction (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/injunction) or NBC will cancel the debates.

If NBC cancels the debates, hopefully the story will be covered on stations like CNN. That would certainly ruin NBC's credibility.

Random Fact: ABC didn't begin to exclude Kucinich from debates until Kucinich won an ABC poll. The poll was removed immediately after Kucinich won.

Edit-

Btw, a lot of Arab people in Michigan are going to vote for Kucinich regardless if he'll do well or not. I think Ron Paul is the most popular Republican with the Arab people in Michigan.

Hmm Good points but i seen that communism is not perfect because there is many (Believe me in Venezuela we had revolts in which students died and are in the same way as CUBA) MANY problems
Also a life is a precious thing because even if you were forced to the point of pregnancy there is such thing called adoption and it works many times. The main reason i think its wrong its because of that child might help to change the world in one way or another. Im kind of hypocrytical cause im writing an article about Cloning and the descion made by the UN and i think cloning might help save lives or even bring back someone precious that was young and died.
You are denying yourself saying religion is only an idea and yet saying "You are going straight to hell"

But anywho no hard feeling too

By idea I didn't mean to play religion down or anything. I'm pretty religious in my own way, but I just meant that it isn't alive, it can't actually think. As for the you a going straight to hell, it's just shockfactor fun.

Be anti-abortion if you want, I was just dicking around anyway. I'm pro cloning too. I'm pro everything to be honest. If you want to do it, do it. That's my life philosophy. Ijust like to be an asshole to see how people react.

I still think communism in theory is the best way of life. Evryone is equal in everything no matter what they do. but that would NEVER actually work.

yeah i've heard venezuela has had some troubles.

because im worthless and would love to be able to do my lame job and have the same benefits as people who work hard!

no seriously, all jobs are of precisely equal value to society, cut one out, and things get all mussed up.

MRat is right. Communism, and most of its watered down branches (ie socialism) are so ideal for the perfect world where things like jealousy and greed do not exist. Unfortunately, they do - and that is why they will never work.

There are other huge problems with it that I could address, but that\\\'s the number one reason.

yep. there's a LONG list of problems, but if we ever end up like the surface dwellers in the Time Machine, i think communism is essentially the direction we'll head in.

Who's gonna be the new president, place your bets! A nigger or a cunt, woohoo, bright future for America. Civil war or bigger parking spaces.

Well it could be a Black female Jew homosexual. THAT would be scary.

And I always wondered about Gavin. The hammer and sickle he displays has intrigued me.
