I've had so many people recc it but they also say it turns super fucking dark super quick and I don't know if I want to go on another bittersweet trip
Is it worth enough to offset the horrendous shit?
Bittersweet and horrendous are pretty good terms to describe it... if you don't like those kinds of feels, stay the heck away from it! Although, I must say that the overall vibe in most scenes is rather peaceful. Nevertheless, the disturbance of that peace by the stark contrast of certain other chapters of the story makes the darker parts seem even more messed up.
Then again, if a work of art actually manages to produce to produce any kinds of strong sympathetic feelings within you, it should be considered a pice of art, no matter how negatively connoted those feelings may seem at first glance.
Abyss has some pretty emotional and gut wrenching scenes, but those are the reason why the series as a whole strongly stands out from many other shows.
Sorry, but what kind of Anime is it? Slice of life?
