I made this thread on a different forum for resources on the original Anipedia but I figured hell why not post it here too.

What You'll need to use extensions
The only piece of software besides Flash that you will need for extension is the Adobe or Macromedia Extension Manager. These programs are free and available for download here. You need them to install extensions, and your Extension Manager version
must correspond with the version of Flash you own, otherwise the Extension Manager
will not recognize your copy of Flash.

- Open Adobe/Macromedia Extension Manager
- Click "Install New Extension" and open the MXP file. Follow installation instructions
- Re-open Flash. Open a document or start a new document (a document must be open to continue installation.) Go to Edit > Customize Tool Panel. Under "Available Panels", the Animation Pencil will probably be towards the bottom. You cannot create a new group for it, but you can put it under an existing panel as a subset. A good place to put it under would be the pencil tool.

FramesToSymbol- Developer: Flashwhip (http://www.flashwhip.com/blog/)
- Use: Converts a selection of multiple-frames, multiple layers into a symbol, and (optionally) replaces selected frames with an instance of this new symbol positioned identically to the original content.

Troubleshooting
Some known issues and (hopeful) answers:
- The Extension Manager says I don't have Flash installed
- Did you install the correct version of the Extension Manager? There is a different version of the extension manager for every version of Flash. Make sure you have the right one. The downloads are available on this page.
- Your installation of Extension Manager may be corrupt. Uninstall and reinstall Extension Manager.
- The Extension Manager does not install properly or is corrupted.
- Uninstall and reinstall the Extension Manager. Do NOT try to reinstall over a previously installed version. Completely remove the corrupted version first.
- I cannot install the extension on Windows Vista
- Adobe says [1] (http://www.adobe.com/exchange/em_download/) under System Requirements that Vista Home Basic isn't sufficient. However, some have successfully installed the Extension Manager and the Yahoo Astra extension on Vista Home Basic with Flash CS3.

considering this was probably the only useful thing on anipedia it's probably better here anyway, the wiki software is horribly outdated and obviously i stopped updating it a long time ago
here's something that should probably be included with all of this, it's not an extension but it's easy to use - the actionscript 3 vcam (http://www.thebackalleys.com/resources/vcam_as3.zip). supports rotation and a couple other things the as2 vcam couldn't do.
The Actionscript 2.0 VCAM plugin does support rotation btw
Where's the TBA preservation thread I'm too lazy to make it.
