For now I just want to scout what people think about (or would they consider dating) people who have, or if they'd ever consider getting, the following:
- Haircut (just gonna ease you in here buddy)
- Wigs
- Highlights
- Extensions
- Earrings
- Fake piercings
- Face piercings
- Other place piercings
- Corset piercings
- Fake tattoo
- Frequently renewed fake tattoo
- Real tattoo
- Face tattoo
- Contacts
- Eye tattoo
- Shine job
- Forehead bagels or some shit
So the question is, would I date some with an alternative lifestyle? Short answer is yes.
> Shine job
Explain plz.
none of these look good to me
Shine job was a joke.

tattoos are cool if they're well made, guess it depends on where they are and how many of em they have.
piercings, kind of the same story. i don't really get piercings that get in the way of everyday life like piercings in or around the mouth, or piercings that ruin parts of your body like ear plugs. and they're just ugly - never seen a pair that looked good. looks like something an orc would wear.
iirc forehead bagels are temporary. but damn if they aren't stupid looking

I'll respond in a list format 'cause I think it'll be easiest.
Haircut: I prefer short hair on girls, long hair on guys. That's about it as far as that goes.
Wigs: No real opinion either way, though I find them pointless for people who already have hair, unless they wear them to avoid dying their hair, which makes a bit of sense to me.
Highlights: They look cool, I'm all for em, especially pink ones.
Extensions: No opinion, though my hair length preferences still apply I guess.
Earrings: I like em, I'm probably gonna get my ears pierced next year (after I move out).
Fake piercings: No. I just dislike fake anything, except if it's for purposes of a costume, that'd be okay then.
Face piercings: Eh, depending on placement they can either be cool or tacky. I like lip and eyebrow ones more than nose or cheek ones.
Other piercings: I
detest nipple piercings, clit hood piercings are alright, and I can't think of other common spots, so that's about it on that front.
Corset piercings: Had to look this one up. They're horrifying. I mean, your body, your choice, but don't expect me to think it looks good.
Fake tattoos: Y'mean henna, or like, those temp tattoos you wet and hold on your skin for a minute? Henna's cool, the others are really childish, like, I used those when I was 7, but now, nah.
Frequently renewed fake tattoos: Pointless, but okay, I guess.
Real tattoos: As long as it's not tacky, misspelled, or a tramp-stamp, sure.
Face tattoos: No. Face tattoos are about as trailer-trash as it gets. It probably makes me a bigot of some type, but I immediately think less of people with them.
Contacts: Assuming you mean colored/patterned ones, they're amazing, I couldn't like them more.
Eye tattoos: A bit off-the-wall, but they're okay.
Shine job: I'll withhold judgement so Riddick doesn't come after me and and pitch me into the cloud of bug-things like he did Johns.
Forehead bagels or some shit: Ew.
Also y'might want to add ear gauging to that list.

K i can't figure out how to quote different portions, so just use context to place what I'm replying to.
Nah, I do like some body mod stuff, I just tend to come across as unnecessarily lukewarm when stating my opinions, it's a bad habit I've been trying to break. I dislike some of the more extreme things (e.g. corset piercings) , but that's just from an aesthetic perspective. Nipple piercings I dislike because they cause me a great deal of sympathy pain to look at.
As far as dating people with physical traits I find repulsive, well personality can overcome a good amount. If I like someone, I like 'em, though admittedly it would take longer to realize that I was even attracted to them if they were too 'extreme' for my taste.
The gauging thing was just a random thing I threw in because I tend not to like them and wanted other peoples' opinion of them.
You're right about colored contacts, but I tend to mentally categorize them differently because contacts are common and easy to get and eye tattoos are the exact opposite, and also quite a bit newer.
Nah, I'd never consider being a woman, I'm extremely comfortable as a man, though I've come to realize over the past few months that I'm some level of bisexual, though leaning straight. Though sexuality and gender aren't tied together at all, really.
Nipple piercing. Ow. Good luck with the HRT though.

I don't particularly care one way or another as long as it's done well and isn't done for the sake of being extreme with it.
I think there's a big difference in regards to all these things in regards to their intentions. Some seem to do it for attention, some for thinking it makes them look better, while others do it based on what it represents. There are probably more reasons, but for me at least, the intention plays almost as big a role as what the modification was to begin with. Of course that sort of opens a whole other debate more focusing on the character of an individual, not really on topic here though.

This is a similar way of thinking to my own, which is why I don't claim to be outright disinterested in guys. I have similar feelings on ear stretching in that I sort of dislike looking at them. But I used to equally dislike tongue piercings, and now I want more.

The only opinion I have on this is that I'm morally offended that people feel entitled to claim uncircumcised penises look gross (where circumcised ones don't) (and that they wouldn't date a guy without it done). But maybe this is like many other things and I'm being a hypocrite in some ways. I haven't given this much thought.

I think most people I know that get tattoos think of it not as something they'll necessarily always love forever, rather the tattoo will stand for a time in their life where they felt strongly enough about something to get a tattoo for it. Either that or it's that they feel it's not such a big deal. I have a number of scars, too. They're just features.
In the former case, which the main reasoning behind my tattoos, I like to have an idea of which tattoo I want for at least a year before going to get it done. However strongly you feel about something, if it came about so quickly, it's probably not a good idea to act so surely. I know an ex of mine who got her girlfriend's name tattood on her, and they'd been dating for a couple of months, which made me cringe a bit even before they broke up.

Sure.
Grudgingly, if I'm honest, as much as I'd like to say I'm not judgemental towards people with piercings and the like, I think I am.
More often than not, I find myself thinking that a pretty face has been spoiled with piercings and/or modifications. I can appreciate the artistic expertise involved with doing tattoos, but it doesn't help that the only people I know that have tunnels and their septum pierced are now in jail or fallen off the face of the Earth.
On the right person they can look quite cool though, and I'm sure my somewhat old-fashioned opinion is in the minority. I hope I've not offended anyone with this, and if so please understand it's just my opinion.

Unlike many other physical features, piercings are 100% voluntary most of the time by the person involved and even if you like to think of yourself as not a shallow person at all, they are at least indicative of the fact that the person in question doesn't too much mind being associated with the rest of the sort of people who would get a piercing on their face.
But I guess that's true of anything.
I don't really care about piercings. I mean they can be taken out. Navel piercings are kind of hot.
That said, as with any kind of body modification (tattoos, genital mutilation, even HRT to a degree) they're pretty tribalist. I don't necessarily find that to be a negative thing either, it's just interesting how our humble hunter-gatherer roots play a role in contemporary everyday life, as much as we'd like to believe agriculture, technology, progress etc. have made a significant difference. We're still just weird, hairless, bipedal, neotenic hominids.

So basically I agree with this. I think it's worth noting that ear piercing is forced on infant girls in some Hispanic cultures, which you qualified, but at least it's not something irreversible like foot binding or neck rings or breast ironing or dick/clit cutting.
I also don't consider a haircut to be a form of body modification. Hair, like fingernails, is just dead cells and keratin, i.e. not alive i.e. not really part of your body.
Well this was intended as a body modifications thread, including all sorts of methods of altering your body in order to change your appearance. So that's up to and including but not necessarily mutilation, which I'm told is the most sincere form of flattery.
Well mutilation is often rationalized as a means of imitation so you're not far off.
Ya goof.
Yeah I had definitely taken that as a form of modification
