I haven't posted or been on here in a while, but I wanted to make a thread here about this subject.
Is anyone here a vegetarian/vegan or have been on the diet, and did it work for you? Or do you have any interest in being one?
I've been vegetarian for almost two months now, and I've been mostly happy with the diet. I eat what most people eat that's non-meat like mac and cheese, salad, rice, vegetarian burritos, tofu, and much more. However, I've eaten some soy meat products like Tofurkey sausages, fake bacon, soy chicken, etc. Most of it is actually pretty tasty and pretty close to what the real thing tastes like. However, with or without the fake meat stuff, I'm fine with it.
I've been a little healthier and probably saved some money by doing so, because I usually went to fast food places like McDonald's and Taco Bell and other unhealthy places to eat meat and not only wasted a lot of money but wasted my health. As a vegetarian, I still consume products that aren't healthy for me like candy, soda, energy drinks, etc. but I can say I've even cut down on that but refraining from eating meat has definitely improved my health condition, both physical and even mental to some degree. I was never fat or anything, but there are other health issues related to eating meat. Most of the food I eat now is vegan, although I have products with dairy in it, but I've thought about going straight vegan for some period of time. I do enjoy a lot of the vegan pastries and muffins they have at a veggie store in my town.
You can also be a supporter of animal rights when you're a vegetarian or vegan, which is always a plus, but I can't say I have strong beliefs with it but it was definitely partially a reason of why I took up vegetarianism.
Some people think it's odd to be a vegetarian/vegan and I never really understood why.
How do you feel about the diet?
are you like, some dude that gets paid by the nsa/cia to shitpost here and change our opinions?
because you can take your lack of wanting to eat meat and get testosterone/b-vitamins and shove it up your ass
Can't say I am or ever intend to become a vegetarian. Never seen any reasoning that makes sense to me.
The only diet I need is a diet that includes more food.
he's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack
I'm a vegetarian but I would still kill and eat Bluesalt if given the chance.

I don't miss people, I've always had trouble forming connections with people, my therapist says I'm "asocial", and I have made peace with the fact that I'll never have a good friend or girlfriend, I always get bored of people
But animals... I love animals, I always pretend that I don't like animals cause I don't want people to think I'm strange but I just love people's pets, dogs especially, but recently I became great friends with a kitten, we spent all day every day together for like 2.5 months while I was unemployed, I fed him and cleaned up after him, I held him while he had constipation and I cleaned up the mess he made when he finally made a big poo on the carpet, I was so proud and happy for him, cause he was in so much pain when he couldnt poop
and now I don't live with him anymore, I lost my job and had to move back home and now I never get to see him anymore, it has been truly traumatizing to me, I honestly think that kitten saved my life when I was depressed after losing my job
I also miss the peace of mind I had as a youngster, I don't miss being in school but I miss not having to worry about everything, life is such a struggle man, it's the worst shit ever

My sister (who is vegan) is a firm believer in all that sort of thing and does so primarily because she empathises deeply with the suffering of animals. I've never morally disagreed with her reasoning and can't imagine many people do; they just don't care enough. When I told her that I was following suit she seemed happy and told me she was proud, with which I felt uncomfortable because I honestly don't care nearly as much as she.
It's a balance for me — I don't much care to contribute to the suffering of others unless I dislike them, even when said others are mindless animals with bad memory. More critically, it wasn't a huge inconvenience to me anyway. I hadn't been buying meat for a while beforehand mainly because it's expensive, and only ate the stuff when I came visiting my parents' for a bit. I also straight-up prefer soy milk to cow milk. Goat milk was nicer too, but that wasn't convenient or cheap. It wasn't really that big of a deal to make it official.
I'd have referred to myself as "almost vegan" except that my sister insists that such a claim defies the definition, so I only do it behind her back. I don't ingest meat or dairy products, but am happy with free-range eggs and generally don't check into whether a product has been animal-tested or not. The latter of which is because doing so would honestly just be more of a pain in the ass than I'm willing to bear for the sake of some animals I'll never know.

It isn't uncommon for people's health to improve after going vegan/vegetarian, but honestly I believe that's mainly because doing so is indicative that they want to watch what they eat, not because meat is innately unhealthy.
Some people wonder why you'd cut out all animal products if your main reasoning is empathy to suffering, as surely only the killing the animals is the cruel trade. These such people only wonder so because they haven't looked into it at all.
A vegetarian who is a vegetarian only because they don't want animals to suffer is basically just a half-assed vegan.
Some people also like to argue whether it's 'natural' or not to eat meat or to completely exclude it, which as a rule of thumb is a stupid argument that people need to stop making about anything at all ever in general.
God made people Omnivores so we can eat each other.
wait.

"The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently."
Unless you mean the annoying Facebook kind specifically. That's a point I'd have to agree with. My sister is also one of these.
Unless you mean all vegans, using the annoying Facebook kind as a template on which you base all of them. This is an argument also often used versus feminism which nearly rivals the stupidity of the vocal minority of representatives they're mocking in the first place, which is definitely saying something.

i mean those people who ex. wont eat eggs because theyre baby chicken but support abortion
i went vegan 6 years ago for a year, then went vegetarian for 2 years and have been pescatarian since. didn't have a good reason for doing so besides its kinda better for the environment and i guess it was cool to not be hurting animals or w/e. now that the UN is pushing for people to start eating less meat i might move away from fish. would be interested in getting some cricket protein but definitely not down to eat anything that looks like a bug.
Mealworms taste pretty nice IIRC. I've also tried locust.
Can I ask why is it you'd be interested in eating crickets but not other meats, or indeed fish but not other meats?
Chocolate covered crickets/grasshoppers are delicious, as well as fried mealworms.
Also alligators, you could technically eat them right? They are not really fish, but the flavor and texture is very fishy since they are mainly freshwater creatures.
I'm not eating roaches just cause I'm brown.

i was never a super huge fan of meat to begin with, i feel like my sense of taste is super dull. everything kind of tastes mostly the same to me, so I just pour sriracha on everything in order to get any kind of taste. i started trying being vegan just cos i wanted to try different foods and low and behold i was trying all kinds of cool things id never tried before so i kept doing it.
ultimately i started eating eggs and eventually fish again because of the protein. i lost a lot of weight when i was vegan and didn't get enough to eat on top of being on an adderall prescription which already made me less hungry. i'm sure i'd be over 6 feet like my brothers if it wasn't for that year of veganism, but instead i'm like 5'10"
moral of the story is make sure you eat enough food
