got back from california a few days ago, partly to do anime expo artist alley in LA, and then after visiting my grandparents in santa cruz. also did another local con right before going to LA. i'm so glad to be back. i never wanna do another artist alley again. so much fucking work and stress. it's become a massive hustle now and if you don't do it full time it's not worth it. i will peddle my smut exclusively on the webzones now.

oh and i also got sick when i got back. probably on account of being around so many people.

in short, i'm doing much better now that that's all over with

Glad you are feeling better then.

I went to AX I think twice like fifteen years ago, and it was all pretty relaxed. I hear it's totally insane now though, can't really imagine ever really wanting to go back. Honestly I don't feel like I have much interest in any sort of con anymore.

Also yeah I too do not like doing fairs and events and whatnot, even if they are much more low key. Although I bet in the field you're in it's super competitive, not something I have to deal with.

And I'm usually just fully by myself, it's all a lot to manage with even just loading/unloading. Been a bit busy, but I know I need to do at least two or so for the holiday season, I know application deadlines are coming up -_- bleh

i finally shipped off my expensive 1st gen Apple HomePods to the one guy in the united states who repairs them. if he can fix them, i'll have my killer TV sound system back for like $250, if not i'll just be out the shipping cost and lookin at $600 to replace the pair. i chose the pod life but wtf

AX is three 9-hour days and then one 6-hour day with 2 hours for teardown. there's also "day -1" and "day 0" for setup, which is the only non-stressful part. but you're competing with what is now near 1,000 other artist tables and that's just on the show floor for artist alley.

the only other bigger conventions i know out there is comiket, which is so overwhelmed with vendors that many of the tables rotate out artists from day to day

Normal. Trying to get some projects done over the summer. Might be getting a job or at least a practise soon; got a call about it but still figuring stuff out.
